Is it possible to use a controller to play war robots? Can you recommend some good quality controllers?

most android devices should be compatible with your usual controllers (Playstation and xbox) although not all of them are(Huawei being one of them) I have successfully paired a sixaxis (ps3) controller to my old samsung using the sixasis controller app from the play store. Would depend on the device you play on and the controller i guess.

You can play ANY touch control only app with sixaxiscontroller app. I use a dualshock 4 and it works great but you must be rooted. Unfortunately it interferes with my internet now due to bluetooth so im stuck with touch control. Using the ds4 and an otg cable almost works for war robots, but the right stick is kinda half inverted and one weapon button also brings up a menu, just incase you thought you might be able to adapt. It would be so easy to have button mapping but these jerks want us stuck with dodgy controls. Its so annoying when im trying to single fire and the whole lot goes off, wasteful and very annoying. Look at asphalt 8, perfect controller support with no setup. There is a google and samsung controllers but i have not tried them.

Downside on the Apex is you can't map beacon drop points to buttons, plus some of the menu options are harder to do. I briefly tried one and returned it, in part because of that (also aggravated my carpal tunnel in my hand which was the bigger issue for me). More of a problem with a phone clipped to it, whereas Chief uses a tablet flat on a table. Haven't tried a controller where the controls clip on the phone's sides but seem like for this game those might be better for phone players.

Excuse my ignorance why does it need to map beacon drop points?

Excuse my ignorance why does it need to map beacon drop points? It's just a bit awkward trying to select stuff with the screen when the phone is attached to the controller. Also it causes a delay which prevents you from dropping on beacons that are being turned by the reds. Not the biggest deal but I found it kinda annoying myself.
