Ended up starting a new account and 6 hours later, I am about to hit lvl 18.
Strikes me as way too easy a climb to player lvl 30. It took me about 3 weeks to get there with my first account. I see lvl 30 players who still don't seem to have a clue... myself included on occasion. I do remember the "can't wait to get to lvl 30, so I can play in the big leagues," feeling. Problem is, I got there and kept being kicked in my 4th point of contact until I actually figured out how to survive. That took a lot longer than 3 weeks. It was a whole lot of, we'll *@#&!!*, that didn't work moments that I think would have been better to learn at a lower level.
Pix should slap "Student Driver" stickers on newly purchased bots ... and in some folks cases, *coughclubbercough* "Baby On Board."

I agree it's pretty fast to level up. I think it's a good incentive for new players to feel like they're progressing in the game though

Leveling up is fast until you reach level 20. Then it becomes a bit slower.

My second account hit 27 without a whole lot of upgrading of anything. Leveling up is too fast imo if you're gonna get thrown to the wolves once you hit 30

I thought current wisdom (new mm) was to keep bots leveled with weapons and balanced across entire hanger? And get your fifth slot!

It probably took longer to fully unlock the workshop than to get to lv30.

And get your fifth slot! The new matchmaking system is based off win percentage and average damage done per game. It has nothing to do with what level your weapons or robots are.

True, but that given, the reason for keeping weapons 2 levels above bots is now moot. (where before that would keep you within certain tiers). Having more hit points and speed seems to be every bit as important as having more powerful weapons. With the added bonus that it takes less time and silver to upgrade a single bot than to upgrade 3+ weapons.

I advise players to keep their weapons two levels above their robots because say if I were upgrading a Golem Thunder/Taran/Magnum, I would be wasting my silver on a useless bot. However, I can still switch those weapons onto other robots and you won't be at a total loss

However, I can still switch those weapons onto other robots and you won't be at a total loss There is no longer a MM penalty for over leveled bots. That was the reason for the weapons leveled higher than bots rule. With the same firepower, being in a bot with more health and more speed means you will live longer, be more effective and do more damage.

Before I lost my account I had lvl 8/9 bots and lvl 11/12 weapons. Was doing quite well. Would often get thrown into unwinnable matches, but was consistently in the top 3... great position to be in during the liner event. I'd rather be able to do more damage. 5000 health points amounts to living 3 seconds longer...just long enough to watch your outbound fire disappear before it hits.

I can understand this viewpoint (it is the same viewpoint I didn't have when I ended up with 4 thunders levelled to 8 and no plan to bring more than 2 into top tier). If you are not planning to keep the bot at a higher level then don't invest too much in it. More hitpoints (and SPEED) with equal firepower means that you can last longer and get out of danger more quickly. Given the ease to upgrade a couple of levels of bot compared to weapons I think it becomes more valuable. My current hanger is mostly 8/9. I am leveling bots to 9 then will be leveling weapons to 10. (weapons levelled first but remaining even). If the weapon is usable all the way up and if the bot is usable all the way up then level them evenly.

Level is irrelevant beyond a being a gate for weapons and bots in the old mm days. Not really sure of its function these days.

The goal of having a maxed hangar never ends, the variations are ever-changing. Until you have everything it will never end. Particularly when upgrades cost 10 or more million silver.
Right now unless you paid $$ you don't even have everything there is to have. Butch cost well over $100 not once but twice... right now outlook is not good on these bots selling for game currency before they do it again with more premium bots. They'll have them ready...

I'm hoping to get this thread jump started. I would like to hear some other pilots opinions. My hanger is almost completely level at 6, and I am wondering if I should start with the weapons or bots. I liked what the pilot said about a stonger, faster bot will fight better and live longer, therefore dealing out more damage. So, Im almost convinced but would still like to hear what some of you other pilots think. Thanks

A stronger bot will last a little longer with less damage per second, stronger weapons will put out more DPS but die faster. In practice, survivability comes down more to matchups than bot health. For example Rocket vs physical shield & Plasma vs energy shield. Bots at level 9 achieve maximum speed. Speed will help you get into favorable matchups and out of unfavorable ones. It will also help you get behind cover faster.

I figure if I'm going to fight higher level reds, I need the extra punch. I want enough to knock them down because I might not get a second shot. 10k extra health doesn't go very far when multiple missles hit.

I like the new League System. Everyone can benefit from it unlike before with power hour and best pilot.

I know Power Hour was probably fun but it didn't benefit everyone which is not ideal

I am upgrading bots for knifers & Galahad & weapons. For flankers & mid-range I will do weapons 1st and see. I would look at each bot & its use. If the bot is hanging back then definitely the weapons first. My .02

Yeah, it's slow, but I get there... and hopefully the upgraded weapons don't fall off with the first hit.

I agree with the OP's suggestion of labelling new weapons and bots.
I don't wanna lose any more cups from back-pedalling Thunder Leo's.

I love my Gareth and Gepard, but with my left hand wrapped up like a mummy, I just can't drive them. Not a lot of ducking and dodging going on. It's sad, wife bought me a tablet and it's easier right now to play on my phone.
