There are around: 19 who think tanking is cheating 47 who think tanking is not cheating but think that it is dishonorable 21 who think tanking is not cheating There are 66 not in favor of tanking vs 21 who are in favor of tanking. So for those who think that 80% of the forum supports tanking, it's actually a bit less than 25%. And Pixo is working on a solution to the problem, they have stated before that they are looking into penalties for quitting too frequently. Once again, keep this disscussion to the above stated rules only. Any further discourse will net you one strike. Thats 68 to19 that dont think its cheating. Being one of the 47 that think its dishonorable please don't group me with the ones that think its cheating as they are totally different views. I'm so glad pix is aware of the problem.....lol. I'm sure they will be aware of it for a lot of years before anything if anything ever gets done about it.

This whole vein of discussion was eventually going to get managed in some way or another... It would seem it is preferable to sanitize the forums a bit to appease the Russian overlords rather than have the anti-Pix sentiment and general negativity about the game on full blast in general discussion. Fun fact: Pixonic has literally zero input on how these forums are administered and conducted. The board has gotten out of hand. I will admit to being part of the problem. Since PIX has officially placed our link in the game, I do imagine that anti-PIX sentiment could be quashed, as it would look poor for the forum, and the appearence of pro-pix is more desireable. In addition, I do find it hard to believe, now that we are recognized by PIX, that there is absolutely no influence of any kind on the forum.

If I can be frank and candid, I don't care a whit what you find hard to believe. There is the truth, and then there's your belief. They appear to be leagues apart.

It is funny that in a thread about the new rules of the forum the mods actually had to ask folks to be civil in the discussion of the rules....it just shows what a state of frustration is out there with the game right now that is spilling over to the forums. Thanks Mods and admins for laying down the law....I've found the game to be more enjoyable than the forums lately, and the game hasn't gotten any more enjoyable for me so that tells you the direction the forum has gone IMO. We can't control what happens in matches to a certain extent except to do our best.....on the forums it is a different story as we control our own destiny here. Just do your best. Well, if mods/admins had laid down the law earlier and kept conversations civil from the start, I think would still be able to discuss MM and encourage tanking in the open. It sets a poor precedent that bad behavior (by the anti-tanking faction) successfully got a whole subject banned from general discussion. Oh damn, you managed to blame your arguing on the admins. Don't try and pin the blame on anti-tankers, everyone who took part in the argument (pro-tankers and anti-tankers alike) are to blame, don't be that kid who blames everyone else for his rude behaviour. The mods are in no way at fault for the fact our arguing got the discussion banned, everyone who took part knew the proper etiquette and behavioural standards of the forum

I don't understand you nor understand why I'm getting dragged into your response - I have never supported tanking. I see some of your responses where you say you don't agree with me.....I'm uncertain to what exactly you are referring. I think I'm in the majority that don't consider it cheating but less than honorable. i also don't support the blanket accusation that gep drivers are automatically tankers and cheaters - seems like tanking/ditching is a different swath of people. happy to continue the conversation on PM to clarify what exactly I've said that would lead you to this conclusion that I support tanking. cheers. Might be best to read the part that says I wasn't sure. Sorry mate, I wasn't born with a photographic memory, I just got you confused, so that's a pretty obvious reason why you were 'dragged' into the response. Continue this in a PM.

One thing that will help a ton is if you guys report posts instead of retorting. This. Hopefully it wont be abused, with every other person complaining when someone disagrees with then or the majority, or somesones beak gets tweaked cause someone "looked" at them wrong. At least I wont be the one that has to deal with em.

I wonder if the rants area will become the most active part of this forum? I used to avoid it but have been visiting more lately.

I check the Rants as much as I check any other section. So contrary to a prior poster, I do not think moving the tanking discussions to Rants is sidelining an issue at all.
My thanks to Dredd and other moderators who contributor their time to herd us cats. I have learned MUCH about how to play well in this game through this forum and thoroughly enjoy many of the funny and quality posts as part of the whole game experience.
I have no problem with moderators being moderators.

I wonder if the rants area will become the most active part of this forum? I used to avoid it but have been visiting more lately. Years ago I moderated on a message board for Celtic and Rangers fans- the very bitterest of soccer rivalries. We had rules and a code of conduct, and one of the board's forums, "Slagging Match," had a relaxed ruleset. Was literally designed to be the place where folks could take the mickey off each other, with only a few "red line" issues that could not be discussed.
Was the most popular section of the board.

I am a member at another board (not a game board) that has a section that is viewable only if logged in, so that the average browser can't access or see it. There they relaxed language and post rules to encompass all that is considered not bannable, but not proper for the rest of the forum. Pretty much anything but nudity and direct threats to a member was allowed. All flame wars and related issues ended up being moved there. Much like what you are describing. It keeps the main forums clean and full of actual info. Maybe something to that effect would be good here? IF the ranting move doesn't serve the purpose well enough... that is.

But rules come from group concensus of our morals over time. Example, you could marry a child in the middle ages (still can in some places) while now we have laws stipulating the age. Why? Our morals changed.
If the poll is accurate, and 80% of the forum posters agree tanking isn't cheating, then it should follow that tanking, and discussion of, isn't against the rules.
Within democracy, abstention votes (those who chose not to vote) go with the majority - going back to the 80%.
As much as I think tanking is worsening peoples' experience of the game, it shouldn't be hidden away.
