Current hangar:
Lvl 6 Galahad with one lvl 6 orkan and 2 lvl 5 pinatas Lvl 6 Pdb grif with weapons all lvl6 Lvl 6 Carny with lvl 6 thunders (carny will be 7) Lvl 6 Rdb grif weapons lvl 5
Currently i got enough gold to get my second orkan so i was wondering if i should get that second orkan and make a db grif and a plasmahad (swap weaps from grif and galahad) or save for 5th slot. Ty

I would go for the 5th slot. That extra slot gives you survibability and the ability to pock the bot your team needs in the battle, and not the bot you have.
Patience is king of this game.

The consensus is to grind for the 5th slot ... it is a loooooong grind tho' I only just recently have a Carnage and a Galahad after the grind but now in the process of leveling them up ... 5 slots gives you options

How comfortable are you with taking the griffin in really close?
If you delay the 5th Hanger bay do you think you'll mind the even larger lopsided difference in Bot levels? I'm running a four mech 9/9 hanger, just got over 5k Au and the current match-making has actually paused the purchase because my damage is behind the game meta and league I am in. Fix my hanger or expand the hanger, it sucks. A league is going to be more forgiving the lower you are.

I think a 5th slot is less important than it was before. I recently paid for it after a long grind, but lots of the competition at my level have 4 higher-level bots/weapons.
There's not a whole lot of need for "picking the right bot" when the meta is pretty much "just damage".

5th slot, nothing can add to your firepower or capping abilities more that that. And you can run a wider variety of bots thus being able to better adapt to terrain and situation.
If many shield bots are on the field, I drop splash. If many knifers are on my team, I do mid-range support. If everybody is running heavies, I drop my Stalker and go capping.
It's like an extra life in a computer game. Er.. wait, this is a computer game???

5th Slot, and I'd switch Plasma to Galahad and Orkans/Pinatas to Griffin anyway. You can run Magnum/Orkan on that Griffin until you have the 5th slot and a second Orkan.

I think a 5th slot is less important than it was before. I recently paid for it after a long grind, but lots of the competition at my level have 4 higher-level bots/weapons. Just watch your leagues. Players with 4-slot hangars always underperform compared to their weapon and robot level. That 5th slot can be a level 6 RDB Griffin, or a Thunder Magnum/Pinata Leo, the upgrade time for that is below 2 days. Or, as it is fun to have a closer look at that: Yes, of course a 4-robot hangar upgrades quicker. But by how much? Upgrade times grow pretty fast, so you'll catch up quickly. I made a list of some robots and weapons in my hangar with their ugrade times, and watch out: If upgrading from 6 to 7 is baseline (factor 1), then upgrades from 7->8 take 1.34 that time, 8->9 factor 1.62, 9->10 factor 2.03, 10->11 factor 2,80 and 11->12 factor 3.57. Now, say you are sitting at level 6 and need 30 days for the upgrade to level 7 with your 5-robot hangar, 40 more days to level 8, 49 days to level 9, 119 days total. The other guy with a 4-robot hangar needs 24 days to 7, 32 days to level 8, 39 days to level 9, 95 days total. He needs 49 days to level 10. So, if you reach level 9, a 4-robot hangar is sitting at level 9.5. The difference gets less if you get to higher levels, and my calculations do not account for players upgrading a bit more than their slots (I'm trying to upgrade 4 knife fighters and 2 mid rangers, because I alternate between 1- and 2-midrange setups). What's better, a 5-robot hangar at level 9 or a 4-robot hangar at level 9.5? The 5-robot hangar, hands down. BTW, as a rule of thumb, most robots take 15-20 days upgrading from 6 to 12, most light weapons take 7-10 days, medium weapons 12-14 days and heavy weapons 16-20 days. There are a few exceptions that upgrade longer (Fujin) or quicker (Molot, Golem), but still, that makes for pretty similar upgrade times for all popular builds, of course a Magnum Stalker upgrades quicker than a Zeus Fury. To get a robot from 6 to 12 you'll need roughly 60-70 days in most setups. The last 2 levels take roughly as long as all prior levels combined. Or in other words, a year for a full hangar There's not a whole lot of need for "picking the right bot" when the meta is pretty much "just damage". Ugh, no. Matchups are everything. In the wrong matchup you'll just die. A Zeus Carnage is a beast, but if it's facing a Plasma Gary it will go down, quickly. If you see Anciles you need Plasma, if you see physical shields you need splash. So, flexibility is everything.

5th slot gives (besides obvious - added firepower) the flexibility. I would be supper happy If I could exchange my loadout to 5.5 hangar (6 on standby, but only 5 can be used in given match). Playstyle varies greatly depending on the map, so if you (like me) prefer to fight the map you were given instead of quitting and reloading the match, the more bots you have, the better your chances will be to get through whatever game drops on you.
