Hi everyone! I am enjoying War Robots and have progressed to that line between Bronze I and Silver III. Oh yes, THAT PLACE in the progression.  Now, there is a lot of helpful advice on the web and this forum. I read all about the current meta of dash-robots, orkans, and shocktrains. And, I have found great information on how to start off, which I would have liked to have known ahead of time. "What? I needed that beginning gold for a 4th robot slot in my hanger?" 
But, what I cannot find is any information on how to make that transition from being a fresh beginner to being a decent player on a team. How do you compete when all you have are silver robots and a brand new workshop? What weapons and robots can hold their own in Silver until you can change up your entire line up?
What is a good line up for a Silver and beyond hanger? What weapons and and robots look good at first but are really traps?
There's such a gap in the information. So, I am asking for War Robots 200a "Stepping Up Your Game." |

Classis first thought is:"Griffin up". On these Griffins put some Punishers, Tulumbas/Pins, Taran/Magnums. Tarans and Magnums should be priority in your workshop. I suggest no more than 2 Magnums, maybe 3.They both are also obtainable in chests. Slots and Orkans or vice versa. Think hard what you will level up. In long term only Tarans and Orkans are worth leveling from classic gear. From component gear, if you are interested, dash bots, Scourge and Spectre. One item at a time. Bulgasari is strong, Kumiho is a great little molester. This from advancment point of view. There are other ways. For instance mastering a Rhino and Thunder Carnage. Rogatka. Leo. Stalker. And so on. And long story short, defend beacons(if there are any) and help a teammate in engadgement. Don't rush into open and check your ranges. Etc... |

As far as what I've got, I have a three slot hanger and around 760 gold. I'm saving all my gold to get my 4th slot. Made some dumb decisions early on like putting a paint job on my Destrier but I'm determined to get that extra slot. After that I'm saving up for an extra hanger. I have several setups, depending on my mood. The current one is two Leos and one Griffin. The Griffin is set up as Russian Death Button, two pins with two tumblas. First Leo has two pinatas, one punisher, and one thunder. The second has two magnums, one pinata, and one thunder. I also have two Natashas whom I adore, pokey girls that they are. One has two kangs and two molots, she's my sniper. The other Nat is my artillery bot. She switches between zennits & noricum. I never shoot everything at once. Sometimes, I'll put two punishers and two thunders on her. Finally, I have a host of other bots that I roll in just for fun. My favorite is the golem. He's my get you when you peek around the corner bot. He's armed with a thunder, a punisher t, and a punisher. My style is to grab a beacon and defend, or confuse the enemy by tagging a beacon then running away, forcing them to reclaim said beacon. I also protect smaller bots and try to draw fire away from them. Still working on using the terrain. So much stuff seems to hit you, even when you are behind a wall. I don't get that. *sigh* I play quite a bit. Being disabled, I'm limited in what I can do so I play War Robots to pass the time. |

Mothbot, I'd have given you a very different answer about a month ago. Now, i'm not sure. So play how you want and try and have fun as it is for you. There is no "right" answers at the moment because everything is in major flux.
If you're trying to get into top tier champion league as fast as possible, then go watch champions play and make that gear your goal, not straying at all. But be mindful, the gear will be changing faster than you can acquire/level it in most situations (unless you're willing to spend some major money) and then all bets are off. This is basically a 'new' game. Videos of a year ago from stewpendous,adrian, manni, are basically outdated. They do have some good info, but since you're still quite new it won't matter. Soon, you'll come up against all the top tier stuff anyway and you can see it wiping the battle field clean in mere moments. Play skirmish and have fun test driving for the weekend and see if it's something you'll want. Personally, I wouldn't buy any bots with gold because there is a really good chance you'll win one from the BM chests. Save up your gold and when you have 10k then buy something. There are often deals that will sell bots/gear for cheap. Best advise is be patient.

Griffin, Leo, and Natasha are great early choices since they come as level 6 bot, readily usable. I would recommend though, not to level too many of them up too high, as you will get better bots along the way. Leveling a couple Griffin, maximum one Leo, and maximum one Natasha up to level 9 (maximum speed) would be fine, but I would not level more than that.
In addition to these "heavy" robots, you have quite some options to have fun among medium bots. Golem and Boa are good. Boa is good placeholder when you bought your first Taran or Orkan. You may also get Rogatka, Doc, etc from the black market. I would just use whatever the lottery throw on my way, rather than spend Au for them.
Leveling weapons will be more beneficial than leveling bots bought at the early stage. Especially, medium weapons - PunisherT, Orkan, and Taran could be used until the end game.
I recommend not to own more than two long- or mid-range setups.
Then, join your teammates to shoot at enemies together, preferably from the sides (flanking) or the backs (ambushing) of them. Try to read what are the teammates' and enemies' intentions (hopefully they have some  ), and think of a way helping or disrupting them,

Some great advice already given. My two cents:
• Don’t get a second hangar for a long while - it just adds to the number of gear you need to level up. Leveling gear now takes FOREVER and costs insane amounts of silver. Build a single balanced hangar (1-2 fast bots for beacons, 1-2 brawlers that can dish out damage and 1 medium or long range bot) so you can adapt to each game mode vs having separate hangars for each.
• Don’t waste any silver. Several hundred million Ag may seem like a lot. It’s not.
• Earn as much silver as you can, Gold second. Au May be the most important thing to collect early on, but Ag is the lifeblood of upgrading.
• Choose what you level up very carefully. As others said, focus on weapons that can be gotten at the beginning of the game and used all the way to the top - Orkans and Tarans. After 1.5 years of playing I have about 9 of each and never regretted getting or upgrading any of them.
• There is only one bot most agree that you can get early on and keep using for a long time: Griffins (you can go far with nothing but them). Other bots like your Natty or Leo can hang for a while too, but don’t level them past 9 as stated previously.
• longterm you are safe in collecting components for the dash bots and specter. It will take a while to get them and even longer to level. And they may even be obsolete by the time you do all that, but collect those components anyway. They all use medium hardpoint weapons, so you can swap orkans and Tarans onto them when you outgrow your previous bots.
Most important part - throw all of the above out and do what you want if you find you are not having fun. This game is a marathon that can take 1-2 years to make it to Champ league. Just play, have fun and lurk here for tons of great advice.
