After a looooong grind, and resisting temptations, I got the 5th slot. Now I don't know whether to save up for two okrans or one of the camelot bots. Everyone keeps raving about either. Any suggestions?

Orkans are your second most important purchase behind your 5th slot. Aim for at least 4 (though I recommend 6) to sufficiently stock a hangar.
Every major heavy bot has a DB build dependent on Orkans. Griffins, Rhinos, Lancelots all need Orkans if you plan on doing DB setups (which are super important in top end play).

I don't know about 6, but I would recommend at least 2. I say this as someone who hasn't bought any, as of yet. They are on my shopping list.

Buying two Orkans and then concentrating on levelling them up will never be a waste. The general advice of weapons before 'bots is good - no point having a fabulous shiny new special 'bot if you can't properly take advantage of it with an effective load-out.
That said, if you have workshop points and plasma weapons a Plasmahad is one of the best general-purpose 'bots in the game - I would recommend getting one as a priority.

I would take orkans over a shield bot, but both will eventually happen. I went with a plasmahad before orkans myself but a lot of it depends on the rest of your hanger and your playstyle.
If you show your hanger the advice you get may be better. Either way orkans or galahad are never a waste.

4 Orkans is preferred.

Congrats! 5th slot is a pain to farm since it isn't tangible like a shiny bot or weapons, even though it does translate to an extra bot space.
I can't figure out if I like my orkan piñata griffin more or my plasma Galahad. Both are great, so do what you like on this. My Galahad survives longer though. Some people go for the cheaper Gareth, since that's like a sort of speedy intro to Galahad.

The order of gold purchases after the 5th slot which I would suggest is: 2 Orkans, Galahad, 2 Orkans, Fury / Lancelot, 4 Aphids / Ancile (If Lancelot), Fury / Lanclot, 2 Zeus

I'd echo what others have said. Weapons before bots, so that when you get the bot you have something useful to put on it. Can't go wrong with Orkans but I'd say just two to start with - get used to how they work and how that fits with your playing style and that should inform your decision making process for the future bots and weapons choices.
Although it won't feel like it initially, WSP does gather quite fast and you'll eventually find you have a surplus of it, so don't be afraid to experiment with that - at the lower levels plasma is super effective; less so as you rise because of all the shields, but never entirely redundant.

I'll just share my experience with gold spending
4th slot: absolutely Gepard: no longer use and useless now but it worked before 5th slot: absolutely Orkans x4: don't regret Galahad: don't regret Lancelot: regret Aphids x2: love
It kinda depends on what you have in your hangar but you cannot go wrong with x4 Orkans or a Galahad.

I got 2 orkans before my 5th slot. I never regretted it. A death button is just that powerful and helps you earn gold.

Any suggestions? CONGRATS! It's a difficult test and kind of a patience game to squeeze 5k Au and resist spending it early! After I did 5th slot, I went for Galahad (+plasma) and just recently followed it with 2 Orkans. Either way you need both and the final answer may depend on your hangar and typical opponents you are facing. If (1) you feel like having a bigger problem with shielded bots - go for orkans, in case (2) some a bot with extra survivability is a missing piece of your hangar - take Gala first.

Lances are primary targets and don't survive too long. On top of that comes the shield nerf and abundance of splash munitions. Overall I think in average I tend to win more skirmishes with Lances than loosing to them. It's big, slow, all-favorite target. Even with some extra HP it's simply too clumsy. Just my 0,02$

Lancelot regret? Maybe at the highest Tiers of play the Lance transforms into something special but under level 8, the Lance moves with the vigor of continental drift. Prolific Aphid use means you're a sitting duck most of the time and it forces you to hug walls, hugging walls however makes you a target of the thousands of rockets everyone carries. The first drive in a Lance is AGONISING.

Prolific Aphid use means you're a sitting duck most of the time and it forces you to hug walls, hugging walls however makes you a target of the thousands of rockets everyone carries. The first drive in a Lance is AGONISING. I acquired a Lance ages ago, persevered with it for a while but eventually gave up and shelved it. I described it on here once as a slow moving rocket magnet. But having moved up a few levels (I'm now almost 10/10) and found I was struggling to be competitive for damage dealt, I re-jigged my hangar a bit and brought the big boy out of retirement. The results have been quite satisfactory - you have to move cautiously and select your targets carefully but I'm finding it quite effective now. If you check out the top league players, you'll find quite a healthy smattering of Lancelots in their hangars which suggests they may be worth sticking with - especially having spent all the gold on them in the first place!

I cant decide between 2x aphids or ancile. Got 4 orkans, Galahad, lancelot and 5th already. Lancelot is only lvl 5 and IT is à Death trap. Strapping an ancile on IT Will make IT an even more expensive death trap?
