I guess I've been playing a little over three years. Lancelot is my favorite robot and I did well with my spydra Griffin, but the game is now so ridiculous and expensive that I refuse to play to it's rules. I worked my way back into championship league with 4 ancilots and my spydra, but after losing to p2w players I refuse to pay anymore to keep up.
Walking away for good this time. It's not fun playing anymore. Ares are everywhere and every opponent has pilots and the latest p2w addition to keep up. No way should medium and small bots be so dominant and dice through my ancilots, but they do. I don't want an Ares or any of the new bots. There are too many bots imo and they should have buffed the old ones heavily. Lancelots should've gotten a built in ancile a long time ago.
The game is a joke now. Stupid dragon bots with stealth and flamethrowers, Ares with it's shield, and the boost from having a pilot... The #1 ranked person in the world has 4 different hangers, MK2 bots and weapons along with maxed out pilots. It's ridiculous and sad. Maybe they make money off playing, but I refuse to try and keep up and waste my time. I remember when the game use to be fun and you could play with what you like. Those days are long gone. It's unhealthy to play this game and try to keep up. It's also no longer fun with them staking on modules and now pilots. To hell with this game.
Hasn't been decent for almost two years now. They reduced our earnings for silver and added more p2w features (modules, pilots) and stupid robots that the gameplay doesn't make any more sense. Medium robots shouldn't dominate heavy robots plain and simple. A good small man would never beat a good big man which is why the term pound 4 pound was created. I haven't seen a dominant heavy bot since the Inquisitor which debut two years ago I believe. It's not even worth tanking and a waste of time playing now even if I get dropped to master league again it won't be fun wasting my time losing.
I realize I am wasting my time because it's no longer fun for me. I have to stop playing now. I wish you all the best and hope that you aren't wasting money just to have fun or keep up. It's a waste of money and effort. Shouldn't have to keep shelling out money for the game to be fun. Hopefully players our there are strong enough like me to stop playing and at least stop spending money to have a good time playing. It's been fun, but the game is way to expensive and has been for some time. There must be 40 robots now. Ridiculous.
That's the end of my rant I've been all over the place, but I think I said it all. I truly hope the rest of you are also string enough to walk away and at least stop paying in order to have fun or keep up. Time for us veterans to exhibit self control and walk away. To hell with this game. Pixonic doesn't go get a ?fluffernutter? about it's fan base and it's a shame. I can't wait until this trend changes or people start walking away like me.
Once again, I will stop playing and will post here when I have to. Time to exhibit self control. I haven't spend money on the game all year, but spent maybe $200-300 from 2016-2018. Not another dime the game is unhealthy and the modules, pilots, Ares, and dragon robots are a joke. Enjoy your Ares and stealth dragon bot with flamethrower it's a damn joke imo. I wish everyone well and hope you end the frustration with some self control and refusal to pay.
That's the end of my rant. All the best.

Sad seeing anyone who plays without meta chasing leave.
However not having fun is no fun.....when that time comes for me, I’ll be out, too.
Best wishes in whatever you get going on next!

I feel your frustrations and the only reason I still play is that hopefully 2 out of 5 battles might actually be fun and competitive. Domination matches that finish within 3 minutes or with the opposing team standing in your spawn area are just the kind of BS we have been putting up with for a very long time with the match maker system Pixonic dishes out.
I played one game earlier and came up against some Griffins a Fujin and a Gareth and I even felt like quitting that match because it was not fun beating up on those guys. Little did I know, I would lose the next 7 games in a row after that. Came up against Mk2 opponent, after opponent and felt the same frustrations on the other side. Down to mid 20s winning % now.

I gave it up for like a day. Haven't played today yet, but I will lol.
Still upset that the stupid dragon bot with flamethrower and stealth and Ares are dominating the field with their built in mods. I refuse to get one for myself I like what I like, but medium robots shouldn't be that dominate over all bots. Heavy bots should be harder to kill and old bots need to be updated. I refuse to give in and get the latest new bot. Not trying to insult anyone though, to each their own.
I'll continue to stay in championship league with 4 Lancelots and my spydra. Might even run my 5th Lancelot now (if I haven't sold it because I'm not sure). I'll take pride in being competitive with my old bots like somebody mentioned in this thread. If I ever get a new bot it will be similar to the Lancelot because I love the ancile and shield more than anything. But, the Ares is ugly and no new bots appeal to me aside from the Raven.
Hopefully pixonic updates the old bots. Reintroduce the Lancelot and give it a built in ancile (built in ancile should be an add on not hardpoint), but I wish the pilots didn't exist. They look cheesy and it's another form of p2w.
I imagine the best players in the world live in huge homes in the Middle East and are royals. Gotta be some super rich non Americans am I right? Does anybody know any legends? Do they get paid for it or are they just super rich? I'd like to know.. All the best. See you guys on the battlefield.

