In my hanger I have 2 Galaheads, both plasma equipped. Unfortunately I usually lose against rocket equipped Gareth and Galaheads so I am thinking about putting Orkans on.
I would like, however, to hear your opinions first

Plasma has slightly more range than rockets. Pull back when you see Gals with pinatas and orkans. Do you already have orkans? If not, join the test server and try that and other builds before investing anything. Being all the same level (bots and weps) gives you a chance to do a better comparison.

How are you with a Death Button Rhino or Griffin? If you don't have either if these sections, I'd get 1 of them instead of converting your Galahad to deal splash.
The max damage a splash Gal has is not sufficient to kill any heavy bot in 10-15 seconds, but the Plasmahad can kill all unshielded heavies in the same time and even the short range splash shielded heavies if run right. It doesn't seem like a good deal to convert a known killer to a half-azzed splash setup.
If you are having problems with splash Gareths and splash Gals, then either fightbthrm at 305-350m range or just redeploy to fight another target.
We can't all find optimal 1-vs-1 matchups, but I'd pass splash Gary/Gals if I was in my Plasmahad unless this it was must stand and fight situation.

I really enjoy plasmahads. Really a distants fighter keeping in that little 300-350m window.
Keeping heat on db setups will eventually break them or let someone else intervene. Vs other shields i can usually break through eventually.
Garath i have an orkan and aphid on as it is much more a hit and run fighter. I don't expect it to take out a bot in a single engagement.

I used to run two Plasmahads and spawned one as a beacon runner. Problem is that most other players spawn either splash or shielded bots to start off, so that I would often have a standoff with another Galahad, Gareth or Stalker. I'm currently using Orkan/Aphid on one Galahad this is my first robot, and have Plasma on the other that I spawn if I encounter Anciles. So far this works decently.

Plasma is the better setup on the Galahad.

Plasmahad and Right-Hand Smack Galahad (Orkan + Pinatas) are mainstays in my hangar. When shooting plasma, it's easy to put all rounds on-target. Getting good with rockets takes practice, but IMHO it's worth the effort. Learning how to lead a moving target with rockets is an art, one I"m still working on but getting better at by the fight. Start by ambushing a stationary target or flanking a red who's focused on another blue to practice aiming the rockets.
My RH Smack is 9/9, and it deals some damage when I get it right. If I'm off by a bit, splash usually takes its toll. With the swarms of shielded bots on the battlefield, this is a great bot to have ready & waiting.

Both are good. Try it out and settle on the one that fits your play style.

I really like my mag/ork galahad. There's enough shield bots around that this mix is useful. Doesn't have the sustained fire so you'll want to find some cover after the orks fire.

Plasma is usually the better option as it has higher dps and better range. The plasma also works well with the Galahad speed to avoid Orkans while dealing damage back at 150m+ with Galahad shield to the side.
The advantage of the Orkan Galahad is that most players expect a Galahad to be Plasma and you may be able to catch them off-guard and deal significant damage before they are able to retaliate. Also can be a fun change of pace as many top tier players have both weapon sets.
Some squads like to run 1 plasma Galahad alongside 1 Orkan Galahad which makes for a fast and deadly combo when the players work together well.

I prefer the term Pimp Hand Galahad (Orkan/pinata). I run both of my Galahads with plasma, they're more versatile and can really rack up damage. The main use case for Pimp Hand Galahad seems to be to match up well against plasma Galahads. When I'm in my plasma Galahad, possibly the thing I least enjoy seeing is a P-H Gal.

Depends on how you play your bots, plasma if you like to turn and burn or rockets if you like hit and run. I run a very splash heavy hanger so I would be biased towards orks. I run orkan/pinata or aphid on my gareth and use it for hit and runs on beacons. The burst damage is enough to take the heat off teamates or lead the enemy out or even kill them if they are low enough or a stalker lol. I encounter so many shield bots I don't have a huge use for plasma.

For whatever reason in my matches I see A LOT of Griffins. Makes me prefer plasma on Galahads - antiaircraft fire. Shooting them in the air is (for me, anyway) one of the most enjoyable bits of the game.
