Become a Bacon-ator man! The answer is right there in your question. Bacons get gold...let the other keep doing their thing you get the beacons.
When I ran Cossacks I kept the bacons for my team. We won a lot because we owned the weardown bar by owning more beacons longer...

Prior to the MM change, I had a standing rule that if I wasn't actively getting the beacons, then to just assume that no one was. So I set up my hangar accordingly. Of course, it was easier back then as you could run a stable of lights and mediums that was both relatively quick and combat effective.
Since the change, I had to bring out the heavies and didn't have the specialized beacon grabbers that can survive in that kind of environment. However, the event coins granted me Jesse, Gareth and a Stalker so I've got some decisions to make about moving back into a more beacon-focused game.

Hard to run beacons when every damn bot on both red and blue are trident furies. I hope there are changes soon. I liked this game, but right now it's not worth playing.

I just got done running an all light hangar to get a daily beacon task completed, took me 4 damn tries because EVERYONE was going for beacons. Any other time, I have the same problem you do.

People were already playing for damage points to grind Ag before the MM change. Now more so because it's harder to get Ag.
Edit: It sucks when half the team on both sides are not playing to win but are there to collect the lunar coins and to subtly tank their stats with lackluster play.

I've got both a gareth and a stalker and both can be very effective beacon runners. However, they can also be melted fairly quickly when trapped. I tend to take chances to grab beacons and long range weps are especially deadly, because of your comparatively low hp. They are fun though, particularly if you like to test your skills running the gauntlet. I like to start with my stalker and quickly claim 1, maybe 2 beacons, then add my pair of guns to a heavy blue. I try to save my gareth until the end of the game when the field thins out to snag beacons as well.

What I tend to find is no matter how big a beacon advantage I create, the minute I mech out (from being the guy trying to get the beacons) we immediately loose all of them. Time and time and time again. When driving I have a rule that everyone else on the road is an incompetent idiot that wants to kill me. Seems true in war robots too.

I try to courteously allow others to clear the spawn point first because I often use a heavy slow bot. What kicks me in the @$$ is watching everyone not go for the bacon. So I do because as we all know the bacon makes the sammich. So off I go. My Natasha's slow but that delicious sammich is almost mine. The anticipation has been a strain and finally, there it is. Just a few short steps away. But what's this sh^t? Noooo!! Frackt@rd, motherfracker, son of a beach!! Yeah, I REALLY wanted to waste 2 whole minutes walking towards what you should have been going after in the first place so our side might win. Thank you so very much @$$ drippings!
Now I don't bother going after the bacon while riding a slow'bot anymore unless it's very close. If the rest of my team doesn't have 2 working brain cells between all of them then I'm just going out to try and kill something as fast as I can and get killed off as fast while doing it. Screw the win. Sometimes I get lucky and get to play with people who recognize that teamwork might actually work and the sammich is all the more delicious for all the bacon on it. Mmmm-mmm!
For all the frackt@rds out there who recognize that they are who I'm describing be very glad there is no friendly fire feature in the game 'cause I'd so enjoy killing you off more than the reds would and I'd laugh and laugh and laugh some more. Oh man, that IS cathartic. But I also meant every word. There actually should be an ingame option to blue on blue. So you could get at least a shot at the runny 't@rds ruining your fun.

Can't tell you how many times I finish a beacon run and respawn after holding one that I see 5 red beacons with 4 blues firing at a lone red near our own spawn. Blues that never left our spawn. And you would think, that between the 5 other players on your team, that at least some of them might have the whit to defend the home beacon...

then u shouldnt aim for beacons When I'm the only one capping beacons, then my team loses for certain if the other blues won't even hold them. Can't win without beacons.

LOL. You get the bacon, I'll get the eggs. Who's making the coffee & doughnut run. america runs on bacons. Bavaria runs in beer. But bacon don't hurt, either.