I’ve been around about the same amount of time and F2P - the pain is real at times in War Robots. Pix ain’t gonna change, so find fun where you can. This thread caught my eye as a possible War Robots alternative. Haven’t checked it out yet but might be worth a look war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/32006/full-metal-monsters-War Robots-dinos

A few personal rules I have set for myself to keep playing: 1) I refuse to climb to champion because I clearly don't have the gear to have fun. I don't tank or manipulate the game, I just play casually so as not to be pushed to champ. I've been in Master ever since leagues was introduced. 2) I refuse to level up my bots past 9 or 10 & weapons past 10. 3) I refuse to play meta bots as I can't afford it. The last bot I got was a Bulwark many months ago. The other bots are a Lancelot, Inquisitor, Kumiho, & Bulgassari. I still face max meta champ players often being in Master but its nowhere as frustrating as being in champ without the proper gear.

I hear you. I had such a bad time playing in April I was going to give up for a month. Lasted a day and then the event started and I played more than ever. I am having some fun games. Don't have an Ares or Ao Jun and I do feel that limits me. A fellow clan member and I were both doing the same thing for months, pushing up to mid Maters III then dropping right back down again and having to win games to stay in Maters. Rinse and repeat. He got himself and Ares with is now lvl 9 and is in Masters II. Coincidence?

Play casually = soft tank, not hard core like Cossack tankers but still soft tank is tank. I’m not saying it’s bad, it’s completely understandable, a little tank to keep the balance is smart. Under this league point system, if you want to win you will be pushed to champion, it’s inevitable. Only if you have the intention to lose, then you can stay at where you are in the league. You purposely not leveling up the high damage weapons and bots and purposely choose to give up a losing match because deep down you know if you put your heart in every game, you will be in Champions League. 2 years ago, even 1 year ago tanking is a complete shame, but now things changed, some soft tanking like refuse dropping in match that clearly walked over by Ares train is actually common sense.

Have some predawn gear that's 7, 8 & 9 but the 9's are all old school lights and the 8's are mediums with the exception of a single Griffin. I can fight as hard as I want... I'm not getting to champs though I did get pushed up to E3 for a bit.

Sorry to see you go, but if it ain't fun, it's not worth playing!
One thing you said strikes me though. You worked your butt off to get back into Champs. Why? Games are a lot more fun the further you are from Champs. No one is going to fault you for having maxed out legacy gear in the lower leagues. It's the nature of the game now. People like me (who has mediocre skills at best) can skirt the M1/Champions League border with L9/10 meta gear while good players with legacy gear can't compete. Before you walk away for good, maybe let the MM beat you back down to Expert/Masters 3 and then stay there. My best games have come when the MM has beaten me back down to mid M1, and then I'll have a string of awesome game against people that may be lower league than me, but have similar gear. Then, the closer I get back to Champs, then the more Mk2 stuff I see.
For me, it's not just about the bots. Yes, Ao Jun and Ares are horribly OP and broken, but you know what? If I encounter them at similar gear levels to my stuff, they're not that bad. It's when I get rooted and killed in a half second without being able to do anything that really gets my goat.
If you were willing to try a bit more, I would say change out your Ancilot hangar, go with smaller, faster bots and focus on Domination matches. Use weapons and tactics that can counter the new meta. Vortex remains my fave and I'm seriously considering grinding out more. Pulsar is also another great counter and 4 of them on a Spectre is just as OP as the Ares. Heck, even 4 Ballistae on the Spectre is freaking powerful and useful against the new stuff.
Also, join a good clan (hint hint we are recruiting), and squad more often. Side note: squadding with champ level folks + Beacon Rush = facing more death squads so be careful of that).
There's still some fun to be had in this game, otherwise me and many folks here would have left long ago. You just need to change your perspective and goals.

