STATUS REPORT.
• What is going on? I am working on the update.
• When? It was scheduled in November ... now it is already evident in December. First there will be a Polygon.
• Why deadlines are broken, why so long? Different reasons. Basically, of course, not planned features, such as a new UI or internal refactoring. Which required an appropriate technological base, refinement of the engine, shaders, creation of a tools set, etc. The concept from initial to final has changed dramatically, as the development of technical capabilities and the emergence of tools set. This is of course more investment in the future than the result necessary for this update. If I had a boss, I certainly would never be allowed to do that. In addition, work with outsourced artists, tech. control, as well as acquaintance and selection of artists (in the near future, the game will require a lot of content) sometimes simply took away all the time. Well, summer with the family at sea, where the family simply did not allow me to hard work on the game for 20 hours a day. One way or another, many processes are now established, I think the balance between the desire to give you cool game mechanics, physics, destructibility, atmospheric terrestrial and unearthly locations, unique military equipment and so that the realization of these desires does not ruin the community and the game is found, and I hope more will go more vigorously.
Why do we need a new UI? Old is a temporary placeholder, and does not look very good. And to continue to make new features on it (and there are a lot of UI features on the short list, the same leaderboards, custom games, chat, daily tasks for players, clans in the end) it will be a double job with transfer to a regular UI.
• What is so grandiose in the update? The list is something like this: - New UI - Leaderboards - Skin MAO - Engineering premium now gives -50% discount for the upgrading to the new tier. - The range of missiles will not depend on the trajectory - Balance changes and innovations designed to solve actual problems - Fixes and improvements to the camera and control, solving issues on which numerous complaints were received - Bugs fixes
The list does not look like a grandiose, given the time spent. Nevertheless, the pendulum swung and flew back. After this update, I plan to “return” to a more business-oriented approach and regular updates. The two-week update cycle, until the team grows, will not be easy to withstand, especially considering that the game is in active development and there are really big tasks. But “this time” I will try to cope, before heavy updates two light updates (1 week, 1 week, 4 weeks) release evenly with 2 weeks interval. The internal plan of tasks and the roadmap have already been adjusted and prepared, and will soon be published in the public roadmap.
• When will the team be finally recruited and RB will become an AAA studio? Financial planning was also carried out depending on the scenario (with successful partnerships and investments (which is most likely) or without them) in the 20th year a team would be formed with which it would be possible to successfully not only comply a road map, but also confidently implement those serious plans that exist and compete with serious studios like NetEase, TiMi Studios, etc., under the wing of serious publishers. What about pressing balance issues? What about tormcorm? Due to the features of Cormorant, his intelligence and ranged capabilities are unprecedented. Is it worth it to limit flights to Cormorant? Plus, engine restart (cooldown before transforming to the flight mode) will be slightly increased (somewhere by a second) As for the Tormentors themselves, unfortunately they never found a worthy place and niche. There is an idea to transform them into a more sniper weapon, namely in the base of 3 rounds with a rate of fire say 1 shot in 1-3 seconds with a relatively long reload of the magazine. And of course, the damage will increase significantly and the damage curve will not fall so catastrophically with distance.
