Ive been upgrading bots and weapons equally.
Currently @ 8/8 with multiple bot and weapon options. But with the upgrade costs and times to lvl 9+ now getting serious. Rethinking strategy.
Do you think it's best to upgrade your hanger equally OR does it make more sense with the new MM to take your favourite bot and upgrade that (and it's weapons) as high as you can before focusing on your second favourite etc

Bro/sis whateva u r this is a great question and I hope I learn stuff from other posters about it. I'm 6/8 and I think I'm going to start only upgrading weapons and bots that will b part of my final lineup. I think u should balance FOR THE MOST PART. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but mm takes into account your strongest bot more than your weaker (just like squad strength) so if one is way op then u will get placed in matches that are op against your other weaker bots. From what I've heard many bots max out speed at level 9, so that's almost like a safe best bet minimum target for where bots can end up for a while. As for weapons I don't know, I've seen theories suggesting whether increasing damage or health gives u better win%. My intuition is there's a bifurcation whereby bringing bot level to certain parameter increases optimum opportunity for survival without costing any extra in increasing health as opposed to investment in the firepower you'll b using while sitting being shot at. So maybe once u get that max speed increase at bot lvl 9 it's more worth it to focus on upgrading all weapons to 12 b4 maxing out bots. Maybe.

I have 7 bots currently being leveled. I am less worried about a TT set up and more about having a good time.
I take each bot up a level over weapons. This increases speed and HP with less impact on a damage weighted matchmaker.
Then I get the weapons even with the bots and repeat.
Is this optimal? Not a clue, but works for me.

I can see why the bots first might be a good strategy as you are keeping multiple weapons on the field for longer by making the bot stronger ... up to now I have tried to balance ... practically all weapons on the 'stock hangar' are lvl 8 The galahad I bought recently was rubbish at lvl 1 ... now at 9 is becoming a favourite... is it worth pushing bots beyond 9 ? as they are at their quickest at that point

I'm nearly there at getting my bots to lvl 9 and the speed bumps. My understanding is that MM doesn't take into account hanger strength (or no where near as much as it did). Otherwise no idea why I'm consistently a couple levels the weakest hanger in a match. Damage output is the key now. With that in mind I'm thinking of having a trail blazer (one bot) higher than the others might maximise my damage output. In probably about 50% of matches I don't use all bots anyway - perhaps a waste of upgrading if I'm not constantly using all 5 slots. If you catch my drift?

Good question; I'm not certain my take on this is accurate. I prefer bots over weapons but I think it depends on the following: (1) If you're aggressive then it might be wise to have your bot higher than your weapons. (2) If you're already being outclassed then perhaps higher HP is better than more damage. (3) Cost to upgrade bots is less than weapons.
These reasons are particular to my situation but it may not be applicable to others.

I think I'm in two minds, I might continue upgrading the Gali for the extra HP and shield and the weapons on it. Or might turn my attention to the Lancile I have. As I've heard that is a beast at higher levels (I'm 8/8/8/8)

I have plenty of Ag right now but 9M !?! for 6k HP an no extra speed ... not good VFM ;-)

Hi, I had my hangar 9/10 and I decided to try level up my pdb Gal to 12/12 first.I have to say that it's beast now and the level of my oponents is the same as before (it only depends on your league ranking)I'm in gold league.

I think level weapons just ahead of bots because new bots (Wild Bunch, Dash, future bots) will probably need existing weapons, but a replaced bot is likely to gather dust.
For example, I've put the aphids from my Gepard to use on a Griffin since my Gepard got nerfed, but the bot itself is in storage.
I also level across my bots evenly because I think the cost-benefit is better than focusing on one bot.

Getting max speed makes a considerable difference, so getting 'bots to level 9 should be a priority. (After that level up the ones you find you use the most and have the most fun with.)
However, I would still advise upgrading weapons before 'bots:
(1) 'bots may change but weapons can be moved around. I don't think you will find anyone who laments levelling up 2-4 each of Orkans, Tarans and Magnums - it would be a rare hangar that didn't incorporate at least two of each regardless of 'bots.
(2) HP upgrades 6% per 'bot level; damage upgrades 10% per weapon level.
(3) Imho skill-full play rewards damage given more than damaged received; you aim to maximise shots on target whilst minimising hits taken.

