've often pondered something similar - if a physical shield had a separate health bar so you could see it depleting as it took hits (same as an energy shield), would users of shieldbots still happily stand in the open and take fire? Likewise, would the attacker (assuming not using rockets) still fee like the attack is futile? I think not. It's like the shield gives an illusion of invincibility where, because the owner can't see the damage being done, they pretend/forget that it is happening. Either that or they just consider the shield expendable and are happy to throw away their advantage cheaply - which is crazy really, because it doesn't regenerate like an energy shield does! I think you make a very good point here. People break off attacks on shield bots all the time because they feel it's futile and they don't want to die without any noticeable contribution. Shield bot players also tend to play more aggressive due to the illusion, and a lot of times that aggression actually produce good results. In conclusion, the shields have intangible benefits. Nice insight and point. Do you think paint jobs have a (sort of similar) phycological/intangible effect? I've never seen the point of wasting gold, paintjobs seem for those in TT with surplus. I therefore thus tend to avoid A war painted Lancelot of example if I have another optio and go for for another team mate as I reckon the Lance will be loaded with 10/10++ Orkans and he handy. i run 8/8

You can get inside the shield and destroy the ancelot with splash, use a quad Orkan doc to take it down - also a thunder Orkan lance works - use the thunder to drop the ancile shield quickly and then Orkans for the kill. Also a plasma Galahad will sometime do. the trick or attack it with a teammate.
The Lancelot is so slow that I don't see it as similar to the Gepard farming setups you compared it to, nor do I find the ancile it's firepower to be disproportional to that of enemies. I do agree that when used properly with your teammates an ancelot can make or break a crucial push - making it a robot worth running depending on your squad's composition.

There are ppl who avoid it and there are those like me who go after it with extreme prejudice.
