Smurf it! No hassle, no frustrations and no $$ necessary. You can run dirt cheap gear and still be competitive if not OP using the skills and experience that you have gained. When all else fails Smurf it and Smurf them!
When you feel the need to get in the mix again, you still have your higher level account.

Before you give it up altogether, which is where I’m close to myself. Try changing the way you play.
1. Always leave game against death squads before you even drop a bot. 2. Rearm all your bots, no more brawlers, use 500-600 meter weapons. 3. Stop sacrificing your bots for center beacon. 4. Play for yourself, not your squad. 9/10 times they c ertainly aren’t playing for you. 5. Focus on damage only. Don’t worry about kills or beacons anymore. 6. Never squad with your clan unless your clan has fully maxed hangars, you will definately end up facing a death squad. 7. Refer, to step one, it’s the most important thing you can do.
Doing this, you will naturally drop to a level that is suitable. After just a couple days I dropped from 5050 to 4950 and I’m holding steady there without having tanked. Keeps me out of champ and I see much fewer death squads. When leaving game against death squads make sure you leave game before losing bots/weapons or you will end up with negative silver. Ideally you drop before countdown is over. So wait to drop until you see the enemy’s team.
Pixonic broke their game. There is no doubt about this. Stop playing it the way they intended. Earn some silver, level some pilots, wait out the storm for them to fix the game before it’s too far gone.
The more people we have leaving against death squads, the more it will affect the whales game too. Leave them with an empty playing field. Spread the word, talk to your clan and friends.
Good luck bud, I hope you choose to stick around.

I know that a lot of folks on the forums want everything for free but thatâs just not how it works. Obviously not. But it's questionable to sell 100m virtual silver for 100 real moneys, when the 100m virtual silver get you basically nowhere. Given the now not so new economy, the 100m silver is nothing, as we're talking billions for a decent end game hangar. Virtual "robots" for 100 real moneys are also questionable. I'd say a lot of players would be fine with the pricing, if the best items in the game were about 20 for a bot and 5 to 10 for a weapon. The elitist approach from Pixonic is 「dookie」 business: Imagine Toyota would sell their cars for 300.000. Would they be the large and successful car manufacturer they are? Would PUBG Mobile, Apex Legends and Fortnite make that kind of dough they do, if their items were priced as insanely, as the items in War Robots are? I wonder, why you're defending their business model. Remember, their business isn't to make games or provide players with enjoyable gameplay. The very business of Pixonic is to make revenue and hand over nice reports to mail.ru and the last update to the game made that abundantly clear.

Do not try to keep up with the Jones as its a trap, do what you like but find a way to make it fun and win around half the time. This game places you in very hard spots trying to get you to spend, just hang tough and you will break through to the winning side for a while. Up and down is the name of the game. To the OP good luck whatever you decide.

Reduced to game that last 5 mins. Doing well then all of a sudden I'm the last bot left on blues with 2 boys still left unused. I don't even bother dropping the 4th bot because those two bot will cost me more in repairs then the silver they they make. Basically the standard of play and skill are gone “...all of a sudden I'm the last bot left on blues with 2 boys still left unused. I don't even bother dropping the 4th bot because those two bot will cost me more in repairs then the silver they they make.” This has been my exact experience as well during the past week or so.

The very business of Pixonic is to make revenue and hand over nice reports to mail.ru and the last update to the game made that abundantly clear. Zzzzz.... The constant whining over Pixonic’s profits is tiresome. The price is the price - if you can’t pay it, then play F2P or minnow what you can afford. Comparing it to Toyota is silly - the two have nothing in common. It would be great if the best in the game cost less but, newsflash - the market supports higher prices than what you are willing to pay. I would like to see Maserati price their cars closer to Chevrolet but that ain’t happening so there’s a Jeep in my driveway instead. I want to buy a yacht and live on the water; I ain’t got the money so I live on the land and get out on the water as part of a tour. Over the course of the last year, I’ve found ways to play the game within my gaming budget. Pixonic has been running firesales and events that have enabled me to get even further ahead with minimal $$$ invested. They made 50 bucks off me in the last month on this pilots update and in exchange I got exactly what I wanted and just what was needed to keep me competitive and having fun. I suppose I could have gone to see a movie, eaten out, or bought a single video game to play for a weekend instead. I chose to put that money toward a game I play a couple hours a day for a year and will likely continue to play for the next several years. Seems pretty affordable to me.

