Hey, I've been piloting a RDB Griff for last few days and just today I got a PDB Griff (with 1 Molot/Punisher as place holder for a missing Magnum)
In the RDB Griff, i've been keeping out of range and doing okay, but I want to know more tips and tactics to pilot it better. As for the PDB, I have no clue... I am getting killed too soon. It feels so squishy (6/6), might be cuz I usually pilot a 6/6 Leo but still, feels too squishy. I think I am too aggressive? (My style is go out in open with Leo since minute manoeuvring is a female dog in that lumbering lump of metal, and blast of stuff. Since KF operations are Kamikazi anyway so I don't bother staying alive after making it to enemy spawn point or after killing 2-3.
But The griff seems to be less hardy. Is it too foolish and aggressive to use the jump to attack instead of backpedal defence? In close maps like DC, Shenzen, PP, the distance is usally less than 350 so it's in range for all weapons. So, how do I pilot the RDB and PDB?? How should I use the jump?
Please help!

lol, don't play the Griffin like a Leo! :-)
Use the jump to...
1: jump straight up from behind cover and unload 2: rapidly close distance on someone you can finish off 3: get away after unloading
A Griffin has a lot of firepower, but not when dead. :-)

Save the jump for when you really really need it. It's a get out of jail free card. Rarely use it just to get some place faster.
The RDB is all about keeping opponents at 500m away from you. If they get too close jump away. Use cover/jump to avoid tridents and snipers. Really a good bot.
The PDB takes patience. Like you said it can be squishy. Try to flank enemies with it. At higher lvls it puts out tremendous DPS and will take out anything from the side very quickly. One of my favorite mechs.
Good luck!

It feels squishy because it really is, especially at level 6, but there are some things you can do to preserve Griffin's durability and maximize your damage:
1º - Let your team agro for you, then you go for the enemies. On Shenzen for example, let your team go for the mid beacon first, and when the enemy team starts shooting at your alies, you can ambush them.
2º - Pick your targets wisely. Do not engage one on one against Lancelots with Tarans, Galahads with Plasma and so on. PDB Griffin is a direct counter to DB Griffin, so they should be easy for you to kill if you manage to jump well.
3º - Dont use your jump just to get somewhere faster, you can wait for an DB Griffin to start unloading, take some hits to make them think you dont have the jump, and THEN you jump away. An experienced DB Griffin will not unload at you completely to see if you have the jump first, so taking some rockets will make them think you are defenseless.
Talking about the RDB, he is a midranger, so there is not much you can do mechanically speaking, since midrangers just stay in the back doing their work. Just stay aware of enemies that may have longer ranges than you, and do not expose yourself too much by overextending from your max range.

Follow another blue knifefighter with your PDB. Shoot what they shoot. They will take most of the hits, but your additional firepower will wipe out reds much quicker so they don't take too much damage either. When they go down, try staying right at the edge of your 350m range and backpedal or jump back if somebody is closing.
