Just won a match outscored by 2 million, and our team lost the bot battle 22 - 16. Beacons rule!

In answering the post's question, beacon control controls how the entire game is played. If a team is losing on the beacon bar, they need to play more aggressively than the team that is in possession of dominance, meaning they have to risk their bots' necks a bit more... that's a really big deal! Congrats btw!

Congrats btw! Thank ya. It was a random team effort. I did a double take when I saw just how lopsided the score was. Beacons aside, we were getting our collective tails whipped.

Since the introduction of leagues, many players will focus even more on damage. Not good. Especially frustrating if you end up on the losing side, I had 4 close games yesterday where I came in last or next to last on the losing team, but always within 25% of the damage of the top player. -50 league cups, yay! I did less damage because I was the only one trying to get or defend some beacons. You know, like keeping a Gary from getting a beacon piloting a Plasmahad, which can cost you 2 minutes and gives you minimal damage, but still it has to be done. I thought at some point a teammate might come and help me because it was a near beacon, but no luck there.
OTOH, I had a squad game we won where our top scorer had ~350k damage, while some reds had over 650k. The game changes even if you have a single teammate you can rely on.

Since the introduction of leagues, many players will focus even more on damage. Not good. I believe that any good player will for sure be gunning a bit harder for damage, but they will also be capping needed beacons if they know what they are doing. There will always be those gold chaser medal of capture cappers in higher tiers anyway

It is really important. One of the two conditions of winning is occupying more beacons or killing all enemies. That means that you can still lose when the enemy took more beacons despite your team depleting their enemy team pilot count.

Beacons are only important if you like winning... True. Losing 20 points isn't that much fun.

Well damage is king. It seems after the league everyone just rushes to the middle to get as much damage as possible. It's kinda stupid. I try to go for beacons but I just end up near the bottom of the damage score because of the time I spend running around the map. All I get for my efforts is a measly 2 cups.
