I hate the automatic targeting system. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it so much.
Some silly Situations:
1. My sniper Natasha is standing in Yamantau on an elevated position. I have targeted a red one on the other side of the map. Exactly in the moment I fire my Trebuchets the red target marker jumps onto another target which is close to my original one, but behind a wall. Instead of doing damage to MY target I wasted a load to a wall.
2. I´m running my Gareth with Hydras and Aphid. I´m aproching multiple targets in front of me, and I fire the missiles. Suddenly, while firing, the target marker jumps onto another target, which is more than 600m away from me, out of range of the weapons. So they stop firing. Why did the automatic change the target? Why did it pick one that far away?
3. An enemy approached and now is dancing close around me. I have to turn around and round and round, trying to shoot at him. Of course the targeting system looses his track and plays crazy.
4. I´m standing behind cover with my missile-armed mech. A target is locked on beyond the cover. I turn a bit to a side because I want to force the missile to fly a bend around the cover. Unfortunally the targeting system looses his track and jumps onto another opponent which I can´t fight, either because this one is behind cover, too, or it´s out of range.
5. My sniper Natasha is standing in Yamantau on an elevated position. Multiple Opponents hide in the chamber around the middle beacon. I do not have a free line of fire and wait for anyone to show. Then one comes out of cover. I want to shoot him. But my red targeting marker still is on a different opponent. So I focus him and press the change-target-button. But instead of targeting him, the marker just jumps from one different opponent to another different one who is behind cover, too. So I press the change-target-button again. Same thing again, the marker changes, but still not to that guy I wanted. Sometimes, when there are 4, 5 or even 6 opponents close to each other, I have to press this damn button even 4 or 5 times. This gives the guy who came out time to vanish again.
I wish my automatic targeting system would NEVER NEVER NEVER change the target automatically.
I wish I could configurate my targeting system so that target lock is ALWAYS activated.
I wish there would be two buttons, one for changing the target and one for target lock, instead of only one button which unites both functions.
I wish the target-change-button was bigger.
I wish the target-change-button was MUCH bigger.
I wish there would be 6 buttons: Target lock on enemy player 1, Target lock on enemy player 2, Target lock on enemy player 3, ...etc...
I wish the automatic targeting system would NEVER pick targets which are out of weapons range while others are in range.
I wish the automatic targeting system would show me somehow whether I have a direct line of fire or if there are obstacles in the way.
Please, PIXONIC, improve the targeting system. And when you done it, improve it even more, because it´s really really bad.
