So I'm sitting on almost 8K gold and 32k in WSP. Yet I can't can't seem to pull the trigger on a purchase. I've been thinking that a sniper fury would be nice, but then I won't get all the fun that goes with the brawlers. So I guess the questions are What do I do here? Is a Lancelot really worth the 5k gold? Will the protolot be a silver, gold or WSP weapon? Here's what I have at the moment. Any feedback is welcome.  |

Personally, the Galahad is what I'd do. And did. There's quite a few places that will say that it's the best overall gold purchase.
Maybe then you can see if you want to go up to the Lance later while still saving gold for the proto if it's needed.

How far can I push the Gallahad to stay in the same tier? I don't know for sure what the gold bot penalty is.

Plasma Galahad would be my suggestion. Swap it in instead of the Leo. You think keep the Boa rather than the Leo? To my mind the Leo is basically an upgraded Boa. It's about the same to pilot. |

Or you can replace the Boa with a Taran Thunder Lance. I have an Orkan Thunder Lance and I absolutely love it in close range brawling.
And you probably need more rockets, so 2x Orkans more to make it 4 in total.

I have a fondness for the Boa. It's easy to deal with. It's actually a good Rhino killer if I can pop out in front of a Rhino and get to it to and climb up on top of it before I get unloaded on. It's also the oldest bot in my hanger so there's a lot of familiarity with it too I guess.

With 8k I'd drop the 2500 on a Galahad. It really is worth the gold in the game relatively speaking.
I have 2. I was so impressed after the first one a second one was easy money.
The gold penalty should give you a further nudge up further into gold tier, but that hangar looks like it could handle it, and you're already incurring the wsp penalty.

Someone who has the knowledge of how the tiers work should get together with someone and make an app/spreadsheet/webapp where you could plugin your bots and have it fee back where you are (or would be) at certain levels. It wold be a great help in planning. I'm told that I'm in low gold. I'm guessing that's correct because I figure almost everyone knows more about MM than I do.

Well if you follow a few typical rule of thumb, no matter which tier you end up to you'll be fine. Some I can think of: 1. Keep all bots in hangar similar in terms of bot level and average weapon level. 2. Keep weapons 2 levels above bots. 3. Don't leave 1 heavier bot sticking out of your hangar like a sore thumb. Example: don't get 4 lights and 1 med, or 4 mediums and 1 heavy. Typically maximum you can go for is 3 heavier bots and 2 lighter bot. Personally I go all 5 bots of the same "weight" Follow these rules and you can typically survive in any tier. P/s: of course this assuming you are equipping viable bot setups, ie no useless setups.  |

I have been running 3 heavies and 2 mediums for a while now. The stalker has always appealed to me because of the cloak and how they have been a pain in my butt since I first ran into one.
I'm somewhat familiar with the wiki, but there's a lot of information to sift through and since the game evolves and changes it isn't always 100 percent meaningful. I try and be common sense about stuff.
Anyhow I have a L3 Galahad now. I replace my Leo, put on two of the L8 magnums it had and pulled a L9 Taran out of the shed. I'll keep upgrading it to L7. So far it's been great. Even at L2 it was hanging in the matches pretty well. Once I get it upgraded and the speed and strength go up it will be even better. I just have to be patient.
I'm thinking too the Griff would be much better off with plasma than the tumbala/pin setup it has. The range would be reduced but I wouldn't have to wait out the long reload times.

If you really need a good midranger, then get a trident fury instead of two galahads. But orkans are absolutely top priority if you have less than four of them and a fifth slot.
