Yep, I think Pixonic finally broke me. After a few days of pilots, I'm seeing Ao Juns that can melt me even faster. I close in for a kill on an Ares with my Strider, only to have Last Stand kick in as his weapons regenerate and he kills me anyway. I'm spending more and more time locked down, facing enemies that I can't even fire back at.
I think I need to put this game away for a while, because... This is just making me angry now.

May I humbly suggest another account...I have several... when one gets boring I just switch to maintenance and upgrade mode and play my 1bot or my mid-level or my gold bots...choices have definitely made things funner. A few weeks later upgrades are done and off we go...

Give yourself some time to get your pilots, level them up, and catch up.

And that's not even getting into how I can't properly look up to target flying robots overhead. Or quickly lock on to robots to fire, because the targeting system still cycles through all enemies, as opposed to the one I have centered in my crosshairs. Or how I'll be firing at someone on Dreadnaught, only to suddenly have my view swing downward when they activate stealth. I used to enjoy this game, but Pixonic keep adding new overkill bots and weapons without solving basic playability issues, and now up in Champion league, more often than not I can't even move or shoot before I'm killed within seconds. So, exactly how much play must I do to catch up with the game?

I agree with the sentiment about opening another account. If you are after a fair game you are not going to get it with the way things are now. Forget about leagues and progression. Forget about upgrade costs and times. Get off the Pix hamster wheel If you do open another account just play Skirmish and NOTHING else. This allows you to play Thursday to Sunday, ensures you are setting aside some quality time for RL and have a degree of separation from the game. It also gets you using some of the stuff you can't otherwise get for whatever reason and, additionally, provides more even games (certainly better than league madness ). Another benefit is that it can feel like a cathartic middle finger to Pix

Currently the game reminds me on the specter area. Only very few matches left are fun to play. Mostly it's just getting over it. Some bots/features take away every aspect of gameplay
Ares Ao Jun Lockdown Last Stand
These elements basically make you wait and watch and kill the interaction. My situation is I come in first or second when we loose so my champ status and crate is secure but the fun is fading.
I am waiting it out. But if this goes on too long players will quit in masses. War Robots could recover from specter area. They might now as well though there are many game elements broken this time.

I'm getting tired of the game recently. Playtime is down and it makes me mad too much. The purple shields, the squads... I am particularly sick of the matchmaking and the way Pixonic pushed people far too fast and far from ready into the Masters and Champ league. It starts to hit you when you see people scoring only about half to a third of what you do, especially when you only have Level 9 to 12 weapons and bots, no Mk2 stuff.

So, exactly how much play must I do to catch up with the game? The pilots being level 30 could actually be F2P, believe it or not. Every pilot on the hangar receives the XP earned in a match. Aside from the Au used to buy them, you can actually get them leveled up fairly quickly if you put in the hours. Of course, 5 Ao Juns is probably not F2P.... Assuming you were performing well enough before the update, and you play several hours every day, you should be able to level up your pilots to L30 in under a week. Play more, they’ll level up faster, of course. You’ll want all of your bots to have their pilots before you start, obviously. You can also spend a little more on the pilots and get some that are already leveled up. Naturally, this all depends on where you were playing before as well; it does not cost very much to get a solid leg up with pilots, so you may drop a little along the way vs those willing to spend a small amount (as one would expect).

I am pretty close as well. Half my games are undefeatable bots. Miraculously if you somehow manage to kill one, another appears. You can strategize facing one god bot, but having 2 or 3 ambush you from all directions is just not fun gameplay

To play a game several hours a day is ridiculous. There is a scientific and medical reason why China has a regulation limiting players to 3 hours a day --- namely because of dead people in the internet game cafes --- and I use that as a standard. There is only this much you can play before the effects bite into your real life, both into the psychological and the physical.
Its better to be successful more in real life, and then use that to pay for your game life.

Another one bites the dust, Join the non p2w side of gaming, we have cookies.
It's good you know your limits, right now I feel spoiled by alot of the games on steam now that I finally have something to run them properly, mobile gaming is setting yourself up for disappointment.

I can feel ya. Pix has finally managed to break the game. As someone suggested before you can try a 2nd account. Or you can try different/new games(This is what I am doing). Not saying that these will change War Robots or you will start liking it again. But it will make you less angry about War Robots and may help you to shift to other games(if you want to shift).

"Walking War Robots" - Right in the feels, when I'm listening to the old menu theme:
See you around, Pilots.

