I already know that.. Let's not spend gold and cap beacons ( old days ) spend on rockets why?  ? DUE to the amount of gals and lances YOU can't stand a chance why? Their shields are annoying Run 4 RDBS and camp at mid range |

Don't force me to get it...... I'm getting 2 aphids and 2 orkans before 5th Case closed Compadre, YOU started this discussion to ask why everyone says "go for the 5th slot". So don't get all defensive when people tell you why. Players with a 5th slot have 25% more potential firepower available in their hangar than players with 4 slots. The 5th slot ALSO boosts your hangar's overall HP and thus longevity by 25% over a 4-bot hangar. You're also right that many matches only need 3-4 bots. However, as others have stated, having a fifth slot available gives you more options in battle. It allows you to take more risks, but mainly it means that, if you put one midrange or sniper bot in your hangar, you won't be handicapped on the smaller maps because you can still run four knifers. Having a 5th slot increases your versatility, and that alone is of immeasurable value. And again, you asked why. Nobody's trying to force you to do anything. You asked for opinions, you're gonna get them. Including people who can tell you from personal experience exactly why you're wrong. Cheers. |

That's like saying that we shouldn't have safeguards on airplanes just because nothing will go wrong if the pilot is good enough. The reason why we include safeguards, idiot proofing, and multiple redundant systems in engineering is in the case something goes wrong. This is because it's much harder for two or multiple systems to fail than one. ?poo-poo? will hit the fan inevitably(see Murphy's law), and when it does, you don't want to be up ?poo-poo? creek without a paddle. This is why there are hydraulic and manual flight control systems in aircraft nowadays even though we have fly-by-wire. It's also why the A-10 Warthog is such a beast, nearly half the plane could fall off and it could still be able to fly. Why does everyone choose 5th slot?? i know it gives a extra bot but if you can survive with 4 bots then you don't need it much. I can survive with my 4 bots sometimes already that's why I'm saving for 2 orks and 2 aphids just for an aphid death button Because THEY said so! ? but, you did ask. Seriously speaking, spend your resources the way you see fit. The 5th Slot Police won't come knocking at your door . Personally I waited to get a 5th slot, but I could afford to get it when I finally decided I needed it. Course, all my bots have anger management issues and try to run red bots down...when they shouldn't. |

Don't force me to get it...... I'm getting 2 aphids and 2 orkans before 5th Case closed It's a game. Do what is gonna be the most fun for you. Get the weapons. For me, having five slots asap was the most fun. Variety is nice. Especially early when you are facing a lot of 3-4 bot hangers. |

I bought my fifth slot before anything else, But if I can choose again, I probably will buy 2 Orkan, a Gareth/Galahad before 5th slot. Not because 5th slots is bad choice, just because I can upgrade the good bots or good weapons that worth the time to upgrade while I saving 5k for 5th slot.
Gareth /Galahad had 3-4 items, Db Griffin 5 items to upgrade, both bots and their weapons can be used for a long time. Your upgrade time is used wisely compare to upgrade items that is going to replaced during the long time saving of 5k gold.

MOAR damage, damage total is everything now. That is the current meta. If you can achieve that with four bots and the right investment then the 5th slot is pointless. Today I bought my 5th and threw in a crappy barley leveled RDB and my numbers are already looking better. Yet that was after avoiding the 5th slot for 2x Orks and a Galahad. No regrets on any gold purchases. I've got 5 slots and 2x Orks plus a Galahad and I agree getting the Orks and Gala first is a good move, otherwise you end up leveling stuff you dont need |

I just finally got my 5th slot. I spent my leveling up gold etc on things like Zeus, 2 Geckos, a Gepard, an Aphid, an Orkan. Getting that 5th slot was painful.
However, it's so worth it. I wish I had more slots, so I could actually use all the shiny bots and weps I bought earlier...
To do well early on, you really want at least 3 "standard" meta setups (chosen from xDB Griffins and Mag-Thunder Leos, maybe Orkan-Thunder Boa or Thunder Carnage or plasma Gareth). 5th slot allows you to get 2 "fun" builds and play around with them meaningfully. With just 4 slots and more weapons, you'll have a bunch of supposedly fun setups, but using them will just not bring you success. There's a reason top tier has certain bots almost exclusively.
Get the 5th slot!

I am a noob at this game, but very early on another forumer pointed out that as you advance you get more specialized builds.
So you might have a short range anti plasma bot and also a short range ancile bot, and you deploy with need and game situation.
So, it's not about meching out. It's about, as someone else has pointed already out, to have options.
Your bots are likely strong enough now with more general builds. But general will be weaker in the top level games.

Just bought 5th slot on my main account, the best thing i could have bought, better than any other, is truly game changing also if you run a bot underlevelled compared to the rest of your hangar, you can run 4 knifers and a midranger,rockets and plasma, fast and tank so you can be prepared for every combat situation!
