Hi there, 'tis I, Pilot FM9CUY, Knight of the Junkbots, Sir Laze-a-lot, Commander Missedhits..err you get the idea. First of all, I'll let this screencap do the talking. So, my question is this. What have I been doing wrong? See the Max Damage stat? Lately, I haven't been reaching even 1/2 of that. Not even getting any gold. What should I do to reach atleast 300K in damage? Also, tips in piloting that damn Leo is welcome. I mean, Please tell me. I haven't bought any WP bots but eyeing the Rhino and Stalker. But first 2XTarans and 1XMagnum, what do you guys say? And again, please so help in what should I do to improve my game.. Thanks in advance!!

Here is some hangar advice first: Replace the Cossack with a Thunder Pinata Vityaz Remove the mganum from the Leo and put a Pinata The Patton should become all Pinatas.
Here is the purchase guide (all in order): WSP -> 2x Tarans, 3x Magnums, 2x Tarans, Rhino, 2x Tridents, Carnage, Stalker, Fujin. Gold -> 5th slot, 4 Orkans, Galahad, Fury / Lancelot, 4 Aphids, Fury / Lancelot (whichever one you didn't buy first), Ancile.

And if I remove the Mag from Leo, since it's configured for Knife, uh won't that be bad since the Thunder has a reload time and not that accurate beyond 100m? And if I remove the Cossak, how will I cap beacons? Just asking since I dunno the game very well, please don't take offence.. As for the WSP buys, what should I put the Tarans and Mags in?

Keep the Magnum, but not in your active hangar.
If you remove the Mag from a Leo and put in a Pinata, you are using a build that even I sometimes use. Thunder has no reload time and fires 9 shots in 9 seconds until the fire rate is halved. The Thunder is effective in <250, which is about the same as beacons.
If you remove the Cossack, the Vityaz will be your beacon capper. Bit slower, but you will find out soon that you cannot cap a beacon with an enemy red standing next to it with a light bot.
You should put Tarans on a Boa first, then the Griffin.

If it were me I would replace the Cossack with a Boa Thunder /taran ... level it up ... very usable and underrated until you move up
How much do you have to spend ? Gold & Workshop points?
I would probably drop the gecko too... have 4 molot patton
When you put weapons on a bot try not to turn it into a swiss army knife - the griff you have is a very good base build all missiles have the same range ...alll you have to do with that one is learn how to get the best out of it

Yeah but the OP said he was thinking of buying 2 tarans... which made me think he could afford at least 1 ...
without knowing his "budget" in Au & WSP it is difficult to know

I ground out a 5th slot while holding onto my Cossack (it's still there now, too). It doesn't get as much use as it used to, but it's pulled a few games out of the gutter with late-game caps. I would swap the Patton to quad pinatas. Learn to follow a heavy around and fire salvos at stuff that they've already engaged. Typically, folks will prioritize a heavy as a greater threat, and tend to shoot at those FIRST (but not always). Fire half your load, then the second half. I found that 1) This reduces the danger of missing and 2) sometimes folks will hide/dodge the first salvo, then walk right into the second one. After you fire, move behind cover (even if that cover is a friendly heavy) while you reload. Remember: the Patton isn't a knifer, it's a support bot. If you're alone, you're doing it wrong. I'd run a Thunder on the Leo, plus some mags. If you don't have the WSP necessary, make it a priority. Mags are handy. In the meantime, pinatas are a solid option as well. Your Leo is a knifer, but a slow and lumbering one with no mid range capabilities. Use cover, to approach, fire a salvo, then return to cover. Practice corner shooting as well. On Canyon, get to the middle and use the bridge footing as your shield. *Edit* Also, if you're going to run a pair of pinatas plus a magnum or molot or whatever, pair the pinatas on the same side. That way you can fire the full salvo from cover (corner shoot) or maintain constant fire from the opposite corner. As is, with the pinatas on each wing, you have one side that does a single burst of damage and then becomes useless. As far as a the Cossack, stop leading with it. It's not going to last long in the opening salvos of the battle. The reds are looking for soft targets, and your happy little bounding butt fits that bill perfectly. Plus, everyone is looking at beacons in that first 120s, so running to them is a bad idea. Drop it as #3 or #4 in your lineup. The battle will be raging and attention will drop off of side beacons. That's when you bound in. The Punisher loses usefulness pretty quickly, so get a Taran or Orkan for it. The Taran deals more damage per minute, but the Orkan is a better salvo-then-run-away weapon. You shouldn't ever try to Duke it out in a Cossack; either ambush and hide or corner shoot. You've not got enough armor to fight fairly. That Griffin is solid. I'd probably lead with it from the start. Shoot for groups of reds, if possible, as you'll splash damage everyone (free damage!) Maintain a 415-580m range from the targets, and save your jumps for a quick escape. Again, remember to salvo then hide. I would NOT suggest getting g a Vitz. They won't hold use very long and aren't terribly popular outside of base leagues. I retired mine long before I retired the Patton (and I still see the occasional Patton in mid silver. Never any Vitzs though).

