There is no option for "Yes". I switch bots AND weapons regularly. League also matters. Lower league? Thunder/Orkans are a beast. Higher? Ancile/Turan seems to work best.

If I feel the need for mid-range I run a Zeus Carnage, then a Thunder on the Lance with Tarans on the side. If I want all brawlers I run Thunder Carnage and Taran Ancilot. I'm in Expert II and silver is a precious commodity, so I'm trying to be picky & use forethought as to what gets upgraded next. Appreciate the votes & notes.

I have 2. A thunder orkan which is used to directly counter ancilots. Used as a assault bothe it works really well if you avoid splash.
I run a taran ancilot too. Low dps but when used with smart teamates can changer course of a battle.
In a top hangar IMO you needo both imo

My hangar is 9/10. I have a Taran Ancilot that's lvl 8, with lvl 9 Tarans and lvl 8 Ancile. I've started using it anyway because it's taking too long to level up.
Used properly, it's a beast. (Used improperly you'd lose to a Gareth in a duel, but oh well.)

I vote ancile taran, because I want to use it as a tank to push into a mid beacon when possible. Tarans give that extra range, compared to orkans and deal good damage to other shielded bots. Possibly thunder orkans for closer side beacon encounters on tighter maps, which will help strip away shields before I use my orkans.

I haven't voted coz this is a real conundrum!
I only have one lance, equipped with thunder/tarans but that's mainly due to not having spare orks. I'm now in the process of leveling up two orkans but couldn't decide whether to add an ancile for greater protection, or keep the thunder for busting down ancilot shields before releasing the missiles.
Now, having read this I am wondering whether I should stick with the tarans - I was hoping this thread was going to help me, but I am more unsure than when I started!

As a main course buffet to be shared with friends ?
Seriously though' I have put "other" because I don't have a Lancelot - its a great 'bot however my preference is for fast, mobile play.
What I can contribute is what I find most challenging to fight on Red team: Thunder + Orkans; and What I most like to cosy-up with on Blue team: Ancile + Tarans.

Before I go too far in leveling equipment for the Lance, I wanted to tap the group think... Great quote from General Patton: "if everyone thinks the same someone isn't thinking".

I think I've finally answered my own question, and it came down to another question: as a pilot, are you more offensive or defensive-minded? My inner needle points towards being more aggressive (sometimes to a fault), so for me, at least right now, the Thunder Taran load-out is the way to go. The Ancile's protection from rockets & splash damage is invaluable, but I seem to miss the firepower of the Thunder more. I'll work the Ancile to 12 when I can and rotate that in for variety, but for the moment, the higher risk-reward of the Thunder suits me better.

I have three Lancelots. One is a Thunder/Taran the others are Ancile with Orkan/Taran. As I stated in the odd build thread, I like having the ability to corner shoot and take on any type of bot that is out there. The plasma goes through energy shields and the Orkan goes through physical shields. My only advice is to save your rush for when it's needed when Red is in the area. Don't use it for speed, use it tactically to decrease range, retreat, or circle the opponent.

I have a level 7 ancille//level 8 Orks with a level 8 Lance and love it. It stays alive the longest of any of my bots, and probably gets same number of beacons as my Gary...
I'm going to level him to 9 so I've got max speed soon too...It's a real versatile beast. And the slow walking between brawls and beacons allows for a nice recharge of the Orkans, so it dumps a salvo and has some finishing reload time (vs the Tarans where you are naked for 7 long seconds )....

I voted for ancile tarans when this poll was made, but lately I've been using ancile orkans. The reason being i switched it's roll to a stalwart beacon guard where they have to come to me. This way, the only thing I have to back up against is an Ancilot. With tarans I have to retreat against Galahad, all Lancelots, and Rhinos.
