Seems like the game is significantly advanced since the original thread was last updated over a year ago, so I figgered I’d just start a new one instead the dreaded necropost. So I’m again getting fed up with War Robots and went traversing through the App Store in search of new alternatives. I had tried Mech Battle during my last War Robots hiatus, and it was ok for awhile, but then it just stopped doing it for me. Also tried Mech Wars, but after months of playing there was usually only one other human player. They also nerfed the crap out of a couple of weapons to go along with near zero enhancements or actual updates to the game, so that too went to the scrap heap. Of course I gave BoT more than what I thought was a fair shake, but after how many years between beta and live use, it is still very limited in bots, maps and weapons, and its upgrade process is very costly and complicated. But what sealed its fate for me was the ridiculous wait times for games, because NOBODY is playing it. Which brings is in a very roundabout way to today, when I decided to give Robot Warfare a shot. Right off the bat, it’s clearly a blatant ripoff clone of War Robots. Controls are very similar, except that you cannot fire individual weapons — it’s all or nothing. But that’s ok, because I’m usually a death button pilot anyway, and it’s one less complication to have to worry about. It also allows for endless weapon hardpoint combinations, which can be both good and bad. Cool thing about the game is, there are storage bots that you automatically acquire when they become unlocked as you progress in skill levels, and there are shop bots that you can purchase for gold (or build somehow, I haven’t figured out how that works yet). Naturally the storage bots get more powerful as you progress, but the shop bots are mostly more powerful than the storage bots. So you could theoretically dump $100 on enough gold to buy a monster bot that will pretty much mop up the entire field right out of the box before you even start upgrading it. That’s the bad part. They also give you a way to test-drive some of these monster bots. It looks like you get 5 games with whichever one you choose in a 24 hour period, and at some point you get the option to buy it, that process isn’t abundantly clear to me yet. But man oh man, for those 5 games you stomp on everything except maybe somebody else who’s test-driving. A top damage score in a typical game with ‘normal’ storage bots of your level might be around 100k with maybe 4-5 kills, with most players getting well under that; with my rental I had one game with 340k damage and 14 kills, where the next highest score for that game was around 50k and 2 kills — just insane. I’ve only been playing it a few hours, and so far I’m liking it. I can see how you could pay for some huge power advantages over F2P’ers, but I don’t know yet how the game’s matchmaker works — if it’s level-based, hangar-based, some combination of both, or something completely different. It doesn’t have hangars like War Robots per se, any bot in your inventory is available for play in any game. You’re limited to how many bots you can play by how many pilots you have — you start with one, then you can buy more at progressively higher prices (gold). I only have two pilots and and two very slightly leveled bots, and I’ve been the top 1-2 scorer in every game so far, and I’ve seen some of those money bots in a few of them, so skill is still a valuable asset. Bot and weapon animations are pretty cool, though I did experience a bit of lag and freezing in a couple of games. I also have not seen if/how you can swap weapons between bots, though it looks like you can buy or build better weapons similar to the shop bots. Right now the only game mode seems to be beacon capture-based like Domination mode, though most games so far end when one team or the other mechs out. There’s a lot more to it that I’ve either forgotten to mention or just don’t know yet, but I’ll try to answer any questions as best as I can. For anybody needing a break from War Robots and Pix’s shenanigans, it’s worth a look. They’ve got a Fandom wiki page ( robot-warfare.fandom.com/wiki/Robot_Warfare_Wiki) that’s not quite as complete as War Robots’s, but it’s got a bit of info that could be helpful for noobs. I’ll definitely be wasting more time in it later tonight and tomorrow.

I found a game called Warhammer 40000: Freeblade.
Graphics are cool, you can interact with the environment. It’s single player, from what I saw.
Only took it out for a test drive...but was a fun test drive.

Danny Linguini I play Jurassic Monster World with my son (he gets 1 hour of iPad time a day) and we trade off playing matches. It’s so obviously a War Robots ripoff with beacon rush games, a workshop system similar to War Robots, “Dinos” that can realistically only be purchased or gained through insane grinding. Ads that reduce upgrade time or give small amounts of resources (1 per game, like War Robots), light and heavy weapons, unlock additional Dinos to use per match with gold etc etc the list goes on, it’s literally Dino Riders ‘War Robots’. That said, it’s actually pretty fun and takes a decent amount of tactics to do well. Obviously I taught my 7 year old that brawling is life and we’ve got a decent set of Dinosaurs that we’ve customized for brawling and he gets really excited to produce components to make new ones and level them up. We’ve been playing it together for maybe a month but it’s really nice father-son gaming bonding time. If I didn’t know about War Robots I might actually play the game by myself. It’s worth a look, decent amount of real players too. (Warning: obvious tankers with elite “hangars” show up occasionally, but we just laugh it off and my little guy is in awe of the super dinos they use)