I'm on my mobile and can't quote all of you (probably will in a few hours when I'm on my laptop), but many wonderful responses over the past 24 hours. I was being emotional and yeah, I literally took a day away from playing and have been playing ever since lol.
Before my op I switched over from domination to TDM. I was doing well, but started getting creamed the higher up I went. Now maybe 9/10 games I play are domination and the rest TDM. Beacon rush is fun, but I have 4 Lancelots and that's not going to change. I love that bot and 4 in a hanger is too slow for BR. I was running 5 Lancelots, but fir the past six months I've been dropping my spydra first (mk2 hydras and level 12 spirals) to frustrate and discourage the dragon bots, Spectre, Inquisitor, stalker 2.0 with 3 small hardpoints (forgot what it's called) and the damn Ares. Modules will help my gameplay. Just haven't spend any money for a while and if I did it would be for gold.
To each their own, but I will never tank or lightly tank. I'd rather get my 「bum-bum」 whooped and lose it when a teammate is tanking. Yesterday I caught a teammate tanking by firing his weapon at the spawn point. But, we did so well as a team we ended up winning. I don't have it in me to tank, but if it's inevitable that we lose and there is over 5 mins left in the match I will commit suicide and get myself destroyed faster. I didn't want to say this because I don't want to encourage this gameplay or anymore tanking.
It sucks when you take the game seriously and your teammate haven't even spawned to help and are tanking. But, it is what it is. I find running my spydra and chipping away at the dragon and stealth bots from afar really throws off their gameplay and gives my team a chance against the reds. That's the aspect of gameplay I enjoy the most. Glad the homing missiles are still great options for gameplay.

When I play I put in all the effort in all my matches and try to win every match even against whales & when I know I won't win By casual I meant I play 1-4 games a week now instead of 1-4 games a day. I was down to 1-4 games a month before pilots were introduced. Surprisingly pilots actually make me want to play more now. I disagree about your point about the current system, you can win every game but if you play as little as me you won't be pushed higher.

â?¦ It's unhealthy to play this game â?¦
You're so on point with everything you wrote. But I did want to respond to the portion I quoted from you above... .
I think that's why I quit over a year ago. That game got "unhealthy" for me too. I was doing pretty well and then started falling farther and farther behind other players. It got unhealthy for me when I started feeling more and more ?whiskey tango foxtrot? … just happened?! after more and more battles. Then I realized... I was starting to get pissed... over a game!! lol SMH PIX's philosophy is pretty f'ed up but the reality is that it's a business and clearly there's someone … actually lots of someones … out there paying to play. Shrug!
Thoughts dictate emotions. My thoughts become ?whiskey tango foxtrot??! I started getting pissed. I needed a break! Dunno how long I'll keep playing this time, especially since I see things have only gotten worse. I mean... who the hell pays $100 for anything on this game? That's the kind of money I'd spend on a game console or a game for a game console! lol Shrug!
Good luck... hope you find a game that makes you feel like you've just had some fun!

I gave it up for like a day. Haven't played today yet, but I will lol. Damn... I should have read the whole thread before responding! Bah... you're already back! lol
There are some moments when the game is still fun. When battles are close … when it's a not a blowout … for me, that's it's still fun.

The game is still fun for me once in a while, I still get million plus scores often, still land on top or near it on my team. I wish I could do better but my hanger is falling and falling behind from the whales --- still mainly a 10 to 12 level one with level 23 pilots and mostly fully upgraded free modules.
Everyone has a threshold where the game will reach and he or she will quit. That threshold differs from people to people. Others have hit their threshold already, others have yet to happen.
But this game is doing its hardest to discover everyone's threshold.

I'd rather get my ?bum-bum? whooped and lose it when a teammate is tanking. Knowing how broken the game has become, I have shifted my mentality from "winning is fun" to "destroying robots is fun". When the definition of fun has changed, getting roasted by OP opponents doesnt matter much, just start a new game. There are some games after playing for about a minute, I realise that the opponents are similarly matched to mine. This is where i stay longer and try to play for the win.

Doesn't that put you in the tanker's category by leaving early? That happened to me because I let my 3 year old daughter play, battery died on my phone, etc. When I'm getting dominated by an OP team I'll just try to go through all five of my bots as quickly as possible so I don't get matched with the same players (red and blue) lol.

â?¦ It's unhealthy to play this game â?¦
Shrug!

Good luck... hope you find a game that makes you feel like you've just had some fun! Well said. I haven't played console in years and still have a PS3. No ps4 or the latest Xbox. I uploadd UFC fights, boxing matches, car stuff, and videos for my kid onto the PS3.

If you are getting rolled by a squad, don't worry about leaving. Just don't drop another bot. Stay in the match and put the game down for a few seconds. Those matches don't last long, you won't be penalized for it, and you are off to the next match.
