When i was in Silver/Gold leagues (Diamond now) i had two Vortex and an Aphid (all high levels) load out on the Hover and it used to storm the opposition at 50% hp a pop but these days it just seems to get blown out of the sky before i can get close enough to do any serious damage. Am thinking of using it now for more ground based work and using the jump to move away if things get too hot. I tried Molot-Ts with the Aphid but they take forever to wind up to full speed so im thinking of using some of the millions of Tulumbas i have in my hangar but not sure if its worth levelling them up to useful power? Are they any good in this role?

Well there are a few options.
2x pulsar/shredder:
A very versatile build, when enemy is spotted you activate your hover's ability and drift over to them, but only slightly. Then, lock them down with your glue guns and drift over behind them and finish them off.
2x corona/halo:
Same as the previous one, but with a higher probability for lock down.
2x corona/gust:
Will still lock down enemies, but the gust has a narrower spread than the halo.
Hope this helps, there are many builds out there that suit peoples play style.

My Halo/Orkans Hover is a beast in Expert/Master battles as long as I stay out of the air because when I get in range to brawl with full hp bots, I may get killed before I kill them. Hover is so tanky now. I believe it got a hp increase recently.

If you were faced with a robot with a shield the Orkans would have to catch up with the halo - by destroying the shield first. However it is your opinion so I will respect that.
The one I run is a pulsar/shredder combination.

Hover has speed of 60... Just run through the freaking shield!

However, like I said it is your opinion.
I have to agree though that it would be a powerful build if weapons were leveled up to max...

Good Hover setups are 700m molot cheap 600m scourge expensive 500m tulumbas, shredder cheap
Assuming you level the weapons very high mk2 or at least mk1 12. And the hover to lvl 10.
Whatever the hover takes some practice. There are alot of articles about him in this forum.
Advantage speed and get into firing positon with a jump from behind cover.
I use a hover, 10, shredder, 10 tulumbas mk2 max in champ. One of the cooler maneuver is to evade orkan fire with a jump then finish that specter. You don't have the firepower to get a bot in one go but the speed to escape fast or get into firing position.
Used the molot for a while but they require long fire intervals and the hovee moves/ jumps fast and the targets tend to hide. The tulumba unloads quickly and I use the time behind cover to recharge and reposition. The splash hits reds behind cover and once in a while the shredder locks down someone.
I use to test my setups on the testserver. I use one of my setups I know well and next to it I experiment. This gives me a good feel what works and what doesn't.

Thanks for the advice to all.
Now that lockdown is nerfed is it worth investing in lockdown setups though. If we assume there is no lockdown do these weapons actually deliver the damage they claim coz they seem to spread out quite a lot which makes me think they wont.
BTW, I didnt know there was a test server. How do you get on it?

I often run a Taran/Magnum Hover. It works pretty well in Gold 1 + Diamond 3. It has enough health to stand a reasonable chance in brawls (so long as you don’t run into Orkan Spectres or equivalent). The key things for me are making use of the mobility and the positioning opportunities. (It’s easy to get to the high edge of the Dreadnought and the curved Shenzhen rooftop, for example, then rain plasma down on passing bots.
The mobility and health make it a reasonable distraction bot as well. It’s an extreme case, but on Yamantau I managed to get 4 reds to follow me around the base rather than pushing centre. (I hit each of them with a couple of shots, then dropped down and ran around the non-beacon side. I did get caught (when I passed the rear ramp, where 2 bots massacred me). But it kept 4 bots tied up effectively in their spawn for a little while, and we ended up winning on beacon control.

You have to sign into Hockey app to download the test server.

Spydra Hover is a good last drop build if you need a hang back and annoy reds once they thin out and have the mobility to scoot around and fly over walls to cap beacons. The extra height also helps with lobbing in missiles.
Tesla Hover for me lately is a beast. Spark/Scourge/Ion. Enjoyable, fly around with lock on at 600mtrs.
Level that Hover up and you won't regret it.

Scourge and halo/shredder. Root occasionally. Deal strong damage. Be a pest. Be THE support bot. Support at 400m behind redeemer Taran teammates. Support at 500m when you can’t get close. Support at 200m when the shotguns are coming to town. Support at 50m from behind and they didn’t notice you. So many possibilities.
I am in expert and I use a lvl7 hover with lvl 8 Scourge and lvl 4 shredder. It is strong.
@earlcampbell used to run two Mk2 hovers in champs. Now he runs one.

Support at 200m when the shotguns are coming to town. Support at 50m from behind and they didnâ??t notice you. So many possibilities. I am in expert and I use a lvl7 hover with lvl 8 Scourge and lvl 4 shredder. It is strong. @earlcampbell used to run two Mk2 hovers in champs. Now he runs one. Rule number one, many exceptions aside, don't use your ability unless you are attacking (or defending an attack). Counter attacks are especially effective when red's stealth is gone, obviously, and few bots have the unique reach.
To the OP, Scourge/Shredder, this build light years ahead of any other Hover build. I downloaded the game a year ago, and have played at least one Hover in nearly every match since I got it last January. I've run basically every possibility on Hover, no other build is nearly as effective due to the ability/weapon synergy with Scourge..
The bot's strength, as others have pointed out, is support. Specifically: flanking, scouting, trolling/distracting and when required, capping.
Scourge-Hover build is a beast in Champion league, even in top squad vs top squad (D, C, B squads). Versus randoms with squad, rolling multi Godlikes is easy if you continue to monitor your field position and teammate's engagements. My signature has some vids taken in direct succession in one day. The videos are all blue solos, all vs Master/Champ mixtures and are not cherry picked to show only good stuff. It is what it is.
@phantombeasty you're right, with my squad it is only one Hover, usually a later drop.
But playing solo, often I run:
Hover Hover Hellburner Strider Pursuer
So I can do my thing quickly (cap, grab some Ag, give a savvy team a shot) and get the hell out and leave it too the hoards of Dragoon Bullwarks, Tulu and Hydra Spectres etc. to lob their pussiness at each other for the last 7 minutes or so. By the time they've sorted which team has more long range camping ?kitty cats?, I'm 2 matches down the road.

yup use the Ground Speed to your advantage, it's one of the Hovers Greatest Strengths and use the Hover ability if you are at least sure you won't be hit. it is a Great First Drop on many Maps when you run it enough you will see how it Excels at many Roles. like Earl i have run one since it Came out and is one of my Best Bots and i have Many of the Bots Now with the Exception of the Pantheon(wants me a Nemisis though)Bulwark, Invader and Blitz(the last 2 i'am a Week away from getting Both). if i can add anything at all Learn how to Use Ledges to Stop the Hover from Rising and Skim the Terrain, i have found this very Useful. i have enjoyed many of the Builds Typed above, now I'am having great results with the Hover ArBallista Build. i can Hit just about any Red on the Map by Carefulling Using the Hover Ability and the ground speed. this build can make Shots that No other Bot can Make.
