So some time ago I got a tyr from super chest. It sat in my inventory for quite a long time, as I had other upgrades to finish. I just started upgrading it, and plan on replacing my inqusitor with it. The problem I'm having is trying to figure out a way to equip it for team deathmatch mode (I play that mode almost exclusively) where range setups are preffered. Weapons with decent level that i can put on it are magnums and punisher T's, anything else will require a lot of time to acquire or level up. How does one run a short range setup in team deathmatch? Any tactics on getting in range to enemies without getting killed? I'm figuring that I may get away with it as tyr has decent speed?

Hi. You should put punishers and pun-ts and focus on backing up your range players who are taking damage or being hunted by fast attackers to the rear. Level it at least to lvl 9 so that its at max speed and practice cycling your assault/support modes for combat/maneuvering. I hope that helps

For tdm you want either range or speed IMO. So either go with something like pulsars or hussars with halos or marquees in the back, or you can use closer up weapons like tarans, corona, and magnums and halos. Or if you want to mix it a bit use scourge and spark because that build gives you a max range of 600m, but really high damage up close as well. If you plan on getting close always move from cover to cover giving yourself time to heal any lost health, if the enemies are using plasma or bullets use your shield when moving, but if they have flames or rockets move without the shield to make yourself harder to hit use the same strategy when fighting enemies.

I have Tyr on Amazon in my main hangar. Punishers are fine if levelled up some. I would prefer Gusts/Storm as I often get into the furball of battle while healing teammates. And thats with Sharpshooter. As it is I use Rimes and Tyr does great with them even at Mk1. The other two are Coronas. I love Tyrs ability to survive. He gets me damage silver and honor points from healing.

Scourge / Spark wouldn't be a bad setup if you want to stay out of the typical 500m range. Can really put some good damage down if someone did close in. Also Wasp/Sting if you want to stay at the same 500-600 range. They are a little underwhelming but do decent if you level them high enough, that can get pricey though. Another good range would be marquess/hussar. These are options outside the typical punisher/molot/storm type builds. They can be good for kill stealing too.
Lots of closer range options though such as gusts/storms, halo/corona, scourge/spark again, taran/magnum, freeze weapons, etc. You can make almost anything work decent with the Tyr platform imo.

If you mainly want a cheap but effective Midrange (MR) load out, make two Tulumbas and two Pins. They are 500m and deadly with splash damage. Historically that is called Russian Death Button (RDB).
If you want a cheap but effective load out for MR that does better in Close Range, do the Punishers. These will make your Tyr a bit more versatile because they are good at close range, so do better than the RDB will in small maps.
As far as tactics:
- take note of what robots and weapons the enemy is using - select a few targets to hunt - move with care using cover to get to your strike position - avoid tunnel vision; stay aware of enemy positions that may flank you when you are attacking your primary target - have a few retreat plans for safety and reload - keep an eye on your ammo depletion so you are not caught in the open on empty - in general, stay near teammates to take advantage of the power of focus fire, and in a Tyr you want to stay aware of your teams mech hp so you can heal people when they need help
There are so many things to say I think. The main thing is to pay attention to your surroundings when trying to close on a target. I’ve been playing many years in Champ League, and recently was playing my sons account in Silver and Gold Leagues. The biggest flaw players have in leagues lower than say, Master II, is almost complete lack of awareness of what is going on around them. Lol, so much so that I can walk up and stand right next to enemies while firing towards my teammates, and the red doesn’t even notice I’m not on their team.
