Ok, so here's a video I just recorded of the test server this weekend. Just wanted to give my first impressions of the Atomizer gun. First off, I'm not that impressed. Why do we even need another energy machine gun anyway? Wasn't the Shredder good enough? The Atomizer behaves just like a Punisher that doesn't hit anything. What's the point of unlimited ammo if you can't hit anything? Anyway, I'm sure others will try it more, and have more to say, so hopefully all of you who get on the test server this weekend will come to the forum and share your experiences.

Pix is just using the atomizer to give an impression that they're bringing new things besides the platform merger. It's equivalent to the punisher. Yes, it has unlimited ammo, but when it overheats to can't even hit bots at 300 m.

It seems like the ill-conceived ?illegitimate child? child of Shredder and Magnum, with the worst of each.
edit - it’s an intermission weapon between the new Meta Cryo family and the next big thing.

These things are probably designed to kill Titans. Even if the DPS goes down a bit, the dpm will go up. So titans will go down faster.
Let’s say it takes 20s or 2 cycles to kill 1 Titan. And reload is also 10s.
If the new wep has no reload, but 20% less dmg, then it will take 16s vs 30s. So pretty much twice as fast , so twice as good.
Clear win aka clear sell for pixo. So many old school Punisher T and punisher set ups are back due to their actual usefulness in hitting smtg. Cheap and doesn’t cost alot of silver. Can’t have that.

1) It is the first test, they will very likely tweak it; perhaps to have more damage, but more than likely to give some visual cue as to when it is: about to overheat or cool-down / is overheated or cooled-down. Knowing when to shoot and when to lay off the trigger (even briefly) will help with damage output.
2) Even though you are likely correct, you know the risks associated with describing an upcoming weapon as weak, particularly when Pix receives lots of feedback that affirms that viewpoint; they tend to over-buff for live server (many claimed the ST weapon as weak on test server, look how that turned out).
3) Many (myself included) don't know how to optimally use this weapon yet; when the additional visual cues are added and more experience with it can be had, it does look as though it has the potential to be quite strong. Firing when cool they do about the same damage as already accelerated Punisher-Ts (which is actually pretty hard hitting); they only lose to Pun-Ts on durable targets that cause them to overheat from the excessive constant firing.
4) The overheated state is less likely to be reached on max level ones with damage mods, as the target will likely be dispatched before that over-heat point is reached (barring a few exceptions) unlike when they are at level 8 (remember as you upgrade damage scales up faster than durability does on most bots). Also, the overheating can be mitigated by brief stints behind cover (less than that of a long weapon reload), making it better suited to mobile fighters that have moderate mobility and decent durability.
Think Ravana (2x short phase shifts that also allow weapon cooldown, never caught in a reload, durable, not fast but not slow with mobility based ability).

I'm not that impressed either. A bit like a Punisher T but it *needs* to cool down instead of reload.
It could pair well with Light Shredders as a Medium energy counterpart, but people have to keep letting it cool down.
I'm guessing it doesn't need to cool down as much (if at all) at point blank.
The rawest deal was the accurate aiming that was required. In this lag. Against often highly skilled Test Server commanders.

They should have just made a heavy lockdown machine gun to complement Shredders and Pulsars.

To me, I think it's use case is for brawling. I haven't tried the test server, but I watched a couple of vids, and it does better than the punisher t at < 100m. Mainly because the punisher t needs to reload. I could see closing in on an enemy, holding the fire button down, and keep on closing, as the accuracy decreases. I like to play kamikaze style with my phantom, so it may work fine... Especially with the shotgun nerfs coming.

The Atomizers pair okay with my Shredders.

I gave the feedback that it was unnecessary but if they added the ability to go through all shields including Aegis and Retribution, then it would be a premium weapon. But, this is Pix, so I be they will release the weapons close to what it is now, and then add a pilot skill later on or module or something that will buff the usefulness by reducing the overheat issue.