Definitely, very tough decisions to make. I have 9/9 hanger and started to think along the same lines. With regard to upgrading one bot to 12/12 before the others I don't think it is wise because: - There is no bot/weapon combination that is good for all maps. if the upgraded bot is a knife fighter it will be good on tight maps but not the big ones and the opposite is true for long range set ups. - Pixonic might nerf any bot any time, so it will be bad if the nerf hit your upgraded bot. - The coming dash bots might bring a lot of changes and make meta bots obsolete. So I recommend to upgrade all your hanger to 9/9 first to get the max speed and decent health and damage with out sacrificing a lot of Ag. The harder question is what to do after 9/9? I think weapon upgrade is better than bot after level 9, so I started upgrading the weapons that can be used with different bots in multiple setups such as Tarans, Orkans, mags and thunders. I will take them all to 10 then think about the next step when I am done.

I did 9/9 on my bots and then start rushing 12/12 on main ones, did not regret the choice, here's what I've got now: I have a Stuka Griffin laying in the back of my hangar at stock levels, so when I finish my Fury I'll start upgrading him to 9. I did that ever since I started understanding more about the game and with the current MM you should not be afraid to level things such as Orkans, Tarans and Zeus. (I cant see Griffins getting out of the meta even though its already changing, prior to Tridents wich are getting outclassed by Zeuses).

From very early on to this day I take a balanced approach when upgrading. I hate having one bot that stands out, positive or negatively, in my hangar. That way I can expect consistent performance and damage from my hangar.
Also, I think it's less expensive to bring a hangar of 5 bots to level 9 than to max one (two?) 4-weapon bot.

Leveling equally or promoting a single bot: I've been thinking about promoting just one bot above the others for a bit, and I do think that bot would do more damage. That's the trouble, though. If it does more damage, you'll do higher average damage and presumably win more games. Which means you go up a league. Which means you face a higher average of bots, presumably. Your "left behind" bots will get further and further behind and less and less useful in your games. I'm thinking I'll stick to keeping my hangar equally leveled. Bots vs Weapons: For quite a while I've been noticing that most of the top damagers in my games have bots higher than weapons. Maybe that's just an artifact of small-sample statistics, or of me not paying attention to the expected result (top damagers having weapons higher than bots) but I'm starting to think it's not just random noise. Higher level bots are faster (until lvl9) and tougher than equivalent bots. That means they can get into or out of positions easier (potentially taking less damage) and when they do take damage, they can take more of it, meaning they are around longer to deal their damage. This is especially true as they cross those big boundaries (such as going from 2 DB Griffin hits to 3 before dying.) Also, from straight math, sure the bot gains 6% more staying power (we'll ignore the speed part right now) and the weapon gains 10%. But the 10% is for just one weapon. That 6% means that ALL the weapons last 6% longer. If I've got 3 weapons that each do 1000 damage and I upgrade 1, I'll do 3100 damage total. If I upgrade the bot, I get 6% more damage from all 3 weapons, which would be 3180. Y'know, I've been on the fence about upgrading bots first, but I think I just talked myself into it

if you are doing 1 bot at a time I would recommend stopping at 11. Just the cost / benefit is so much less than 11 to 12.

Old days - Balanced Hangar Current days - Max your favorite (preferably mid-range or highest damage dealer) first.
Why? Simple. 1) You need silver for higher level weapons, 2) MM will just start throwing higher level opponents at you sooner or later.
If you have that high damage dealer / fun bot (maybe a Fury or RDB), you can dish out high numbers and get your influx of cash for continual upgrades. It's something I really wish I had done, and I'm regretting having not. My hangar is balanced 8 (going on 9), and I regularly (read:almost always) fight level 11+ bots and weapons. Had I leveled my Trident Fury first to 12, I'd be doing way more damage than I am (it's my highest damage bot by far), and taking in way more silver per match. Heck, I might even be winning more.
Tl;Dr - Max your favorite mid-range bot first (after you get a decent level hangar), profit.

I am leveling based on minimal time for an upgrade to level 9. At that point, I look at leveling the bots and weapons I use in every match. For me this is Ancilot, Plasmahad, and DB Griffin. I will level the 3 bots and Ancile to 10 or perhaps 11, then catch the weapons up. I am specificallly looking to make it into Gold 1 before the next league season (for the higher gold reward). At that point it is a slow upgrade and grind up to diamond.
One thing everyone should remember is that as you level up you are getting about 10% of the current hit points/damage. So you actually get the largest number/total increase at the last levels. You area also leveling yourself out of bot dependent battles (e.g. if you both have 12/12 hangars then the crappier players with great hangars will fall to the leagues below you) and into battles where the only thing separating you from the other pilot is your skill and ability to metagame (which is dependent on skill (and hangar options)). This premise more or less works because tankers/droppers happen about equally to everyone at a certain level, so overall you will definitely rise to your skill. Eventually you will need good team mates to go any further, which usually means a good clan.

I can get distracted when I come across an effective Patton Aphid player and I look at my 2 low level aphids waiting to be upgraded and think I should change course. It's so tempting after a good fight against other builds to try and emulate their successes.