Almost all mobile app gaming is based upon tweaking the player base making it think they need to spend model......including this RW game...
The only way to be strong is spend RM....all of these games/devs go after wallets...oatherwise, enjoy the super Dino’s/plasma Mings/max Storm Leeches/or whatever.....
Bummer

Robot Warfare is from another Russian company, Azure Interactive, and the last time I left it, it was doing the full Pixonic imitation swing. The difference between Robot Warfare between War Robots is $120 ninja and samurai robots that can shield and dash with some awful looking artwork.
But RW and that company persisted so it might be ripe to give it a second look. Azure Interactive, unlike Pixo, makes a lot more games however, which can be detrimental as it means the company might have a lack of focus. Two of their games might be more notable than RW however, one of them is the one that has the dinosaurs, and the other involves fighting in sailing ships.

Well, I’m into it now. Been playing a lot yesterday and today, made some decent progress. I’m up to level 14, though I have no idea how high the rankings go. Earned enough gold to acquire a couple of low-end bots from the shop and have been slowly leveling them up. There are still what looks like a lot of AI bots filling out the teams, but there are a handful of live players as well, and teams are usually pretty evenly matched. The good news in that is, games always start within a few seconds. It’s a trade off I’m more than willing to make.
I’ve seen a few higher-end bots in some games, but for the most part they seem to be noobs with more money than skill that have not presented much of a problem. We’ll see how long this lasts, and if it ever reaches that point where reality sets in/the other shoe drops, but right now it’s a pretty fun game.

Having fun is good enough, lol.
Myself, I see their “plan”, and their price points are as high as Pix......so, for now, I uninstalled. One cash grab at a time is my limit!
If I’m wrong, let me know, I’ll give RW another go around!

If I’m wrong, let me know, I’ll give RW another go around! I think their matchmaking system is based on the strength of your bots. I have nothing solid to base this on other than bits and pieces of other players posts in the FB group. I’ve spent a few $$$ (very few) on gold offers and a cheap bot buy, otherwise I’ve been spending resources in leveling up what I have, and the games are still mostly competitive. I get a few one-sided steamrollers both ways, but not many. I’m still enjoying it much more than War Robots.

If I’m wrong, let me know, I’ll give RW another go around! Oof. You may have been right. After the first few days, all the cheap offers disappeared. Now it’s the occasional single weapon for $6.99, and everything else is $20 or more for gold and silver at about half off. No thanks. They got their tree-fiddy out of me already, and that’s probably gonna be it. The good new is, gold and silver so far are more easily grindable than in War Robots; while I don’t have enough gold on hand to just go grab whatever I want, lots of stuff can be gotten with just a week’s worth of pretty normal playing (just a few hours a day). And I seem to have enough silver on hand to keep upgrades going, as long as I don’t speed them up too much with ads. If I do start running low, I can boost silver earnings with ads instead of upgrades. So yeah, the $$$ value of offers is a bit high, but the whole package (so far) is much more palatable then War Robots.

‘Nuther update ...
As I understand it, matchmaker is bot-power based. I still don’t know how they calculate the overall strength of your bots, but the advancement through tougher competition is much more gradual than in War Robots. I’m thinking they have an aggression level for AI bots, too, because in addition to stronger gear, there’s a noticeable difference in the aggression of most of the red team (and even blue teammates) from game to game. I’ve gone head-to-head against enemies who pursue me furiously and don’t quit until I’m dead, or they come at you like a pack of wolves, and I’ve had some just stand there or walk around without returning fire while I tear them up.
But when they turn up the nasty-meter, if you can keep up, they’ll keep it there; if you can’t, they seem to turn it down again after a few losses. It makes playing the game much more fun, but still challenging, and grinding is much less of a, ummm, grind. You know, like War Robots used to be.

The pandemic isnâ??t coronavirus â?? no, itâ??s the complete mental retardation that has infested apparently every ?fluffernutter?ing mech game in existence.
Yes, players in Robot Warfare are just as ?fluffernutter?ing brain dead as in War Robots. Maybe more so. I canâ??t count the number of games where the ONLY beacons captured were the ones I captured. And because I canâ??t be everywhere at once, we usually lose them all. Because my teammates in RW are just as moronic as they were in War Robots. Itâ??s unbelievable.

Oops.....well, I really do believe all mobile app games are really made by Pix, lol
They all want the money....period. Check out something like Raid shadow legends.....even Nova Empire and Second Galaxy are blatant P2W money grabs.
Might as well level up my Arthur since any game I play is the same o same o, lol!
Sorry it didn’t work out for you, Danny......

