I disagree, I think it's exactly as simple as that. Mostly. I mean, we've all been there, right? You drop some cash on a movie and it's complete crap. I think I've walked out of two movies in my life. One was The English Patient (which, at my age now, is probably pretty damn good), and Blast from the Past (which, despite Christopher Walken, will never be good at any age). Entertainment dollars have an inherent risk. Who here hasn'y bought an album before and discovered, to their dismay, most of the songs suck. War Robots is discretinary entertainment money, period, and must be looked at as such. Ok then, we disagree.

I think the Butch was $100. You are out your damn mind if you buy any game character (not even a full game) for that much. You better check your mind state. Go show someone in real life your phone screen and tell them what you are about to buy for 100. Their facial expression will tell you everything. A competitive Magic: the Gathering deck will set you back between $300 and $5000, depending on your preferred format. A solid board game will cost you somewhere between $30 and $90. As a former game and comic store owner, I'd often discuss with customers the idea of value for money. And ultimately, it comes down to two things. Time Enjoyment In essence, it helps to distill an "entertainment rate." How many hours of entertainment are you getting for your purchase? If I go to the movies with my wife, it's $20-40 for two hours, depending on what we get. And if the movie's good, we never second-guess the decision. A $100 bot might seem ridiculous to some- and that's their call- but a game like this can give you huge entertainment value for money if you're not chasing every bot and rushing every upgrade. I spent $50 for the Doc and the Jesse. And if you look at the hours I've rocked them both, it's way cheaper than a movie on a per-hour basis. This is, by the way, the same metric I used to recommend people play Role-Playing Games. The $/hr rate is super-low. If you don't want to spend that kind of money on your entertainment, that's perfectly fine! It's your call, and we all have to make that call based on our own situations. But to run down people for being "out of their damn mind" for that sort of purchase, well, you've got a long, long list of people to slag when you're done. Let's start with anyone paying to go to Disneyland. Yeah but those cards are tangible things that can hold its value. You can sell it to someone or put it on eBay when you are done with it. And there is the rarity part of it correct? (Sorry i don't play the game) I would be more critical for digital content, especially when there is no trading. But your right about the Disneyland thing. ? I think Pixonic is heading down an undesirable place and a dangerous road. But we'll see. The next event will tell us how new bots are going to be handled from now on.

As for the Wild Bunch, my prediction is that each new Expansion will send the previous one down to general availability. But that's not "special", they said it won't be Au, Ag, WSP. I think a present will appear on the field and whoever grabs it first gets a WW bot. The one you get matches the light medium or heavy bot you grabbed it with.

It's important to note that there were two people on the Pixo AMA on Reddit, and both answered this question. One said something special was coming, the other said that the company had no idea yet. Wide open field.

I have both a part time, self employment gig and I am also a full time stay at home Dad. I am finding that spare time is really, really hard to come by. I calculate the worth of my time and what that is worth to me to be quite a bit more than say, someone with considerably more time to waste as they see fit. For me, I wouldn't blink at spending a couple hundred dollars if I thought I would have fun doing it over a reasonable period of time. Walking War Robots is super flexible for me. I can play it in bits and pieces, here and there, and have a blast doing it. If I told my wife I was spending $100 to buy robots in "this silly game" she would tell me to have fun and enjoy myself. I know this because that's exactly what I did during the last event with no regrets at all. If you have discretionary money to spend, and not enough time in the day, your perspective will change.

I hope I'm wrong about this but I have a feeling we are not going to see new bots sold for gold or wsp anymore. The signs are kinda pointing to it. We are probably gona see the wild bunch in other events as part of the pool. Any new things like the Dash bots will go in the event pool for us to win by gambling for them. They knew how much au was farmed prior to the new mm. Enormous amount of their currency is out there. The new company probably saw that on their data so they brainstormed this "special" idea about events. That's why I don't get excited with the new bots. I think they are designing au to be used exclusively for paint jobs and upgrading. Especially the latter as the league is designed to push leveling and moving up the leagues. The new company wouldnt have much say in what pixonic would do with ingame stuff theyre more involved in financial stuff and i wouldnt think that they would force pixonic to get more money from bots

It's the "hur hur, spending munnie iz for moronz" thing I just don't understand.

This reminds me of the guys drinking $15 Dewar's questioning the judgment of those drinking $240 Macallan 18. Neither one is "right". You do you, and enjoy the ride.

How old was the game when it got bought? Probably fair to say it would have changed regardless, but acquisition makes an easy scapegoat. All the signs are there. The new stuff are coming out more rapidly. A lot the purchaseable stuff are being improved so they can be sold better (aphids, rogatka, etc). The paintjobs. Things that were maybe too generous like the workshop is getting phased out. Aggressively pursuing the sealclubbers and exploiters. These are moves of an efficient company streamlining their product. Many of these are long overdue, but the ball is rolling and rolling quickly. Corporate side will do that for companies.

Is that why they are so quickly and aggressively making HUGE game-changing decisions?
Look, I get it,I get corporate greed, I get "hey man we gotta make a living, too--also it has to be many, many times more than what you make." that's fine.
But it's not really fair to us players to change the game meta with a new MM, which we all spent our gold, silver, time, money, and upgrades toward adjusting to, only to have the goalposts moved because Leagues were dropped, which supplanted the entire meta of "weapons before bots." Suddenly you need your bots leveled up just to survive long enough to deal enough damage to stay in the + side league points.
So we've had a month of that "new normal," upgrading accordingly to remain competitive, and suddenly THAT meta shifts to "win at all costs, and instead of rewards for solo you SIMPLY MUST run squads." I have seen more quick bots like Geps grouping in squads today since the old 4/12 silver tier was a thing.
If the entire objective of the game is going to change every few months, we'll never be able to establish a reasonable hangar to compete. At the very least, they can get their act together enough to establish an over-riding game objective. Surly?
I bought and leveled up Tridents for the first time, a pair of them for Carnage, simply because in testing (I use the test server to decide on my next applications on the live server) I could easily stand back and mop up some damage to remain high on the HP scale and soak in some points.
That was all time and money and WSP and AG all wasted, because the entire game meta has once again shifted.

Removed Wild West likely because people on test server were just using them because they don't own them on live instead of actually testing the stuff they were supposed to. Since hardly anyone owns them, people think they will have fun with them on test server. Basically eliminating them so people will test the actual stuff more
