I for one have always loved watching people try to explain why "your hanger sucks and you MUST run ares and ao jun" because it is so useless. It is even better when people who play all high damage bots say tanks and mobility suck.
I have even watched people saying tanks play the best and that mobility and damage are overrated, as well as mobility is the best, but why does everyone say such different things and why is there no clear winner amoung these 3 types?
Preference. One word, lots of importance. As I have said on several threads, people should play for fun and make hanger choices based on what they have fun with. So when people do make the choices right and get hangers of straight mobility damage or tankyness you see opinions go all over the place.
So what im saying is that you may love using tank bots but that doesn't mean that damage dealers are useless, or that mobility can't be used to great effect. It simply means you are playing how you have the most fun and they are as well.
Don't dump on people for using more tanks or damage dealers then you do, please. I have seen it a lot and it kinda makes me laugh and kinda pisses me off. Please people, we are on here to help each other out, not fight over the best playstyle.

I literally just made a post about how all these meta bots are trash and people need to stop crying about how op "no skill" they are.
This is an absolute lie.
If it was no skill, ez, whatever else people tear over then even a simpleton like me would be doing better, especially with everything to level 9 minimum.
Fact is I have never performed worse than I have with Ares, Ao Jun, and Leech.
So yeah it DOES take skill to pilot these things. Just saying.
「dookie」 even a 「fluffernutter」ing stalker helps ME more than Ao Jun.

Also ares and ao jun require low skill to run, but they do require skill. The problem with them is that they don't NEED skill to be played so anyone can get kills woth one but having more skill than you need for them makes you a hard to beat target. Just because a robot takes low skill to play doesn't mean you can beat it easily. Take a T-falcon for example, there is no need to know anything but how to run and shoot so you only need low skill to run one, and even then it is hard to beat. If you do have skill then it becomes better.

So I don't consider myself a great player, but based on everything everyone says, I should be infinitely more effective with those 2, yet here I am selling level 9 AJs for silver to upgrade my inquisitor. So for meeeee, Ao Jun takes way more skill or whatever luck etc... I get all the time godlikes with Natasha. I have never once, not even once got a double kill on Ares or Ao Jun. I use those mechs, I'm dead in seconds.

You can sugarcoat things anyway u want it’s pretty obvious which bots are the most powerful this doesn't pertain to what I said. The thread is about what roles the bots in someones hanger fill, not meta or non meta, please stay on topic because I don't want a long discussion on meta. Also, there will always be the "strongest" bots but fhose are only the ones that win in a 1v1. Battles are messy so you can take those players out no problem if you use teamwork, play smart and there is no one who can beat you.

You must prefer bots like the ones you have, not the meta bots, when you used the meta bots you must not have picked up on their playstyle (very hit and hide so please don't learn this) which means you were putting yourself at ranges or in positions where the bot didn't work. I do much better in those meta bots than most because I am adept at the ambush playstyle, which is much like the hit and hide style that ares and ao jun use which is why I get only triple kills and better in them, so if you are more specialized at playing a tank for example you wont do as well in a mobile bot.

For myself, I have a couple simple rules to explain my hangar:
1) I don't like duplication. You will rarely see me running more than of of a certain Bot, or more than one of the same type of weapon. 2) I'd rather fight the Meta than chase it. I've never been a fan of the "in thing". Plus, with a limited budget, I'd rather develop and master what I have than constantly change it up and have to start over. If the ranking system hadn't changed to give so much reward for Healing, I'd still be running Dragoon Carnage instead of my Tyr, and be in the process of MkII-ing some weapons instead of fighting to get a new Bot and 4 new weapons up to level 9 or higher again.
I came up through Gold/Diamond leagues running Griffins and Golems against Haechis and Bulgs. Now in Champions League I'm running Inquisitor and Hover against Ares, Leech, and Ao Jun. And doing better now than I was then. It's fun being the Underdog.

I like this thread.
I use a strider/invader/falcon(non-trad)/ raven and rhino. And while I may not have the highest possible league points, the options and fun those bots create makes me enjoy the game. Meanwhile I'll play skirmish with 5/5 god bots and wonder how people actually enjoy this kindergarten playstyle. I learned to count to 20 therefore im a bigshot. 「fluffernutter」ing stupid.

I've had fun in a Nashorn Fury. I'm not gonna run it all the time but it's fun to single shot snipe sometimes.
There's really too many bots and build to list what i find fun.
And that's the only reason why i play the game.

I was so sick of being told that some bots were useless that I ran a hangar of useless bots all the way to Champions League and managed to hang in there for 2 seasons. I even went as far as to use the extra useless bots with the extra useless weapons and underleveld at that. Silver bots with silver weapons at level 10.
I wasn't easy but it was strangely satisfying to play. I even set my current max damage with that hangar when I was in M1 making a push into Champions League. I play the game to run different hangars and builds. I often make hangars based on a whim or theme. In the case of the Ag hangar it was both a hangar theme and a challenge so I found it very appealing.
I also like to run a 'meta legacy' hangar if that makes sense. That is when I use legacy bots and the new weapons to build a hangar to deal with the current meta. I just finished a Viper Shredder Natasha to deal with all the high DR bots out there now. My Rhino hunts lone Ares and my Aphex Griffin punishes Ao Jun as they land. My Ghost Lance does it's thing to the reds and mostly shrugs off Ares retribution.