Here's what I would do.
Slot #1: RDB Griff is fine (Pin/Tulus). Slot #2: Make Leo all Pinata/Thunder. Slot #3: Get another Griff, put your Mag on it and get 2 Tarans and another Magnum. If you don't have the WSPs right away, use Punishers. (Or Molots. Or whatever you have. Don't waste upgrade time there.) Slot #4: That's where you have some options. Pinata Patton or Thunder Taran Boa (as mentioned here) are two good low-cost options, but I'd recommend going to either another heavy robot or a designated beacon capper. - For beacon capper, Stalker or Gareth are really the only good option that will stay in the lineup for some time, but neither can be had for silver. If you plan to spend a bit gold on the game (which you should if you like it) you could pay Pixo 5 bucks and get the gepard/gold package, and use that Pinata Gepard, with the knowledge that the Gepard is only a temporary solution. (But it comes free if you buy the gold anyway, and I used it for a long time when I started out.) You could also keep the Cossack and put some decent weapon on it (Taran).
- You could get another Pinata Thunder Leo as knife fighter or a Nashorn Molot or Nashorn Pin Natasha as long range option.
- You could also get another RDB Griff if you like it.
- I guess I would probably go for a 3rd Griffin, aiming for a DB setup down the road (Pinatas/Orkans). Pinatas can be bought right away, for the Orkans you could always use Punishers as placeholders, or maybe Tulumbas.
And of course save your gold and get that 5th slot as soon as possible. That's why none of my immediate recommendations include anything that costs gold Once you have the 5th slot, 2 Orkans are the highest priority. Then we can talk about a Galahad (or, depending on personal preference, Aphids or more Orkans).

Good general advice is to go ahead and get those tarans and another mag that you talked about; plenty of options with those but putting them all on a Griff works nicely. I wouldn't bother with a Rhino, certainly not at this stage. Stalkers aren't everyone's cup of tea but can be fun and effective - but only get that after the weapons. The earlier suggestion of a Boa is a good one; taran/thunder works a treat. I miss mine The Cossack CAN still be used - I was using mine very effectively in old silver tier with a taran or orkan. Patton is versatile. If you like the molots, put 4 on there or, alternatively, with 4 x pinata's it makes a nice little DB starter pack. Later you can upgraded it to aphid's. Never really used my Leo - always found other options like the Boa better suited to the task - so can't help with that one, sorry!

Here's my 2 cents. Remove the taran on the Cossack and the boa. mount all those along with the mag to a griffin. For the extra light slot either a punisher or a piñata will work until you can get another mag.
Convert the Leo to all piñata and thunder.
the RDB is fine
The Cossack is tricky. If you don't have any other weapon to mount on it the punishers Mk2 are fine or go full on capper with an ECU.
Play style: start with the capper and cap as many beacons as you can until you die. Switch out with the required bot as needed.

At most, you'll grab three before you get put down, but really, it'll be more likely 1-2. If you wait until later on, However, everyone is in heavies, so you get speed on your side. A side beacon late in the game is worth more than early on, because you're probably the only person running for it. I've won several games on Yama by doing an 8th min beacon run while everyone else fights for center.

It seems you are not doing enough damage on your heavies. I recommend aggressive on the capping then play cautiously on the Heavies to maximize your damage. The most I usually get when we lose is a -15.

Yeah but the OP said he was thinking of buying 2 tarans... which made me think he could afford at least 1 ... without knowing his "budget" in Au & WSP it is difficult to know I will get enough WSP for a Taran by tomorrow. Since I have used my WSP to buy only magnum, I'll still have a lot of checkpoint rewards to pile up. Gold, well, 500~ since I bought a Gekko for some god-forsaken reason.. ---------------------------- Wow lotsa good advice here. Will get crackin' on it asap. Good thing I have like 10.5 Mil Ag saved.

