Today I checked my status after playing an hour of War Robots and saw I had gained over 50 trophy cups.
"Fantastic! If I can keep this up I'll soar up into the next league!!"
Then for the next hour the MM pitted me against players with MK II bots and gear and an entire clan that used mostly Hydras. I lost 30 of the 50 cups I gained in the next hour.
Is this normal? Can I expect to have more consistent gains once I level up my bots and weapons? And ... What is the point of even having leagues when the MM has me playing against guys in higer leagues?

yes, completely normal. see T34’s post on MM in the link he gave above, great read (but not short ?). the only question is, do you want to accept that unfair system and deal with it or not ?

For me in Masters 1 on the US Pacific coast the time of day matters a lot. Late afternoon and late night especially it’s really tough, lots of Champions and maxed gear. Early afternoon it’s mostly other Masters and Experts. I usually play late and have been hovering in the middle of Masters 1 for a long time, but since restricting myself to only early afternoon a few days ago I’m now 6 points away from challenging for Champion.

just go with the ups and downs.
if you move up too quickly you'll get beat down and receive very little resources for your troubles.

Don't look at your trophies! It's a sure fire way to get really annoyed with the game! Yeah, there's some wisdom in that. On the other hand it's hard to ignore. Less cups=Less keys=Less Gold chests=No hope of a superchest. |

The super chest pay out has gotten worse last couple of months. I used to do everything I could to get a SC each month. Last month, I was very close to the SC but didn't sweat it. It's not worth the aggravation anymore. What are you going to get? 5k components of something you want, but it's still not enough? Or 5k components you don't want but are now tempted to finish? Or 5k components that gets you closer and tempts you to spend RL money to finish it off and then have to deal with the excruciating expensive and long upgrade times?

Ppplllt, Super Chest. They're a joke now since three updates ago. For the last 5 SCs that I've opened it's been nothing but 5k Kumiho. I hate those goofy looking things.

You have achieved a level of acceptance and serenity I can only aspire to. Part of me feels I need to do this. Just play the game and if I enjoy it - great. Don't worry about things which are out of my control. The other part keeps looking at the cup count. |

Don't worry about things which are out of my control. The other part keeps looking at the cup count. Trust me, I'm nowhere as serene as I sound or appear to me... I'm like Captain Mal from Firefly. Jovial and friendly and easy going on the outside, but underneath, there is a seething anger that can burst out at any moment! It also helps that I'm almost done collecting things that I want. I have almost no interest in the root weapons, so I don't feel a need to get those. I just want a Falcon very badly to take over my spam bot build, and maybe a Raven to take over my Hover's KOTH beacon running duties. After that, I think I'm good and can just continue to play and upgrade my stuff bit by bit. |
