New change. Everyone on the losing team loses more league points, everyone on the winning team gets more league points. The short of it, you are really going to hate tankers and ditchers for ?firetruck?ing you up a few games in a row.
Maybe they are rewarding tankers and ditchers for their diligence. Much easier for them to get silver and still lose major points now.

Change to league points. It is on the fb page. Top damage on losing team no longer gives points.

I can't believe how dense PIX's development team is. The problem is that single data points are very poor indicators of skill, not the cup reward amounts. It's always all or nothing with them, is a little complexity to much to ask? I mean the old MM took a degree in rocket science to figure out, surely they can figure out how to include beacon captures, liberations, kills, and damage into match placement? Losing faith in Pix fast.

At least this is better than whatever they had before. It no longer rewards players who ignore beacons in the hope of scoring top damage on the losing side. It's probably the best they can do without a client update for now.

I agree, but, wow, -14 for 5 kills, 4 caps, 527k damage and placing second on the team? ... that's a stiff penalty for being on the losing team.

The new point system is even worse then before. Why? What would you replace it with? The winning side is good but I would put something like -0 -2 -4 -6 -8 -10 for the losing side. People can get disconnected and lose alot of points or just get unlucky with the team mates and lose alot. There is a big chanse that people will stop playing the game if the dont move up the leagues. Pixonic want to make money dont they so its in there intrest to make people move up the leagues.

Well Pix have had two attempts at assigning points, and each time the positive points and negative points have balanced, so they want the points lost and gained to match. I can see why you'd award less negative points, but there must be a reason why they don't want to do it. Perhaps people would rise up the leagues too quickly.Pix wants people to rise up the leagues either very slowly, or to buy gold to upgrade weapons and bots to rise quickly.

Meh, it will take more trial & error but eventually things will get better.. I personally think top 3 on losing team should just get nothing.. that way they don't get punished for their hard work but they don't get points either. But their needs to be a balance for those who work hard to keep beacon blue. They still put to much importance damage only..

Just finished a game: 600+k damage, 3 beacons, 3 kills, and minus 14 or something ridiculous.

I agree that top 2 or 3 on losing team should get 0, or maybe lose only 1-5. At this point, if my team is losing badly due to incompetent teammates (e.g., campers that refuse to switch bots when we are down 4-1 on beacons and 6-5 on bots), I really have zero motivation to continue the match. The difference in points loss between 1st and 6th on the losing team isn't enough to make it worth my time.

It's hard to get those epic comeback wins with the new system. At least in the old system people stayed in the hope of getting the max damage rewards.

The difference in points between top and bottom damage is everything. If you have a 50/50 win rate, the only way to move up is to average above position 3.5 on your team. If your win rate is over 50% you can be lower in the ranking. Pix has some levers to pull. They could increase the point spread vs damage. Too high and people care less about winning. Too low and people whine more about bad teammates. They could also lower and raise the absolute amounts. What they can't do is make it positive points for everyone, which is what people seem to want. -Amid

If you're a "better" player then the "average" players in your matches you should be gaining points (at net).
If you win and take top spot you get +18. If you lose and take top spot you get -12.
18-13= +6 (net)
If you're breaking even (or losing) then you're probably right where you're supposed to be (league wise). Crap teammates will continue to take -18 points sinking their leagues faster than you, which in turn will provide you "better" matches.
Just like the last two MM iterations it's taken weeks for things to level out. Until players realize damage chasing doesn't guarantee points, expect continued losses with people refusing to grab beacons.

More damage doesn't equal a better player or a even a bigger contribution to a win,ESPECIALLY at lower leagues. This is the problem with only using damage and changing the cup awards does not address that.

At some point, you get where you're going, where you're meant to be. Then if you rise above this, you start getting crushed by better players. I don't think the issue is with losing points, I think people's reactions thus far have been to how MANY points you lose. I think Cutting the losing scores in half would go a long way towards sorting out anomalies in the player base. The current system is a total disincentive to play. Not the model you want for a game that's meant to, you know, be played.

Not the model you want for a game that's meant to, you know, be played. The absolute point level changes how much fluctuation you see around your correct level. It also determines how quickly you get where you belong. What it doesn't do is affect where you'll eventually end up and average around. If there were net positive points there would be inflation and the leagues would keep needing to get reassigned. -Amid

Agreed, however the new points distribution no longer completely screws beacon cappers as compared to the previous league iteration. The point reallocation was made to specifically address the fact that guys who grabbed beacons were being severely penalized (win or lose) as compared to damage dealers. I agree that match awards should factor in beacons (instead of top damage, have it be a composite score), however that's simply not the case yet. At least (now) beacons matter "more" thank they did in the last mm.

How do you figure that beacon cappers are less penalized? If I place 4th on the losing team because I was not ignoring the bar I'm going to lose even more than the schmucks that are ignoring the beacons in order to run up their damage total. How about zero, zip, nada for everyone on the losing team. For the winners have the league points follow the gold awarded for damage inflicted (top 2) and beacons capped (top 2) with just a couple points going to players that did neither as well for being on the winning side.
Top contributors move up quicker, others slower according to their efforts or abilities.
For the losers, 0. Gives everyone an incentive to win even if playing solo.
The way it works now, solid competitive team players are penalized if the other players chosen for them by the mm aren't up to the task, drop off or have a bad connection.
I'm starting not to give a flying fork Bout the league(s) or which one I'm in. Pretty soon I'm going to just start killing everything in sight and screw the beacons.

Over time (especially since the MM cheats to try to force everyone to 50 % win rates) it's still only damage that decides your league points. It's just they restructured things to stretch that out over time, and to give some semblance of encouraging more balanced play (taking beacons, trying to *win*) in the shorter term.

Even though it allowed as all to advance eventually without balanced points, top beacons on losing team should get points - 10? Which gives incentive to work towards a win. New system results in too many times of my playing 3/4 on 6 as we try to save negatives. Others just leave

Where would the beacon points for losing team come from? Say the losers got 6 beacons (which they didn't hold). 12 points has to come out of winners, so they get 2 fewer points each? If you're going to include beacons in point consideration, it should be that player rank is a combination of some calculation based on beacons and damage. -Amid

Why do they have to come from anywhere? It's all imaginary currency to begin with. They'd just get an adjustment. If you got -14 and capped 3 beacons you'd still be losing 8 points.
