Hi War Robots forums,
1st time here and excited to be here as this game is mad fun. I made a mistake of leveling up to fast and I realize I need to upgrade my weapons more. I found bits and pieces of information but I'm still not quite sure so I figured I ask.
I know there are different tiers based off of your robot level and weapon levels. I currently have 4 slots in my hanger. Could I leave one slot empty to lower my tier so I play easier opponents as right now opponents have become increasingly tough for me. Also could I just use (1) robot like my griffin who is at lvl 6 atm. Then fill the other slots with alt bots I haven't been leveling to try and lower my tier level?
I apologize for the noob question and thanks for all help in advance.

Pix says they will be implementing new leagues (AKA tiers) soon. Regarding the hangar question, it works off the highest level bot or weapon you have in your hangar plus a performance rating that people are trying to figure out (and it seems to be still getting tweaked by Pix). The current wisdom is keep all your bot and weapon levels pretty much balance (~ the same). You will still get some crazy match ups though.

As far as I know the number of slots has no effect on your tier.
The new wisdom is keep bots and weapons level even.
Nobody really knows how the matchmaking is happening now, but I'd say its a combination of your recent activity weighted with the level of your strongest bot with some sort of moon phase and high tide data thrown in. So keep your bots at the same levels (or as close as you can)

I wanted to follow up on your comment then. I did read a little about what you said on how they are developing new tiers soon so I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming. Also when you mentioned to keep all the bot and weapon levels the same, is the conventional meaning of that a lvl 6 bot should have lvl 6 guns? I don't know why, I felt like I read somewhere your weapons should be 1.5x or 2x your bot level. That may have been the old wisdom for tiering at different phases of leveling up I'm assuming. Thanks again for any help. -Pilot Jim

A couple people much smarter than me have note that it may be a heavy = m +1/+1= light +2/+2. The bottom line is that there are a bunch of good theories out there, but no one will know for sure until the system is done. Have all your bots and weapons around the same level is a safe bet for now and it truly does seem like the hangar strength pice is weighted from the strongest bot/weapon lvl and not the hangar average. Go ahead and fill all your slots.

Here's what seems to be the best theory so far ... war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/thread/1719/new-explained-theory-experience-updatedShort version: a little bit of hangar strength plus some sort of performance rating is your score. The more (and maybe the bigger) you win,the more challenging your opponents will be. However, it takes a number of games to sort out, so you should see more well-matched games as you keep playing. Empty slots (or low bots in them) are ignored. Hangar score is based off your highest bot, so try not to have one be much more powerful than the others. 6/6 heavy=7/7 medium=8/8 light isn't confirmed, but seems reasonable. It's been theorized that the matchmaker goes by the highest of bot or weapon for strength, which fits what I've been experiencing. That means a 4/8 bot would be weighted the same as an 8/8. Seems best to keep bot and weapon levels close. Anyway, welcome to the forum, and I hope to see you on the field!

pretty sure you can't empty a slot anyways, whether or not it'd help.. also, you don't have to sign your posts
if you find you are always in matches that have red bots way out of your league, or you mech out in 6 minutes no matter what you roster, everything is working correctly, the new MM is converting your 'tiers' to 'tears'
enjoy!!