I just log on and hope for a few decent games and wait for the inevitable nerf to come to Ares and Ao Jun. I was playing for a little while yesterday and I thought that my Ipad was getting quite hot. Turned out it was just an Ao Jun with the built in weapon boost pilot enabled. Melted my Bulwark in 3 seconds and just about melted the case off the Ipad as well.

Pilots are stupid. There's nothing else to say. And it's not because they are OP (infact the most OP bots in the game don't have particularly good skills) but because they are way too complicated.
I see bots that just don't die, bots that are way too fast for what they are, bots that instantly recharge their abilities and so on, and you have absolutely no way to know what you are going to face. Planning and strategy have no place in the game anymore: it's just pure luck, chance and money. Moreover, the game is sooooo incredibly laggy after the update, and I think there are A LOT of bugs with pilots too. I just see too many strange things on the battlefield.
War Robots is not only a P2W game, it's also becoming a BAD game. Pilots are the example of how bad the recent game design choices are.

Welcome to the club. I used to love this game but hardly play these days due to a combination of burn-out and always being overmatched. It's no fun when my bots stand no chance against some of these max opponents I'm always forced to play against.

It thinks it’s Borderlands without the snazzy humor. It takes itself too seriously that it’s cringy.

Well there is new game made by the same team that make War Robots before PIX buy it. Battle of Titans have better graphic ,phisic ,upgrade system etc. But strangly after two yeras from release game is every badly optimized and not much new stuff is added. Maybe PIX plan to suck from US AS much AS they can in War Robots and after they will switch to BoT where slow process will begin again.

Reduced to games that last 5 mins. Doing well then all of a sudden I'm the last bot left on blues with 2 bots still left unused. I don't even bother dropping the 4th bot because those two bots will cost me more in repairs then the silver they may make.
Basically any high standard of play and skill are gone

I’ve seen players w 3 legendary pilots lvl 52, 70, 70 and full mega meta mk2, Last Stand on everything, etc. meh, the pilots don’t really add anything to that vs. me, So what, they kill me in 1m30s instead of 2m. It’s not every match (for me anyway) and I’m still hanging 50% +/- and fun games last longer.

This is why you should stay the hell away from bot and weapons levels that will GET YOU TO CHAMP.
Think about it. 9/9 gear will get you to champ. People have done it with less.
But that's the basement of a league where Mk2 = level 14, then boosts, then modules, the pilots. What's the effective level here at the end? 19? 20? That you're trying to fight with level 9 stuff?
My stuff is basically between L6-8. And nothing component is above 6. I play my best hangars, play hard, and am in D1 drifting up towards E3, slowly. I use no boosts, no modules, no pilots, and it makes NO DIFFERENCE. That's because I'm not up against the limit. The people who jump into pilots at my bot levels will rapidly go past me. Those with worse gear will bubble up to me. And I don't spend a damn Au or Ag at all.

What has kept you from building Ares or Ao Jun of your own? This game is like anything else in life, adapt or get left behind. I've actually learned to enjoy playing Ares. Timing it just right and toasting another Ares is great.

I saved up 20K in Au specifically for this update. Bought a few small deals, played a ton, spun chests like a mad man.... That was enough for me to buy the one legendary I wanted (Alika), some regular Pilots, and level everything to L31. I did not buy ANY L1 Pilots (other than legendary) - they were L10 initially then I leveled them and got better offers with higher levels and ranks. This allowed me to optimize my Au and get them all to L31 quickly. They’re all L32 now because they all take on XP at the same time. All of their skills are those assigned randomly. The youngling is down in Expert - we bought zero Au for him, he spent about 4K in Au, and he is running Pilots with 2 skills and seeing much the same there as I do in Masters (adjusted appropriately).
In matches, I am far from godlike, although I can now hold my own against the L10-L12 gear my opponents have and had before. I’m not walking away with significantly more Ag or points, although my average has come up a little bit. I’m also seeing little to no difference in the stats of other players at end game - still the same kind of rewards spreads. This is up in Masters.
The way I see it, if you want to run with the big dogs, then you have to do like they do in order to keep up. That means spending some Au and playing several hours each day. If you don’t want to do that, then you stay on the porch, maybe run around inside the fence a bit. I did not spend hundreds or thousands on Pilots - I started stocking up on Au a month ago when it was clear this was coming. I bought ONE $50 Au deal so I could get a legendary and boost through the initial leveling up because I did not want to grind it out but wanted to remain competitive.
I know that a lot of folks on the forums want everything for free but that’s just not how it works. As monetized content goes, this one is not bad so long as you’re willing to play in the mid to upper leagues rather than at the top of the game. That’s where most of us are though - mid to upper leagues - so you’ll be in good company.
