Device: HTC One M9 Android 6.0
Due to the high demand the game places on devices I'm sure many of you have experienced issues with lag and choppiness while playing War Robots. If any of you have tried to run a screen recording app simultaneously you likely experienced even more slow down.
This can be extremely frustrating as it makes aiming difficult to the point of giving up and impossibility. Not to mention the overheating and battery usage.
Thankfully, for Android users, it may not necessarily be caused by the lack of processing power your device has to offer. Instead, it may be a combination of background processes and settings that you may not even know are available.
#1
I always would go into my devices app manager and disable apps which came installed to the device by default. Most of these never get used by myself, yet constantly run in the background. I disable these altogether, all the time. This is a good idea to do anytime you get a new device as there is no need for the power and memory usage.
#2
The first step, while likely helping, isn't necessarily that noticeable. To take it a bit further, I go through and also temporarily disable apps which use the most memory or power usage. Usually these are apps such as Facebook, Snapchat, Messagers, etc. Force stopping these apps only causes them to reboot. Disable them temporarily in order to be sure they are not drawing even a fraction of power or performance.
#3
Go into the battery options and disable battery optimization for War Robots and whatever screen recording app you may use.
#4
This is the BIG one! This is what really made the game butter smooth for myself, even while recording game play.
You'll need to go into your Settings and find the Build number section.
For my HTC One M9 this was under Settings>About>Software Info>More>Build Number
Once you find this tap it repeatedly until it enables Developer Mode.
Back at the main Settings screen there should be a new tab called Developer Options or similar.
In the developer options I turned on High Performance Mode to maximize CPU performance.
This may come up as Force GPU Rendering.
Number 4 is what really made the difference for me. I expect battery usage to be more now, but after initial testing it actually seemed to drop less. I don't think the game ever played this smooth for me even before I started recording every game or when it was freshly cooled down.