I’m actually enjoying the pilots. I like customizable content. I just think they should get rid of mods and call it a day. Over the last 4 years I’ve been through a lot. This is nothing. Happy hunting

I just faced someone with a hangar of maxed Ao Juns and lvl 30 legendary pilots. It's been, what? Two or three days or so since the pilots dropped? Why should I compete with people laying out that much money for the privilege of melting me? And that's not even getting into how I can't properly look up to target flying robots overhead. Or quickly lock on to robots to fire, because the targeting system still cycles through all enemies, as opposed to the one I have centered in my crosshairs. Or how I'll be firing at someone on Dreadnaught, only to suddenly have my view swing downward when they activate stealth. I used to enjoy this game, but Pixonic keep adding new overkill bots and weapons without solving basic playability issues, and now up in Champion league, more often than not I can't even move or shoot before I'm killed within seconds. So, exactly how much play must I do to catch up with the game? The pilots being level 30 could actually be F2P, believe it or not. Every pilot on the hangar receives the XP earned in a match. Aside from the Au used to buy them, you can actually get them leveled up fairly quickly if you put in the hours. Of course, 5 Ao Juns is probably not F2P.... Assuming you were performing well enough before the update, and you play several hours every day, you should be able to level up your pilots to L30 in under a week. Play more, they’ll level up faster, of course. You’ll want all of your bots to have their pilots before you start, obviously. You can also spend a little more on the pilots and get some that are already leveled up. Naturally, this all depends on where you were playing before as well; it does not cost very much to get a solid leg up with pilots, so you may drop a little along the way vs those willing to spend a small amount (as one would expect). You are forgetting the gold it costs to level pilots up, plus the gold it costs to pick the right skills.

The ones you get are usually helpful. Second, I bought 5 pilots - including a legendary - and leveled them all up to L31 on Au alone for under 20K. We did the same on my son’s game, getting him all corporals, for under 4K Au. You can level up by simply playing - the first 9 or so levels go fast. So...combine Au and play time with a little Au...you can easily break into Sergeant quickly. Don’t want to spend the time, spend a little money - this is probably the least expensive monetization scheme Pix has ever come up with. TBH, I suggest folks get in there and level up fast before Pix realizes some aspects of pilots are actually priced reasonable and within reach of the F2P/minnow crowd.

I didn't really want to admit this, but I agree with OP's sentiments. I played five matches today, each more frustrating than the last, until I realized that I wasn't enjoying it at all and that there's no reason I should be spending time to make myself unhappy. At one point, there were three Ares and three Ao Junks at the same time on the enemy team, and there wasn't any way I could realistically take on them with a 9/9 F2P hangar. This has been the norm for me since the update, and I don't feel excited about playing the game anymore.
I'm not ready to quit like OP, but I won't be playing any more ranked matches until Pix balances Last Stand, Ares and Ao Jun, which is at least several months from now, or maybe never at all. Until then, I'll just collect my free Ag and get Au with ads and only play Skirmish, which is still fun enough on its own to justify keeping the app.

Yep, I think Pixonic finally broke me. After a few days of pilots, I'm seeing Ao Juns that can melt me even faster. I close in for a kill on an Ares with my Strider, only to have Last Stand kick in as his weapons regenerate and he kills me anyway. I'm spending more and more time locked down, facing enemies that I can't even fire back at. I think I need to put this game away for a while, because... This is just making me angry now. May I humbly suggest another account...I have several... when one gets boring I just switch to maintenance and upgrade mode and play my 1bot or my mid-level or my gold bots...choices have definitely made things funner. A few weeks later upgrades are done and off we go... i play my smurf account a lot more than my main account nowadays. it is way more fun to be able to gets some health off of the reds. currently, my bots in my Champions League hangar are ineffective against the hordes of mk2 maxed out premium module loaded AuJunks and Areses. I wonder when this slaughter ends.

