Let me play with my friends. Should be able to add via player ID. Sources (this forum) say that's impossible. That sucks.
K, thnx bye.

Let me play with my friends. Should be able to add via player ID. Sources (this forum) say that's impossible. That sucks. K, thnx bye. I have a fb account, I created it, added people I knew and never logged in again and won't. There are some valid reasons to link FB (consumer data being a big one, and the ability to generate community and buzz around your game) it is the dominant platform. Adding a friends list, and more options to chat is a can of worms from several perspectives. The first is server resources, and there is no way around how much of that your going to need. The second, and more important is COPA compliance. By getting your consumer data from fb you block this pool of users inside their filter... by not doing it your opening a big can of worms. Lastly I would rather have new maps and bots than this feature. I could join a clan or use FB if I wanted it, I have choices but I am choosing not to use them.

Or the more expensive option, start a clan

Just make a dummy facebook account. Problem solved.

You do know that this forum is not a direct connection to Pixo, right? B. Find a clan that all of you can join - it's free to join/quit clans...only costs gold if you want to start one C. Dummy FB is simple to create for the game...why the issue? K, thnx bye.

I'll create my own clan with my dummy account. It's still dumb that we can't add friends to a list already in game, by using user IDs, a feature that is already programmed into the game. It should be fairly simple to add with their current game design. I went to school for comp science, so I'm aware of the technical aspects, fyi. C. I've had issues connecting my actual Facebook account, and have not actually been able to add friends. But I guess you didn't consider that, now did you? K, thnx bye.

Great - just clarifying as some new posters believe they have a direct line to Pixo through this site. B. Sure - but there are a lot of clans out there with very few people in them so you can avoid the gold charge to start a clan. It is great to hear you have a comp sci degree...I'm very impressed. I didn't comment on your technical understanding of game coding...I'm glad to hear it is simple...perhaps you can create that subroutine and send it to Pixo to incorporate? C. You didn't mention that you had problems connecting your FB account which, using your words, is "fairly simple" so creating a dummy account is a good option to keep RL and game friends separate or a "fairly simple" approach to solving your problem. I apologize for offering a suggestion and will never bother doing it with you again as it appears to offend you. With a name like "copilotjesus," I assumed some things and I guess Jesus to you is a Hispanic dude instead of The Dude I'm thinking of. Sorry that my response to your rant was so awful. K, thnx bye.

The name was more for fun. So many people say Jesus is their copilot, so here I am.
The code should be really simple. Each user has a list of friends. It's probably an arraylist of players, but it could just be a list of strings that are then searched for by the database when a player is accessing their friends list. They already have the code to add friends to this list. It should be something like:
//setup scanner to read user input Scanner reader = new Scanner(Systrm.in); //prompt user for input System.out.println("Enter Pilot ID"); String newFriendID = reader.nextString(); Player tempPlayer = get.Player(newFriendID); //check if player exists If tempPlayer = null { System.out.println("That Pilot ID is invalid"); return; } //add player to friends list Add.friendsList(tempPlayer); System.out.println("Pilot " + getname.tempPlayer() + " has been added to your friends list."); return;
They would have to add some stuff to the graphic user interface. Specifically a button and a prompt to add friends, and then some display messages as needed. Nothing too complicated.

copilotjesus FYI the game is built on Unity3D with scripting in C#. But nice java code you got there (save for one typo) I would seriously consider helping Pixonic with code if they needed it too lol. But I imagine they have interests in protecting their IP and it's not as simple as it sounds.

The code should be really simple. [...] Pretty obvious to me that you have no idea of the real complexities.