Gecko ... Yeah did that too OK so you are light on resources... So my thunder taran boa suggestion still stands... I used Boas & loved them ... Cracking Ag med that thinks it's a heavy...lots of HP ...taran is a belter that you will use all the way through...unless it gets nerfed or superceded by a better wep...but it couldn't be considered a waste of wsp

So...any advice on how much should I level the bots and weps? Weapons first with bots should be 1 to 2 level behind. Thunders, piñatas, magnums, Tarans, Orkans and Tridents are all safe bets to invest all the way up to 12.
Zeus, aphids, hydras, trebs, Tulus, Pins and Gekkos are a matter of taste and is up to you if you want to invest in these.
The rest are generally not worth investing in beyond a few levels.

The old logic behind keeping weapons +2 over bit level is gone with the new MM system. Upgrade as you can, there's no penalty. I'd focus on upping stuff that will have a long life (Tarans, Mags, Orks, etc) rather than stuff that will fade away in upper levels (Spirals, etc). Caveat: you can probably take anything up to level 8 or so, as long as it's useful at the time. After 8, costs grow incredibly fast, so you'll want to really be sure.

You mentioned you are short on gold and WSP. Save all your gold for your 5th slot. Resist all your urges to spend gold until after you got that slot.
So using what you have, I ran a Cossack with tulumbas for a long time as my beacon capper. The punisher/ molot requires you to aim and shoot forever to do any damage at all, and everything else costs gold or wsp. The tulumbus lets you take your shot and run away. I replaced my Cossack with a stalker as soon as I could for the same role.
There's good advice about the Leo above. The Leo is pretty versatile. Thunder/punishers are a decent use. Use your magnum on it, too. It's slow but hearty.
Your Patton is in bad shape, as you probably understand by now. The gekko is an acquired taste, best used in pairs or triples along with a heavy long range weapon. The noricum is a waste of space. With 4 light slots, pick 4 of the same weapon. Don't mix them. With 10 million silver, you might be better served by upgrading the Patton with another griffin. Put 4 punishers on it and watch your damage skyrocket you into gold league.

Cannot recommend a Rhino I also recommend 2 Orkans and a Galahad before the 5th slot. Have fun playing now, and avoid the grind and don't listen to these "5th slot" guys.

Are we gonna argue about the 5th slot? Really? You cannot make a mistake by saving up 5000 gold for that 5th slot. You CAN make a mistake by a gekko you'll hardly ever use or a Galahad that gets blown to bits every 30 seconds into a battle by everybody's tridents and what not, and run out of bots before the matches are over. Do it now and you'll never need to do it again, unless we get a 6th slot someday. ?

Wow, so many advices already....kewl.
my 2 cents: 1. I don't like Cossack personally, so I'd suggest change it with a Stalker with 2 magnums or Gareth with Taran/magnum (both suited for beacon capping)
2. Drop the noricum. Noricums are useless. Always remember that. Drop the Gekko. Replace both with Molot until you get better bots/weapons
3. Leo, go fully thunder/pinata. Don't mix with magnum. Other common Leo set ups are thunder/3x mags or Trident/3x crvs
Work on replacing your Patton with something better. You might want to go for Galahad later (either orkan/piñata or taran/magnum set up) Great bot.
Forget rhino for now. Maybe later. Rhino is not easy to use.
Not sure why you want 2x tarans and 1 magnum....for a pdb griff? Can check it it out, not too bad.
Get 5th slot. As far as weapon mix is concerned, the general rule of thumb is to have the similar type and range weapons on the same bot.

Cos I do agree that it might help with earning gold faster, but it depends on your skill with it and also the tier you are in. You might even wanna buy a Gepard. LOL While I agree you MUST have fun, if u wanna play this game long term, then keeping gold aside for the 5th slot will be important eventually

So uh after combining everyone's suggests, here is my hangar now. I'll replace the Cossack after I upgrade the weps on the heavies. Probably get another Griff and make it PDB Griff. So, what further changes need to be made? How is it now? That said, I heard there is some new gun coming in, dubbed Protolot for now? And that the firing rate on Punishers and Molots are getting buffed? Any ETA on those?
