Is it really worth having more than one on your bot? Lock down aside, does a shredder outclass other light weapons damage wise? Has anyone used a solo lock down weapon and not locked down their target with a full clip?

running a Gala lvl9 ork lvl10/shredder lvl7/ gustlvl10/ an Griff lvl9 (2)tulu lvl 10/pin lvl10/ shredder lvl6. sometimes it will lock-down with 1 drum but most of the time it will take 2 but that is OK since reload time is 3seconds. you can fire in sequence if you have 3 or more and put out a constant Stream of Pink Bolts. starting to notice that it takes more to Lock a Spec.
ran 3 Shreds with a Leo an always managed a lock-down with multiple Shreds but that is because there were 3 and the odds were better. the higher the level your lock percentage goes up.
the Stats show more Dmg then a Pun and you get the added bonus of it bypassing Ancile type Shields. a Bulworks Aegis Shield i have no idea how it performs since it has been awhile since i have fought one.
hope this helps.
edit: if you hit a Inq or Spec Mid Jump the time in the Air counts toward lock-down time which is Stupid it should start when they hit ground. if your trying to hit a Bot that is Stealthed it is better to fire at them when they are about 350m+ since the spray pattern seems the same as a Pun.
every now and then if you lock a Spec, Inq, or Purse that has yet to pop stealth it can Break lock-down.

its not really a lockdown.. just locks the feet of the bot. They can still turn and fire... ie ROOT weapons...

I run a dedicated HooverRooter. L9 Hover, 2xPulsar L5,1xShredder L5. I'm in DiamondII at the moment.
It's a dedicated utility bot that comes in particularly handy during KoTH matches, slows down beacon cappers and focuses the teams firepower on specific targets of opportunity. It is usually my 2nd or 3rd bot after surveying the battlefield.
One rooting weapon is great for 1v1 where the rooter compliments your other ouch-inducing-impliments.
Having multiple root weapons aligns more with coordinated fireteam play. As mentioned elswhere only a single glory or shredder is necessary on a Pursuer to enhance its effectiveness.
Putting 2 or 3 pulsars on a Hover or dash bot makes for a dedicated support role. If you are lucky enough to be gifted with intelligent blues that are well endowed with leveled equipment, you will be amazed at how quickly a team of random blues organize and focus fire on a red that has the rooted icon above it.
As always, YMMV.

Top guys are only running 1 on their pursuer or 1 on their spec.is all ive been seeing. you only really need to run one. since it will take 1-2 clips to lock-down any Bot and the higher you Root Weapon lvl the more likely you'll lock one down. to get the most outta it your Team has to Be Aware you have a Root-Gun(fire a burst so they see this ). so when you Root a Red they know to Target the Red and help take them down. so it's kinda of a Team Support and area of Suppression Weapon. mine are still lvl 7 and climbing so i can't comment on the high lvl of dmg.

I played alot on the test server and a great build I found was a galahad with two shredder and a taran. The damage end of lock down weapons is suprisingly normal it unloads fast reloads fast and has decent damage. As for the lock down question, even with just the Glory on a Lance, I still never have failed to lock someone down.

More weapons the higher the chance of root.
The equation to find out how many you want or whether it's worth it to you is
1-(1-p)^n
Where p is the probability of root ... for level 12 it's 0.36. and n is the number of root weapons you're shooting.
So a Spectre shooting 4 lvl12 Pulsars has a chance of root of 83% instead of the mere 36% it would have if it were just shooting one pulsar.

Look at the stats of the Shredder. It has more DPS than the Punisher T. Lower DPC true, but it also reloads in 3 freaking seconds. As a standalone weapon without the root effect, it's already pretty powerful. I'd say, if you have multiple Shredders already, go ahead and use them together while you slowly upgrade them.
