Not that Pix would ever go for it, but here goes.
Pix's posts about their New MM seem aloof and nondescript, they very well might be stumped as to how they could possibly balance the MM without creating a major backlash of dissent in the player base.
To anyone that hasn't seen my name (as I haven't been as active as I'd like for the past few months), I am the user that produced the MM scale on the MM wiki page using the one and only time we were able to get any hard information about the MM.
Currently the MM operates in a way that has bot's scored by weight class, and special modifiers from britbots and Wsp bots are applied to the same % based modifier that player performance is. This means using brit bots or Wsp bots at ANY level will severely penalize your MM placement, even if the bot is not up to par with the rest of your hangar.
My suggestion would be to change how the bots are categorized, as in, instead of MM using the scores defined for light/medium/heavy, they use the exact same scoring system for Ag/Au/Wsp instead.
The biggest issue with the game balance lies in the limitations of what can be used where, and bots that never see the light of day are often the result of such.
The stipulation for Au bots to have a higher rating than Ag bots outright would be that the Gep, Rog, and Fury Start at Max speed (as they originally did)
Granted that this would mean bots of all weight classes would be weighted equally among their currency type, t would eccentuate the differences of how each weight class should be used (imho).
Heavies(ag/au) start at level 6, keeping them out of the lower brackets.
Au bots will have the same placement as medium bots have now, meaning a 4/12 Gep can run into a 10/10 griffin (which has the same rating as any other Ag bot)
Wsp bots will have the same placement as heavies currently do, meaning low level ones may appear in bronze, but having any substantial firepower mmeans silver+.
Au bots will still have their out of the box advantage (as their stats at lv 1 are that of lvs 7-9 of their average Ag counterpart), and they will definitively be locked out of newbie territory at any substantial level(current t2)
Wsp bots will still be kept far and away from newbies.
The battle modifier can be reserved specifically for battle stats.
Overall it would reduce a lot of confusions concerning the MM.
