We know how the rating is modified after subsequent games, but people have speculated that the initial calculation (first 5 games) isn't just damage-based.

as far as i can see it is only the cup rating that put you into specific tier.
if your rating is 2880 and after 5 games you manage to make 20 more then you can go up 1 more step.
like me im in diamond II, around 80 cups more then i will be in diamond 1 (2900).

According to the right side of the screen in your op, if you manage to advance to the next tier, you will earn an extra 130 gold. If advancing in leagues earns you gold bonuses, pix is just asking for everyone to tank their qualifications matches. This will allow them to start in a lower league and allow them to earn more gold as they advance into higher leagues throughout the month.

I have to say I love the look of the GUI, you can see where you as a player rank in your league and compare yourself to your peers.

According to the right side of the screen in your op, if you manage to advance to the next tier, you will earn an extra 130 gold. If advancing in leagues earns you gold bonuses, pix is just asking for everyone to tank their qualifications matches. This will allow them to start in a lower league and allow them to earn more gold as they advance into higher leagues throughout the month. That is probably what I am going to do. Play super passively in the first 5 rounds. Really need my Aphids ASPAP. |

I was really uncertain about the leagues deal. I thought that once you get put into a league those would be the people you faced for the whole month, so I was confused when Bronze 2 tier was meeting silver players more then other bronze players. And don't get me wrong, the bronze tier is filled to the brim with Griffs, Nattis, Garrys, Carnages, Fujins and Rajins, all with deadly plasma and the like.

I think it's more about tertiary effects from your play-style, and the simple chaotic mess of opportunities and failures in combat. On my iOS account with an approximately level 7 hangar, I made the Diamond III league. On my Android account with an approximately level 9.5 hangar, I made the Gold III league. This is confusing the hell out of me. I play both accounts with the same style (beacon eater, btw). Other than a 2+ equipment level difference, the only other significant difference is that my iOS account hasn't been around long enough to get all the extra toys that my Android account has. my iOS hangar had a Cossack... my Android account has a freshly minted Lancelot, for pity's sake. I did better in this new league system with crappier gear. Your mileage may vary. |

I tried sandbagging my placement by using weak bots, didn't lower me much. Ended up in silver 1 instead of gold 3 like last time. On my right side it says "you have already recieved the bonus for the next league". We may have a bunch of tankers this time, but there won't be any profit in in after first time. |

Looks like people on iOS get easier matches longer, and so are able to rise to higher leagues with worse equipment. Might explain why the complaints about MM were more bitter, longer from the Android people.  |

I have already moved up a rank. There was no gold reward for moving up. I was informed that I had already received my gold for this season. I'm not sure whether this counts for each jump up the ladder, but my initial thought is booo!
There is a statement that you will be playing your league peers. 80 games into this league play this is only partially true. I'm in diamond level 2. Most of my games are against players placed in higher leagues. Not that I care who I play against but as is par for the course my teammates are not always similar in strength. A lot of cases they are in copper league and have level 6/7 setup while I'm level 10/11.
Don't hold your breath that this league garbage will make things all better. It seems to be the same weak algorithm. But it is shiny so that should distract people for a few weeks.

We are weeks into it already and am still running into mixes of low level players on both red and blue. I would like to think the ditchers are the one screwing up the matches. I hope it sorts it self out soon. I've almost lost the will to play. |

I got a gold reward for diamond (I was already in diamond 1) and it said I have been promoted to diamond 1.....so no changes other than I got some free gold. (I went 2 for 5 in the qualifying, so nothing special)