I've said this many times before, see you in a month op I quit back in April. Sold all my stuff and filled my hanger with cheap robots to make sure all my premium stuff was gone for good. Have not played since. I come here on occasion to see if anything has changed and to keep current. It has gotten worse. There is no reason for anyone to come back in a month. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but not in it's current state. I didn't mind spending a few bucks here and there to be competitive, but this is ridiculous. The last game I played was against a death squad. One of many I kept getting paired against towards the end of my run. Between lockdown, purple shields, and death squads, the game was no longer enjoyable for me. Now reading about pilots, more ridiculous bots, and the added cost. No thank you.

Good luck OP. If you have thoughts like you described than at minimum take a break. Than you can assess if it is worth coming back.
IMO Pilots just broke the game a bit more. For the time being it is exciting for many because of new features to muck around with but when the initial excitement fades the reality will set in.

Currently I’m using viper and punishers but the punishers are going to be replaced with pulsars. The second one is half done in workshop now. Then I have to level them. I found the inquisitor too slow to brawl in champ. Quantum Radar is everywhere and it’s very difficult to escape once your jump is used. Fighting with a little range has transformed its versatility. Much more usable on more maps.

Anyone who has not been saving and/or did not buy a few $10 Gold packs has no one to blame but themselves if they fall behind and drop but they can still recover in a reasonable amount of time if they are so inclined. There have been plenty of players come through the forums that said they hit Sergeant playing F2P and if you have even 5K saved in Gold you can get there in a day or two on all 5 pilots by buying a few higher level to start. The point is - it’s neither difficult nor expensive to remain competitive.

Pretty much every one of us have been loosing 1/2 our games for more than a year now. It is what it is. I do not have to win to have fun. Do you?
Unless you are a member of an "S" clan, your win rate will hover around 50%. This is a result of the community complaining about a "broken/unfair game". Seems we always get what we ask for and are then never happy that we got it.

If it wasn’t spent on speeding upgrades or boosters, everyone should have had enough saved to at least do an upgrade or two on 5 pilots. While I am hugely outspoken about pay to win, a lot of the disparity can be attributed to player choices. I disagree with the under a week theory. Not in the current economy’s upgrade times. When I started in the OEI had a few hundred million gold saved because of cheap upgrades and backlogged upgrade times. Other rewards have been nerfed since then too. By the time I started pushing things to 10 it went QUICKLY. It takes longer than a week to get a single bot and weapons to level 7/8. Now throw into that modules and pilots? No way. I’d say within two months of reaching level 30, a well guided new player could have a competitive expert hangar along with one leveled meta bot. And that is if they do everything perfectly. However, I’ve been working on a secret project, the results of which will be posted in time. I think your jaws will drop. Mine has and I’m not even half way through it yet.

They used to give that stuff away like water during events and there was nothing I could spend it on(had enough gold bots at the time). I saved that stuff for ages. Spent a chunk on that old card game thingy, but if you knew how to play, it didn't take much to win the Spectre.
BUT.....man those Avengers looked good, those premium modules looked good, speed upgrading the Loki and Fenrir looked good(Loki....what a waste) and now the pilots looked good. I am now close to gold broke. Oh well, so it goes. Now I am in the "saving" mode for the next event. Saving both gold and silver for whatever comes down the pipe next. I am hoping for gold on every chest spin.

