It's legitimately depressing, how absolutely FUBAR'ed it's become. My hangar is 6/7 average, 4 'mechs. There is absolutely no way I can play or anything I can do, between the wide mismatches and the players ditching on my end, to do anything about it.
I really do love the game itself, and I've probably dropped 60 bucks or so on it over the months I've played, but it really isn't fun anymore, now that I'm just a punching bag for teams that average 9 to 10 with mechs and weapons. Only players who were already high are having any kind of fair, enjoyable matches now.
I'm going to give Pixonic a month or two to make real and balanced changes, and if it hasn't happened by then, I'm going to have to find other things to do with my time.
I don't mind losing, and I don't ditch, but I'm not going to waste lunch breaks or evening free-time by just being target practice.

The question with the new MM is: What do you want? 1) Do you want to take top damage? If so, you're going to rubber band like crazy until you hit the top tier. 2) Do you want gold? If so, your most consistent path will be dailies and beacons, not damage. See #1. 3) Do you want silver? If so, kiss your win rate goodbye. See #1. 4) Do you want to win? If so, let go of damage or beacons, as primary goals and become very aware of your team and where the gaps in your match are. You'll need to merge that with opportunism. Sometimes you take top damage, sometimes beacons, sometimes both, lots of times neither, and sometimes you'll be at the bottom of your team. But, you'll win more.

I like to feel like a contribution to the team, to score victories, and feel like my tactical / purchase choices have some meaning and outcome to the games I play. I do almost precisely as you describe, but results vary wildly. There's only so much you can do against an overpowered team, and especially when one or two of your team are ditching / tanking. I will continue to try my best, but if trying hard accomplishes nothing, I won't be sticking around. (Thanks for your input, by the by. It's appreciated.)

It took me two days and 2-3 hours of playing just to win 8 battles to complete an 8 battle goal. I have spent about as much as you and I'm getting torn apart. Oddly enough my hanger looks pretty close to yours.