Bavaria runs in beer. But bacon don't hurt, either. Bavaria is a state in southeastern Germany bordering Liechtenstein, Austria and the Czech Republic. State capital Munich is known for its annual Oktoberfest beer festival, art museums and ornate Nymphenburg Palace. The Romantic Road scenic route starts in northwestern Würzburg, winds south through pastoral villages and medieval towns and culminates in the foothills of the Alps near Germany’s southern border.

How do you get to the point that sone of these players are at, with their fancy bots, and yet STILL not get how you actually WIN?!!!? Rant / Just finished with a match just as you described. Even the players on the opposing team did this. I managed this in a frigging assault bot, a Rhino. I wasn't even shot at until I got to my last beacon. And even then I wasn't hit. This was the canyon map. I walked out to the right hand beacon first. Started a flanking maneuver and chopped up 1 bot. That's when I noticed my "team" only had the beacon I had just captured. Looked around and my "team" were all converging on the enemy spawn point. So I turned for the center beacon. Got it and didn't even get shot at. Looked aroud. Hell, the beacon at our own spawn point hadn't even been taken. ? And there's a bot standing just a few strides from it just sniping the opposing team?? 「whiskey tango foxtrot」 So I drag my Rhino from the middle beacon back the way I came and went for it. Not once did the f^c%tard standing there sniping move their bot. I got the home beacon and again never got shot at. Looked around again. I'm now holding 3 beacons(I say me because, well hell isn't it obvious at this point?). And there on the far left not far from the enemy spawn point is an untaken beacon. What the h-ll, might as well go for it, right? Meanwhile the melee between my team and our opponents is going toe to toe at the opposing side of the center bridge and everyone is completely ignoring any of the beacons except that one closest to that end. The enemy is holding that one pretty well. Never lost it. I just watch bots drop like flies in an insecticide cloud the whole time I' m making my slow 「bum-bum」 way to that far left beacon. Ta-da!! And noone shot at me the whole time. So I lumber my Rhino to the center of that short bridge and let fly at the enemy flank. Drop 2 more in quick succession, heavy undamaged bots at that. Mind I'm carrying all upgraded to 6 energy weapons, doesn't take long. And still didn't get hit once. Match ended before I could line up my next target. Ended the match without a single scratch. That's NEVER happened in any of my previous matches. This was definitely a fluke of some sort. No way will this EVER occur for me again. Usually everyone spreads out and at least 2 beacons get taken by each team. And not being shot at at all during a match, while in a slow 「bum-bum」 heavy?? Come on, who doesn't get at least a scratch on their paint even if it's just from stray shots? I would never have thought it possible, not unless the player deliberately hid themselves the entire match and I did not. Usually I get tore up pretty quickly once it get to 800m or less because I have a hard time turning and shooting at closer ranges. The buttons are positioned wrong for me to hold my pad and thumb the controls(wish there was an option to put those where you want in the settings). I wish there was a statistic showing which bots and how much repair was needed on this screen. All this shows is the number of beacon I managed to take. I truly wish I knew how to make a vid while playing because ya'll probably won't even believe this happened. Because it was definitely weird.

I actually have the oposite problem. The last couple games ive played, my teammates were all running beacon cappers, and i was running my normal gold hangar (currently 1 x DB Griffin, 2x Plasma galahad, 1x taran Ancilot, 1x TT Fury), and game after game my teammates would mech out too quickly because they were running all lightweights. I'd end up with at least double the damage of my 2nd man on my team, but come on, theres only so many bots 1 person can kill, especially when it feels like youre running on a team bot-bar instead of a beacon bar!

In one of the game in dead city, blue is having 2-3 beacons. Robots coming all ove to fight for E in the middle. Funny thing is, red griffin and another bot (i forgot) is standing next to fujin at the crater hill, aiming at some blue bots across. Nobody moves to middle and grab the beacon. I came, I look, I confuse. Then I decided to jump with cossack and grab it.
Nobody fires at me. (Eventough they could easily kill me with one salvo)
And I jumped out.
I still confused that so many people didn't realise you need beacons to win