I have to agree to the saving gold part. Gold has been useless for a very long time. I already said that F2P could do it in under a week spending little to nothing, or spend a little more to do it more quickly. *I* did NOT want to grind it out, so *I* used Gold that I had saved up to do it more quickly. I have to agree to the saving gold part. Gold has been useless for a very long time. However, I’ve been working on a secret project, the results of which will be posted in time. I think your jaws will drop. Mine has and I’m not even half way through it yet. 3 months for a new player to have an Expert League competitive hangar is not bad and sounds about right. That said, we’re not really talking about a new player here. If you take more than a week to get your pilots to Sergeant level - as an established player - then you’re just not playing very much. You can EASILY run a pilot up to Corporal in a couple hours. Earning the XP required to reach Sergeant is a little bit tougher, but not much - maybe 3-4 hours of play. The only issue will be Au. Promoting your 5 pilots to Corporal is 2500Au. That’s not a lot for most players. Sergeant is 5000Au; that might be a little tougher for fully F2P/never-spend types. Of course, you could buy $20 in Au and you’ll nearly have it - enough that gameplay will cover the difference. Given the 7500Au - either saved, purchased, or a combination of both - one could easily reach Sergeant in a single afternoon of playing, buying all L1 Pilots, and thereafter using Au only for promotions. Sergeant has 3 skills and that’s enough to provide a substantial boost to your game. Smart players who are not spend-averse will have been watching Au deals this last month and hitting the 2400ish Au for $9.99 sales. That means $30 and maybe 6 hours of gameplay to reach Sergeant. The actual reality —> this could be done in a single day of play with ease if you have the Au saved up. Players who did not prepare and are not spend averse can still knock this out quickly, but it will cost them a little bit more to do so because they have to buy the Au. Total F2P who have no Gold saved up...well, they should already have realistic expectations about their progress in the game. Most of the players here and in the game that I‘ve talked to, have either stocked up on Au or had it saved up already. I expect to see most players with 5 Pilots at Sergeant rank (or higher) by this weekend. Now, Lieutenant, on the other hand...that I do not expect to see widely for another month or two. We’re talking 7500Au for just the promotion and leveling up to get there actually takes about a solid day or two per level. More active players can get there fairly quickly - maybe a bit over a week - then have to deal with the Au crunch. I think this will be the biggest issue though and it’s why I am disappointed with the cost to promote. Right now, I am working on leveling up to Captain. It took me 2 days of playing to go from L31-L32 (I played maybe 90m each day - not much). The Au cost will be 10K and right now, I only have 419. That will slow me down a little bit but I will have them all fully leveled up in just a couple weeks’ time through my regular daily play. SO...long made short.... 1 day of active play to Sergeant, buying and using Au only to buy pilots and promote them, minnow spend or F2P. A few days to a week of active play to reach Lieutenant, buying and using Au only for promotion, minnow spend or long term F2P saver. 1-2 weeks more of active play to reach Captain, buying and using Au only for promotion, minnow spend.

Lose every so often? If I win half my games that means I am also losing half my games. Sounds like a little more than "Every so often". Spending all this time and money to climb the ladder just to be constantly slaughtered by death squads and whales is not fun. You are right, not for me. I commend you for making it to the Champion League with bots at level 9. Goor job. Glad you are having fun. After playing against him, I would say he is better than many in Champions League, even with lvl8 gear. He makes the most out of his gear.
Sounds like he is a good player. For me my average ran from anywhere between the high 60's to low 30's. I eventually threw in the towel when I started to spend extended amounts of time in the low 30's getting hammered by death squads, whales, or being frustrated by my teammates shooting each other, pushing me into the line of fire so they could shoot, running into walls, hiding for the duration of the match, or dropping into a match with long range bots and weapons and camping during capture the beacon. Together it was enough to push me over the edge. So one day I deleted everything. Not that big a deal. It's a game, but I do enjoy reading the forums.

... or dropping into a match with long range bots and weapons and camping during capture the beacon. ... This is the only thing that really bothers me. Pix, as expected, they are going to jizz all over their customer base. Playing range in BR on the first drop...one bot, ok, no bigie, 2 bots doing this. Don't like. 3 or more when I look around....poof, I'm gone. I can only play an hour or so per day anymore, so I pick and choose which blues I play with. I don't care if they are Masters or Champions League, or what clan they are in. I care about their tactics. Reds on the other hand, bring it on, show me what ya got...