My Hangar is pretty random, I use what I get by events and can handle - currently surprisingly meta (just by luck, ok, paid 8,49€ for the spectre): AO Jun/Viper, Fenrir/Taran/Avanger, Falcon/Avenger, Bulgasari/Storm, Spectre/Orkan, everything is level 7 with level 10-11 weapons.
But I prefer assassins: get into the enemy's shield, then use shotguns to get the opponent down. Works nicely with the Bulgasari, sometimes with the spectre (I'm no fan of Orkans, the reload is killing me and the jump is too hard too aim to land within a shield) - Ares are nice training targets...).
Sometimes I take my old carnage with 2 avengers for a Stroll and play it that way, still a lot of fun. Currently I'm working towards energy shotguns, but that takes ages and is terribly expensive. I would prefer something like Phantom, Blitz, Strider, Pursuer or even Loki, but somehow I always get other bots - next will be a Nemesis from operations pass (I hope to get to level 90 for a second Pulsar, so I'll have a Nemesis with the ugly +5 skin (dersert)).
Before I get rid of the Orkans it want to get them to level 12, after that i'll check my storage for what to do with the Spectre, I think it will end up in storage and be replaced with the Nemesis, although I would like at least one jumping bot...

Skill can get you far in this game. There are pilots on this forum that can take almost any bot, and make it work for them. The new OP bots needing great skill; LOL, like OMG. Sometimes it just takes common sense to land your Au Jun behind cover. The put down about, "they don't know what they're talking about, it takes skill." Blah, I am a terrible hover pilot. Does that mean I have no skill? LOL, more like I don't have the patience to learn.

Sometime back in late 2016 or 2017 I got my first Carnage and completely fell in love with it. I loved its playstyle and its design. So then I decided to become the best Carnage pilot the game has ever seen. After getting my 2nd Carnage, I decided to keep going and build full hanger. 2 years later, I have 10 Carnages (lol). Many people said that the Carnage is trash and won't make it past Diamond or Expert League. So I wanted to prove them wrong and kept playing it until I hit a ceiling. 2 years later, I'm stuck in Champion League and only tanking allows me to drop to safer pastures. While I have no problem hanging out in Champs, there's not much reason to do so. Champions League is littered with princess bots, and the rewards suck. But to get back on topic, I play my all Carnage hanger cause it's my favourite bot and I consider myself one of the best Carnage players in the game My goal is to FULLY max out my bots and see what their absolute ceiling is with maxed everything.

Amazing bot that has so many uses including beacon capping and assassin. Literally you can put any weapons on him and he will have no problem (I run dragoons!). Just head over to strictly striders, great folks over there! Heres the link: war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/30995/strictly-striders?page=24

I have almost always play what I liked, until the Greeks came to the workshop, I decided to eat them (not ares) and I just don't like using them as much as my other boots, the it's the same reason why I got rid of my traditionalist, sure it was a probably a better sponge that my fenrir but I hated using it, I also didn't like the shield, shoot, hide of the nemesis, it can be worse than the ares because you are out for 4 seconds gone for 8 repeatedly. So goodbye and hello tyr, the healer that I was missing that is mobile like the mender but can constantly heal like the Weyland. And I finally have one last bottle left, the Hades, it's is a really good bottle but I still don't like it that much, who knows I might bring it out in the future, but pretty soon as second strider is taking it's place

I get bored of stuff easy so I like having a few different ways to play.

Shotgun and Pulsar/Scourge/Hussar setups are what I currently see and run. Key with the Leech like Ao Jun is your 18s plan. If you don't have this mapped and run into a field of reds, you're toast. Btw I only run in after I've picked and locked my tether, made sure every bot is clumped so I get cross fire to redirect, and make sure there's an Ares that will get some killing.

I have been playing this game for about 2 years now. I like to collect Robots. Because of this thread I did a recount of the bots in my Hanger ( I only have one Hanger deck ) and Garage. So far I have collected 41 Bots, all are different models. Quite a few of them were built in the WS. If I like a certain bot it gets leveled up to Mk1 L9 at a minimum. If not it might make it to L6. There are a few older bots that are at Mk1 L12 but I don’t play them very often.
Recently I took all of the weapons and modules off of all my bots, ( except the Butch, it has 4 Zenits for a load out and it is just a big Troll) then chose five bots that Have been collecting dust in the garage. I loaded out these bots with my best weapons and started playing. After each match I choose a bot in the hanger, remove it’s weapons and replace it with another bot / weapon set-up from the garage. I find this to be very entertaining and challenging. I am often surprised by how well some of the bots do. I played my L4 Vityaz with 2 L9 Marquees and a L9 Dragoon. The first match it garnered a “Godlike” ... the next match it was wasted right after it dropped onto the map.
Weird hangers? I suppose that all depends on what’s in a persons hanger when you make the effort to look at it.

I do something similar but have a new hangar a month and only play and upgrade those bots, weapons and pilots. This is my second month and it is quite challenging getting used to the new hangar loadouts and slowly you get used to the intricacies of each bot build. You become quite skilled at each of them by the end and kinda miss them when you changed out. Vityaz is great with calamity and sparks. And on a Natty even more so.

I have them all though. I have bulwark and falcon, I have Hellburner and Strider, I have Hover and Butch, I have Ares and Spectre. From to tank to capper to flying to long range to knifer.
That's why I have skill. Drop me in any hangar and I can make it work. Playing the same repetitive manner just for make believe resources does not a great game make. Some weeks I just log in to play skirmish and top off workshop.
