I guess this would probably the right area to start a thread about what screen recorder apps everyone uses? I did a search and didn't find any on this.
What apps work best for screen recording on Android and iOS?
Any lag noticed while recording?
Ads? Extras? Free?.
I mainly use AZ Screen Recorder Free. It seems to work great and the float icon disappears while recording. The free version doesn't allow any editing but it is ad free and gets the job done.
I also have Mobizen which leaves the recording timer icon on the side where you choose. Tons of ads on it but you can do some trimming and editing on the free version before uploading.
I'm not sure if one or the other creates more noticeable lag effects or uses more power creating more heat leading to device performance issues.
I do know that the Mobizen app, when used on my cheap Android tablet, will say that it is shutting down unused apps to create enough available RAM. Un sure about AZ because I've only used it on my phone where Mobizen never has done that either.

iOS best screen recorders are Reflector and X Mirage.

I use Mobizen because you can record a game in silence, I also play muted because I watch my little one during the day and also so My old lady doesn't get more pissed at me than usual, lol Also you can adjust it so there is nothing on the screen when recording.

On Android I just use the recorder in Google play. Just click on Google play, click "my games" and click on a game. If your phone supports it there will be a record button there.
My phone is cheap (Alcatel Fierce 4) so even though it has a HD option I can only record in standard definition and notice a bit of lag doing it.
The biggest drawback to the app is it always has the stupid record emblem on the screen and you cannot pause and resume recording.
Edit: it also records your voice even if you turn the stupid thing off. If you saw my vids of me running a silver only hanger you can here me swear at the game.

I use Mobizen because you can record a game in silence Hmm.. I don't know why I don't mute mine since I usually end up just taking the audio out anyway. Guess it's nice to have it though......does it make it perform better if it doesn't need to be storing audio also? I looked in the AZ Screen Recorder settings and found all sorts of goodies. It does have a mic off option. Mostly, I changed the encoder option to default which it says doesn't support pause but is more stable. Going to give that a try. |

Oh yea that google play icon is kind of annoying from the looks of it on your videos. Is that a float icon or is it stuck right there at all times?

At the bottom of the screen it gets in the way of bot selection. Top right you can't eject and get a new bot. So I put it there |

Here is an example of Mobizen, I recorded this today, it would be cool to do a side by side comparison with AZ, because Mobizen does have a few minor bugs

For iOS with macOS I just use the built in QuickTime Player. With the phone connected select File > New Movie Recording. A window appears and in the drop down menu next to the record button select the phone. A problem I have is setting the audio to the phone doesn't work. Instead I have to select line-in and connect an audio cable too. That still doesn't work, I then have to unplug and replug the audio cable to finally get audio coming in. My mac and macOS are old so maybe that's the problem. A nice trick is to make the window full screen then zoom in with Command-Option-'+'. This gives a scope view when sniping  There is about a 1/2 second delay in what macOS shows. |
