It's pretty funny how people go bat「dookie」 crazy when there's any new disease or virus. It would make sense if it gave you diarrhea. Did you read about the Australian woman who mistakenly spent $2000 on TP? People were buying up all the face masks here in Japan. One 7-Eleven store tried to sell a pack of 60 masks for $150(it's normally about $5) You can't even find them except on Amazon.jp at insanely inflated prices. In Hong Kong, thieves attempted to steal 600 rolls of TP. In Japan, People are stealing the rolls from public bathrooms. It's funny because years ago, they didn't provide TP in public restrooms, you had to buy a small packet of tissues for about 75 cents. Now they have standard sized TP rolls unlike the US, where they use the gigantic wheels of TP which are hard to steal and even harder to use at home.

It’s a psychological way to show control of a situation that is spiraling out of control.

(the price at checkout would've been a red flag for me) $2,000, not $200! She got free shipping!

It has been chronic here in Aus for the last 2 weeks. Limited TP deliveries are coming daily where I am but people are waiting at the front doors for the store to open and it is gone in half an hour. Same with tissues, hand sanitiser, paper towels, wipes and serviettes. Within the last week I think people are beginning to realise they can't just survive alone with a clean butt and are now starting to get into some of the longer term staples like tinned food, pasta, rice etc. We make our own TP here for the domestic market (not imported) and there should be more than enough to go around if people wake up to themselves. As of last night the CEO's of the two biggest supermarket chains (Coles and Woolworths) released statements about rationing these items. Interestingly, Coles stated that they were temporarily suspending their change-of-mind refund policy to discourage over-purchasing. This should help curb some of the panic over spending that has been happening to buy all of this stuff and then the realisation, after two weeks, that they haven't fallen ill (which the TP won't address) in that time and want to get some of their money back. This was the TP aisle at the local supermarket on Thursday
