Much weaker in recent times. There is really no question about it.

The big change happened around 3.7 IMO. Lots of possibilities why but I reckon this is how it went down.

Some months ago champs were mixed with down to diamonds. OP stuff started flooding in too and the gap between the haves and have nots become huge. Realisation dawned on people and many in higher leagues started tanking down (and fade from the game as well). That in turn forced players in mid leagues to tank away and on the cascade effect went. As a result, low and mid leagues become unusually strong which in turn provided the incentive for tankers to go even lower to chase the OP items, event prizes and fair matches. It just kept on snow balling and as a side effect thereby further strengthening the lower leagues.

That in turn resulted in higher game abandonment rates by noobs upon reaching B3 and Silver. It got out of hand and Pix introduced the new tanker catch algorithm. Many of the tankers were scooped up because the new “tanker catcher” works differently. But it caught a lot of noobs. Many of the tankers moved up a bit in the leagues after exiting the LPQ, many quit as did the noobs. But most importantly I reckon many of the tankers started playing less. Remember, we are not talking about only super tankers here. We are talking about those who dropped from silver to bronze as well. Those junior tankers who had most to gain probably just packed up and left the game. There were probably more tankers than non tankers and the overwhelming majority were not super tankers.

Resupply of new players has been an issue as well. Downloads were down to 19K for some time and now even on the week end day it dropped to mid 16K. revenue has been declining as well which probably means not enough players (comparatively to times before) and those who remain in the game spend less.

So the leagues are a shadow of their former selves. Root cause? – current P2W strategy and Pixonic's knee jerk reaction to try and solve the problem by superficial means.

I made a thread a few weeks back when Pix started the tanker crackdown and lobbied for reinstating full rewards in the LPQ. If a tanker gets caught at least the grind is still possible if the same rewards are available and there is no need to disturb the NQ. Tankers know that. Everyone knows that. Many probably wont even want to get out……. And that’s how it was when there were rewards in the LPQ.

This game needs to hold onto just about every player. Why should people care about someone earning twice as much virtual gold in the LPQ to buy virtual goods (in a game) which become redundant in 6 months time.
