How, how, HOW can there be so many level 30 players that have NO CLUE about how to play this game, beyond pointing their weapons at the other robots and pressing the red button?
Examples: 1. Stand for the whole match shooting across the riverbed in Springfield until 2 minutes before the timer runs out suddenly waking up "Oh, maybe we should take a beacon" 2. Bot after bot on Yama - spawn, march doggedly straight toward center shooting along the way - get fried by the reds defending - spawn again - repeat. 3. All stick together in a clump defending one beacon while the reds take the other 4. 4. etc...
When MM isn't giving me games vs maxed hangars, this seems to be my fare lately. Lots of these players are even in clans. <bangs head into desk repeatedly>

I think this is part of the new MM's "strategy" to frustrate players into buying gear, to give them very lousy teammates.
1) Yeah, that sucks. For what it's worth, taking beacons in Springfield is very difficult for folks with all-knife-fighter hangars.
2) Uh... I must confess that I often play Yama this way. Sorry! SickMyDuckster has been lecturing me on charging headlong into a bunch of Reds. I have a tendency to get overaggressive when we're down a beacon. Bad habit from when that always worked so well with a TT Boa back with my 4/6 hangar.
3) Yeah, I dunno. Morons.
You can try squadding with us more often, but... uh... I guess that won't help you too much on 2 if you squad with me.

Dude, you been stalking me again? I told you I have a restraining order... Nah, all jokes aside.. Before I found this forum bro, I was a level 30 dip「dookie」... With my bots and weapons all upgraded helter skelter crazy... I played the game the only way I could think of. How I played Quake Thunderwalker CTF 15 yrs ago. I at least had the "get the beacons" first and foremost idea down. But I was clueless. Thanks to this forum and some awesome folks I've met cuz of it, I've started over with new bots.. Benched my level 11 Golem and a few others til I'm skill worthy of having it... Learned a lot. Thx forum and forum members... *wink *kisses *rainbows *unicorns *puffy heart stickers *hugs

Yes, crossing the river in Springfield can be hard, but when there's one red defending D and there are 3 blues standing on the other side shooting while the reds advance to reinforce is just stupid. Instead, they could have taken the beacon while there was only one red, then WE would have been defending the beacon. 2. Sorry, didn't mean it to be personal fwiw, I wouldn't consider you an idiot. Yeah, I sort of was thinking last night that I don't know if I can play this game solo anymore with the state of MM. Too frustrating.

I was trying to lighten the mood is all. Benefit of voice squadding with clan is that you can actually remind their teammates when I'm doing... er... they're doing something (or about to do something) idiotic. Sorry that MM has been sucking so badly for you. I hope that newfangled leagues thing is all that they make it out to be.

Oh, okay. Those scratch n sniff stickers are pretty awesome.
Yeah, I love being able to play in playgrounds and climbing structures with my son and not have people stare at me like I'm some kind of creep (weirdo, I can take, as being weird is actually a point of pride here in Austin -- Keep Austin Weird" as they say).

Thanks! Been here 5 years or so. With the kids, we haven't had much time to check out the music scene much, alas. I usually try to catch a little bit of the free stuff going on during SXSW, though. I also play the keys and I'm also learning the drums and a little bass guitar, but this game has definitely put a big crimp on practice time, I must confess.
Haven't listened to the Butthole Surfers, but I've definitely heard of them. I tend to listen mostly to prog rock, country, psytrance, piano blues, folk pop... a pretty eclectic mix, I know.

It's not just War Robots. I'm surrounded by idiots in real life just as much as in games. And don't get me started on the idiots in Overwatch either, they're in all games. The greatest paradox of my life: where the 「fluffernutter」 are all these idiots coming from? I've been working in a variety of tech support call centers for the last 25 years. By now I'm sure I've answered millions of customer calls. There's a negative bias, to be sure, since nobody calls tech support to say that everything is working as it should. Even so, more than 85% of the people I've talked to are either cripplingly ignorant (which can be fixed) or just plain incompetent. I don't get it. I'll admit I live in a very progressive region (Seattle, WA), but I do NOT encounter the same rate of idiocy in my real life encounters. I'd say 20% of the people I meet and get to know in person are idiots. Where are all these stupid 「fluffernutter」ers coming from? I blame Florida

Bot after bot on Yama - spawn, march doggedly straight toward center shooting along the way - get fried by the reds defending - spawn again - repeat. Oh crap! Maybe that was me after I'd had a few. Apologies to my teammates but I can't promise it won't happen again. Sometimes all I want to do is see explosions... best thing you can do when that happens is try to keep up.

