(Is there a way I can direct link to that quote lol?)
Anyway, didn't want to do it over there as it'll go out of proportion.
Plus, this is the rant section, so I hope the admins will not lock this.
So, here's what I've to say:
First of all, hello tenormanmustdie. I disagree you, but let's not have hard feelings.
Just for the fun of debate/ranting.
You gave an example of cheating at cards, so...
One wealthy guy is playing a poker with an average joe
The wealthy guy proclaims he's a straight flush and throws in $10k (when in actual he's no winnable card).
a. He's lying because he doesn't have straight flush
b. He has huge advantage because $10k is not even pocket change to him while to an average joe, $10k means everything
c. He's doing all these to win the game
Putting aside who wins or lose the above game, since the wealthy guy is lying and have unfair advantage (being rich), so is he cheating?
Nope, coz the game allows it. Or it wouldn't be called poker.
But yes, you are cheating if you, for example, secretly switch your cards, which poker doesn't allow (No cards gambling game will ever allow that anyway)
Solution if one disagree with poker game play:
Don't play until poker disallow lying/bluffing/wealth advantage
Relating to War Robots:
Does the game currently allow players to leave - yes, thus leaving is not cheating
Does the game currently allow players to cap only beacons and not do any damage - yes, thus not doing damage is not cheating
Does the game currently allow players to stand idle - yes, thus idling is not cheating
etc.
I fail to understand your conclusion that tanking is cheating by mere re-capping of what the word cheat means.
Anyway, if you've just said yes instead of adding the definition of "cheat" I wouldn't be half as confused and could have happily accepted your view.
I can continue ranting, maybe later
