I’m a gust pursuer and Ork Haechi pilot (yes, pilot cause I drive these things) so 5.3 had some stuff for me to deal with. But it I will say the match reward/HP changes are (begrudgingly admitting this) really pretty good. It rewards winning play styles more than damage wh . . . err, dealing. I was pretty certain this change would significantly nerf silver and tie it to a set HP reward, but it appears I may have been wrong. Before 5.3 first place would not have happened here. It’s a small change, but a little extra gold is never bad and feels good that beacons get more recognition after the match now. Playing to win vs playing for top damage is better rewarded now. Anyone else agree or have other silver linings in this update to share?

Excluding the gust situation, I honestly feel its a very generous update. Kind of taken me by surprise. I usually go for damage only so I am not at the top of the table these days but I am completely ok with other plays styles being rewarded

Nerfs and buffs happen all the time but this is the first update I have ever seen that actually gives back to the player base. And it does so significantly. After years of bleeding the reward system dry, I can finally say, well done Pixonic.

Silver lining for me is my Mender is rewarded a little more for running around and healing teamates (and itself). Don't see many menders around so usually the "Allies Healed" honor point category is easy HP pickings that most of your team won't have access to.

I also had to shelf the Orkan Haechi (level11), replacing with the under-leveled Blitz (level 6). It is fun, but not yet strategically significant - I am using it as a joker for now but expect it getting better. I also have to drop two Gusts (level11) reserved for this Blitz, at the moment using old Magnums instead.
I hope one day Orkans get restored a bit since I like its mechanics with slow projectiles a lot.
A surprise silver lining in 5.3 was the Bulgasari buff. I think this actually improved win rates since my Taran-Corona Bulgasari with Adamant Road Hog can run for beacons while blocking Ares orgasms at the later stage of a battle. The second Bulgasari with Scourges can actually brawl, with Road Hog and Shield Expert, in my second hangar for larger maps. I want to get its pilot Guidance Operator in the next promotion,

Yup, think everybody might need to get a healer of some type. It’s easy HP right now.

Dont give away the secret lol or else too many healers running around will make it hard to be the top healer on your team.

I'm totally NOT getting an extra 400 HP every match just because of my Mender and moving up 1-2 spots in the rankings consistently above people with higher scores. Nope...not happening.

While i had to put my weyland back in, and still barely get 2000 HP. it's still heavy dmg focused. most of the score will come from kills and dmg and streaks.

True, but most of my games come with 1 or 2 heavy hitters on both sides (I'm not one of them FYI). I'm usually fighting for positioning among the 2-5 spots. I had one game over the weekend on Moon where I scored 5th in damage, but actually GOT beacons and healed some and came in 2nd in honor points. Would have come in 5th before. Most will definitely come from Damage, true, but how many games would you have moved up a spot or 2 if you had 400 more HP? It's real man...but if you don't want to do it, I'm happy to jump ahead of you in the rankings. Don't worry, you'll benefit too! Just hang near my Mender and I'll keep you safe. We will all benefit!

I'm quite happy with the new upgrade. Especially how it shows the combat results. Much less clumsy than the previous way. Plus I like the "Operation Gathering Storm" system. Payouts are coming often, and they are pretty generous.

So far, more than agreeable: Ops is far more flexible and generous, and while there is a pay stream, it doesn’t exclude me as thoroughly as old rewards did.
I no longer feel strangled when trying to pick which of the many urgent upgrades gets the next pennies. I no longer go into battle hoping I have a fun game and don’t get squashed- which makes me think they may have finally done something sensible to the matchmaking. Action on the field has been MAD the last few days, but not feeling screwed by the MM, and it seems the general run of pilots on the field has gotten more of a clue, so I no longer feel like the only player....
Overall, the game seems to have recentered - or be recentering - itself. Prices are still obstacles, but not insurmountable; grind is still there, but it’s productive, not useless, and it’s not grueling...having received 12,000,000 Ag and 600 Au today and probably clearing level 35 before bed.
Maybe not for everyone to the same extent, but the fun is back - it can be a GAME again.
If they can keep it stable like this for 9-12 months, they’re gonna need new servers...servers and maps...everywhere

I'm actually playing a lot more now than I did before pilots. There was a point I was down to 1-2 games per weekend, on the verge of deleting the app because everything was so damn expensive and I was getting hardly any silver coming in. Even when I played I was getting only 200-400k silver per match. Now with the new honour and reward system plus operations I'm getting 500-800k Ag per match not to mention the silver from operations. This allowed me to do a ton of upgrades, finish my Ao Jun and now I'm definitely more engaged. I don't even mind the MM as much, bring on the Mk2s lol.

The FREEDOM!!! Event and introduction of pilots shifted things a lot IMV: improved silver during the event, upgrade discounts, etc pulled my play level up in several ways, and pilots (customized module framework) shifted the focus away from what had to be overcome to what could be *done*...throw in the anniversary, and there were plenty of new tech in new hands, along with new resources. When Pix was giving everyone a Kumiho and Quizzer they were trying poorly to do what they’ve done well now: make upgrades and upgraded play more available to everyone. By my birthday, I’ll have a mostly new line-up in my hangar, might even add a second one, with leveled-up gear and “seasoned pilots” (reworked bot-specific module sets)....
I kind o’ don’t want to encourage them too much, but goddammit I’m excited...