I mean I see some bots head off to the flanks to take a ski vacation, but I have found the only real decision at Yama is whether to go up the ramp, or under the ramp. Are there more options (semi serious question here)?

You can wait for your teammates to coordinate a charge together rather than charge single-handedly. It's kinda like Shenzen. Charging center by yourself is a recipe for a quick death. If you see someone else charging, you may want to join them.
And if there are reds positioned to attack blues going up the ramp, you can take those out first.

Are there more options (semi serious question here)? This is just fresh in my mind because it happened to me in a match last night - multiple teammates kept marching alone to center, dying repeatedly, and meched out early, reducing it fairly quickly to a 6-4 match. Once that happens, it's all over. There are others with a lot more experience than me, but here's my perspective. On Yama, if the enemy is holding center with multiple bots, marching up to it alone is just asking for repeated quick death. It requires a coordinated attack from various angles to kill off all the reds that are either camped at the beacon or along the sides. EDIT: [AurN] perfectlyGoodInk beat me to it - what he said

I struggle daily with my own elitism, sometimes it really sucks being one of the 'smart' ones. As much as I hate elitists, I've been forced to conclude that I really am smarter than the average bear- I mean, human.

EDIT: [AurN] perfectlyGoodInk beat me to it - what he said That's the general idea, have a coordinated attack. But what usually happens when playing solo is I watch our health bar continue to drop while red lounges at the center beacon. In desperation and in an attempt to goad teammates out of our spawn, I charge. We'll lose anyway if the beacon stays red, and sometimes...sometimes I actually get company--or watch my team of randoms finally get the nerve to charge together after my inglorious sacrifice. All too often though, I die quickly without even the benefit of cover fire, watching in disbelief as my team blazes away continuously at red players at their spawn or other completely nonthreatening positions... sigh...

There are that many idiots. Sometimes they frustrate you but in a case of Springfield I just finished not too long ago, I can't deny I love them, for they were the opponent team lol.
Both teams spawned on the 2 beacon side. I was dancing around (yep moving left and right that made my rhino like he was tap dancing) My team mate shot at me, obviously telling me to quit fooling or fark off lol.
Well, I was semi fooling but was actually figuring which direction to approach depending on the opponents spread. Plus I hate Springfield, not having the enthusiasm to play that map hahahaha
Then I saw 11 out of 12 players are on the 2 beacon side with only 1 red stalker happily capping 3 beacon the other side. I Strolled my rhino (not even charging) to the other side, because I really hate Springfield that much.
But the stalker had to come shoot at me. That made me charged at him. I advanced, he retreated until I captured a beacon. I stayed there, the stalker stayed there both of us doing nothing, just waiting to take out each other.
Then after a few seconds, the stalker decided to ditch it and respawn...just like that. Bad move, by doing that my rhino is now free to move around. If he stayed there, I couldn't leave, they had 3 beacons, we had 2.
So I happily went on to cap another 2 beacons and by that time, it was certain my team will win. My team mates noticed and went on to maintain our beacon lead, goes on to win the game.
The match was evenly distributed with 12/12 on both sides. My damage? Only 70k hahahaha but did get the 5 au beacon reward.
The hero? Ain't me, it was my team mates and noob opponents.
Ofc, when too many idiots are on my side, I just do tap dancing with my bots to kill time. And do some damage when the reds does come (usually just before game ends). That's better than ditching the game, no?

Guilty of number 2 way more times than I should be. Although it pisses me off more when I move in with a small group to take the beacon, and end up being the only one left at the top. At least when I charge up on my own, I know this bot is going to be a scraficial lamb.