Cheap offers are fewer and fewer, and other offers keep getting higher. Some games I’m getting pounded by obvious big spenders, but not many, certainly nowhere near as bad as War Robots.

I just tried Dino Riders ... and almost immediately deleted it. What an utter pile of crap. First off, it doesn’t auto-rotate to the position I’m holding my iPad, which makes it very difficult to play if I’m plugged in charging. Strike 1. I started getting motion sickness trying to move that stupid starter dino-thing around. Strike 2. Finally, after badly losing the first three games in less than a minute each, I broke down and tried to watch the game play video (you know, when all else fails, RTFM), which brought me to some generic YouTube page with no game video anywhere in sight. Strike 3, and you’re outta here. Total P.O.S. Thanks a lot.

Retried the game and three points:
The game is vastly improved. I mean stability, speed, the overall look of the app.
The prices are not as greedy as they are before.
I cannot stand the ads that need to be shoved into my face all the time. Sorry.
Sooner or later, Google is going to crack down on ad spamy apps, particularly if they are not using Google's ad engine. Look what happened to Cheetah Mobile.

Look what happened to Cheetah Mobile. Actually stability is just meh. After about 10 games I have to close and restart it because the jumpiness, stuttering and lagging make it almost unplayable. And the more I advance, the more ridiculous the games get. I’d say 8 out of 10 are total whitewashes one way or the other — I’m either stomping everything, or somebody on the reds is stomping me. And I mean by a factor of 3 or 4 — I might get over 1 million in damage and 13 kills, and the next highest player might get 300k damage and 1 kill. Or one guy on the reds will be doing that to everybody else. Maybe one or two out of 10 games are actually competitive. So I’m not sure how much longer this one will last. I might go back to Mech Battle — they’ve implemented a few measures to crack down on unbalanced and overpowered hangars that have made a big difference in game play.

That’s it, I finally had enough. Several games today the controls just froze mid-battle, as if I wasn’t already getting pummeled enough. I won one game today, the rest I and my useless idiot team got thoroughly destroyed by ONE player. That’s how this game is — it’s actually worse than War Robots, if you can believe that. So, done. Deleted, and refunds requested for the few $$$ I did spend.
I am really getting tired of the absolute crap that’s out there for games right now. Or maybe I’m just getting too old for this ?dookie?.

Dino Riders or whatever the hell it is lasted about 3 minutes before it was deleted. Robot Warfare made it about two weeks before its reality reared its ugly head. But they all suck.

Hey Danny. Sorry to bump up an old thread, but i've been playing this during my monthly 1 week break from War Robots. The problem is that the matchmaking is hangar based, so if you get a premium bot or level up past a certain point, you'll be matched against better equipped / more experienced opponents. That's why, though we sometimes hate it, a performance based matchmaker is superior. Though it's by no means perfect, War Robots succeeds in creating just the right amount of challenge to keep you playing (and paying). There are features in RW I really enjoy though, such as weapon designs, 1st person view, auto fire, lock on etc, so i will keep supporting this game and hope they introduce performance based MM.

One year later, I gave this game another shot. Curious, this game is still running around and even has an app rating higher than War Robots.
The UI has been revised, the graphics engine has been updated and everything looks like its HD now.
Same complaints as posted by all previous posts.
Truly fugly premium robots. The older free robots look much better to the eye.
Map designs are awesome. So are weapons designs.
1st Person view seems to have changed to a zoom view, still nearly similar except you now get some persective of your robot.
Auto lock on, manual aiming, next target lock on, these features are a huge thing over War Robots, which after I tried again, still has the same game breaker auto aim issue.
Copied something from B.O.T. You can see it right here.
Game appears to have stepped into issues that were endemic with the classic Mechwarrior games namely, poptarts and missile hell.

I opened my app after weeks, and wot? Who would have known. The game has a massive update. Older mechs have refreshed designs, and they look shinier and more sinister now. Premium mechs still look fugly, but fugly is now in HD, all shinier with more detail. But the biggest thing is that each premium mech now has three skins, and the mech changes to each skin as it is upgraded to the final version. This allows the game to keep the original appearance of the mechs, with some improvements, and let them morph into two revised skins that are more than halfway decent. Finally after the game not having new content other than maps, three new mechs have dropped, while previous premium mechs went into sale. The new mechs have Chinese names but they are not Dynasty Warrior themed. Instead, they are more like Gundams. Each mech has three skins to reflect their stage of development.

Looks beautiful, but personally, I found that beauty to be skin deep. For me, I prefer good game mechanics over high def graphics. I tried RW again a couple of months ago and was only able to stand a couple of games before I deleted it again.

There are still players of this game at this point, but since the last wave of content additions, the game hasn't been updated. I would say the game is dead at this point in terms of future development.
