So there seems to be different experiences with the new MM for pilots. Some are having good matches, some are having bad matches. Info has been compiled and tossed out there regarding how MM may be working. It would appear as if we are looking at a damage based system, and who knows what else.
This is not a rant. I am presenting you my specific situation, and attempting to find a way to improve upon it.
Im not one of the ones having good matches, quite the opposite. I have seen all of my stats and earnings tank. Silver return is low, but gold earned during the game is really bad. Now we know one has a 50/50 chance of win or lose. The problem I am having is that MM is artificially pushing me to 50/50. Normally, I would be at 60ish to 70ish percent win rate. Couple of beacons, at least a couple gold, and a few kills were common. Now Im a solid 50-55% win. I constantly face enemies of reasonably higher levels. Im playing 7/9 right now. MM is basically forcing me to play heavies if I want to be even competitive. I cannot pilot lights or meds any more cause its just a rapid slaughter. The Boa and Galahad are the only meds that can take anything. I used to use lights for daily task capping, but they kinda melt upon spawn now. I did have a match tonight with 5 kills, ~750,000 damage, and 3 beacons (3 Griffs, 2 Leos). The player below me had 3 kills, ~450,000 damage, and 2 beacons. We lost. It made me think back, a ton of my team mates over the past few days are not capping at all. They dont protect beacons, they dont turn them. Not all of course, but way too many. Also, I was the only one with a 5 slot hangar on my team - really want a 6th now - lol, well not so much. Sometimes it almost isnt worth it to cap, as they get lost, even when you recap them 1 or 2 additional times.
So I guess the thing that sucks the most is that Griffins and Leos are getting real boring. I have always liked med bots, and I liked the variety of bots in high silver. I worry about PIX changing things, which is par for the course. If I do something today, does it nail me in update 2.7? Even 2.6?
So, what I am looking at in the end is this:
- should I bring my lvl7 heavies up to 8, or up to 9 (weapons are primarily 9, but have some 8s)?
- what do I do about playing meds? Do I level them up to 9 also? They just dont have enough health in my case at 7, but dont know if that will help, make things worse. Hurt me down the line, etc. My biggest concern is obviously impacts to WSP and Gold bots. Their handicap is gone, but who says it wont come back.
Right now Im just doing my daily tasks, and ending play after that. The time spent after that just isnt worth it (time, fun, return).
Thanks for the help

Just to share my experience, the last 2-3 days I've been playing on "berserk mode", charge forward pretty mindlessly in every game.
Cap a beacon, choose a target, kill or be killed. Not tanking, I still unleash damage as much as I can while charging. I even charging with my tri/pin leo lol.
My win rate dropped to 34% the lowest and somehow, it rises up again to 46% yesterday. (Win some lose some along the way.) All these when I'm on berserk mode.
So I tend to agree abt MM of artificially pushing/dropping the win rate.

I am/was in the same situation as you and leveling the bots up really helped. My bots are now level 8 and 9 and my weapons range from 9 to 10. It seems the closer I get to level 10, the easier things become.
I also changed my playstyle and hangar. Previously, I simply set out to do as much damage as possible while also capping beacons. This used to work well because it guaranteed high silver rewards, a 75% chance of victory, and a good chance of getting gold. In the new MM this strategy will match you against progressively harder opponents until you are faced with nonstop 12/12 clans TT Furying your 「bum-bum」 into oblivion. My new playstyle focuses on working with teammates to grab and hold beacons but not outright damage. I started prioritizing faster, more mobile, bots so that I can assault and hold beacons. This includes using 3 mediums: the carnage, galahad, and rogatka.
I hope this helps!

This is my iOS hangar. It's pretty close in level to what you've described. The Cossack gets me 1-3 captures, and 0-2 kills (mostly targets of opportunity and concentrating fire). The Carnage gets me 1-2 caps, and 0-3 kills (yes, really). The Griffin is a splash damage ambusher and helps me retake beacons, and occasionally anti-spawn-raid defense. The Golem is a Frankenstein to troll with. The Leo is my cleanup/revenge role. I don't get bored, but I will admit to plenty of frustration, mostly from idiot teammates or horrible equipment disparities. Same old story there tho. Hope this helps...

I do run 6/6 light/med hangar with Stalker, Vityaz and Golems. Somehow at this level the game is still a lot of fun, maybe +2 bot/weapon reds but not too bad. Win % hovers around 60%. When blue lose it'd due to tankers or just plain stupidity (Beacons? What beacons?).
There was a short period where I faced TT reds where things go boom...splat when the new MM first appeared but that ended a long time ago.
Frankly I do not want to level up my hangar now due to the horror stories of 7/9 hangars I read in these forums. Maybe playing 6/6 hangar is the sweet spot.

With the exception of a few matches where I was pitted against more superior forces, I'd say the games have been pretty spot on in terms of difficulty level. I suspect this is the case for people with higher hangars.
What I dislike is tediousness of always playing slow bots because, as you said, lights just don't last and I still need 300m Ag to bring weps from 11 to 12. LOL. I do try to mix and match bots and wep configs but my fastest bot's a Galahad.
I don't think you have much of a choice but to level up your bots (esp the meds) to your weapons' level.
Was saving up for a Lance but I may hold out for the new Killer Kangaroo instead.

I definitely recommend OP you level your 7/9 to 9/9 and then 10/10, etc

If you are worried about bot nerfs or penalties, just focus on upgrading weapons that can be swapped back to lights and mediums.
I agree 100% that griff and leo are incredibly boring to pilot. I prefer the quicker and more dynamic matches of the old Silver Tier.

I prefer the quicker and more dynamic matches of the old Silver Tier. Grif is half bad, but when piloting leo, I'm half-asleep in half-way to where the action is... :/ Seems it's not a true leo (lion). More like less-than-a-half leo....acts as a genetic abomination with more sloth dna than lion's. I guess that's all just half-truth...ending in having only half fun from the play.

I run a 8/8 bot/weapon Hangar and every battle is tough... and fun. I haven't seen a zenit/noricum natasha in ages... everyone comes to play hard and everyone is experienced and capable. They are hard tough challenging and fun games. And they have a wide variety of light, med, and heavy bots. For lights: go with a gareth, stalker, or gepard. All three platforms can work in high gold. I see them all the time. 1 or 2 at the most For med: go with carnage, galahads, and pattons. All three platforms work and you can have up to 3 in your Hangar For heavies: go with the griffin. The jump is your speed. 1 or 2 at the most This will give you a fairly mobile, fast Hangar against the standard gold Hangar and you'll be able to hang in there. Will you have a 70% win rate... can't guarantee that as the best I've seen is 60% for myself, but you won't be handicapped and you'll still be fairly mobile. And by all means level those heavies and mediums to 9. They need the speed boost more than the lights (and the percentage gain is a lot per upgrade). You'll see a difference between a 32 kmph and a 35 kmph Griffin. Dejnov. P.S. I'm sure the lights start dropping out in TT, but you're not there and shouldn't worry about it. As that can be a year away.

Too many drop ins from above, and very unlikely to see anything under level 6 heavies. So pushing up your heavy bot and weapon levels is the thing to do in that spot.

Also, there are no tiers anymore.
