The BUFF has been in service more than 50 years and still going strong. She's a beautiful aircraft.

Oh man, flying fortess FTW. They definitely don't make planes like they used to...well, the Russians still do. Hehehehe. But yeah, with everything I've read about the newest generation of US military planes, and for the length of time they've been hyping them up, what we can do now with the latest tech, the end result is far less impressive than the "revolutionary promises". This is taking all costs into account as well. From the docos I've seen, one of the main publicised reasons for shelving the older models are the upkeep costs. Pffft. What about the dev costs and upkeep costs of the new planes? So much higher than the older ones.
On the other hand, they're just docos and articles...no idea how much I don't know about them, so...can't really judge 100%. Still, I might just love the profiles and designs of the older models more because I grew up drooling over them.
