i have only got enough tarans to afford either one of the above mentioned bots. Which one would you reccommend?

It depends, really.
The Boa is a beast if played right. On knifer maps especially if the pilot manages to get real close (< 100m) it delivers heavy damage or death to most of its opponents. But this takes skill, awareness and patience - and a good deal of leveling. The Griff has the advantage of it's jump ability and carrying two Tarans makes it a true Death Button being able to ambush and deliver a vast amount of damage in a very short time.
Keep in mind that you compare a medium to a heavy bot. Under the pressure of the new mm I shelved my Boas and run 4 to 5 Griffs now, where two of those are PDB. But this is only my preference.
How does the rest of you hangar look like? As for the Tarans you could either have one PDB Griff or tow TT Boas, right? So I would take a look there too, maybe this could help you to come to the right decision.

Depends what you've been up against with at the level you're playing and your play style e.g. preference for jumping around or long slow Strolls.
Plan for both. Use one of them to help get the other. First go for the one that you have greater confidence in using to grind more Ag for upgrades, bots, and for feeding the workshop for more Tarans.

In the current environment (my primary account hangar is at 8/10, secondary account hangar at 6/8) Boa is a victim. You'd be better IMO with Thunder/Orkan Boa, at least you could ambush shield bots.
I ran a plasma Griffin in my secondary hangar until I could afford a second Galahad. It's situational, you have to be careful and opportunistic but it can do *enormous* damage. And it's more survivable, on attack or defense the jump really does help.

Keep in mind that you compare a medium to a heavy bot. In my opinion, the Boa is a medium that thinks it's a heavy, and the Griffin is a medium that has been labeled as a heavy. Boa has Griffin beat in both speed and HP at every level. This is what makes the Thunder/Orkan combo so effective. It has the ability to get in the fight quickly, dish out some serious damage and keep on going. Tarans do not have that "sucker punch" effect that Orkans do, and Thunders need to be super close to the target to do any significant damage. In my experience, Thunder and Taran is a complete mismatch. Plasma Griff can hang back, outside of Piñata/Orkan range, and dish out some serious damage. If a DB gets too close, Griff can jump backwards to safety. Having a Thunder/Orkan Boa and a Plasma Griffin in your hanger, you are prepared for either situation.

Interesting... since the 2.5 changes, the plasma Griffin plays like it's been nerfed, it's very match specific and it seems wasteful to take up hanger space with a build that marginally useful.

PBD Griffin as effectively nerfed with the intro of the BritBots. The PDB can't beat a even a damaged Plasma Gal or Taran/Thunder Lance. Heck, even a plasma Gareth can kill a PDB Griffin if both pilots are the same skill - it'll be close though.

Plasma Griffin is anti-DB Griffin Either PDB Griff or Thunder/Taran Boa work well against the DB Griff. The L12 Boa may be slightly more survivable in that the 136K full L12 PDB Griff damage won't result on a weapon blowoff, while 136K off an L12 Griff will result in SOMETHING breaking.

Well i have been using full silver medium bots in my hangar but i have got a rdb grif in my main hangar now. So so far i have been doing a 4 pinata patton a TOP golem and now an rdb grif. Still deciding the last slot between thunder taran boa or pdb grif. I have been seeing fujins and shield bots a lot lately, sometimes rhinos and carnages even so i think i need some high damage setup to counter them

Take the weapons off the Golem and replace him with a Thunder/Orkan Boa. You won't miss the Piñata as the Boa ia a WAY tougher bot than Golem. Plus, it's one less weapon you have to worry about upgrading. Keep the RDB Griffin and Piñata Patton. Then save your WSP for a Carnage to replace the Patton. After that, save gold for the 5th slot and spend WSP on Tarans & Magnums to put on the 5th bot.

Fifth. Content filter is bonkers, it replaces the number after 4 with Caught.

Even in the current meta I run 2 Thunder/Orkan Boas. The Tarans got moved to britbots. And Boa over Golem all day long. Learn to wrap with the Boa and you can self-flank shield bots and especially Rhinos (if the driver doesn't know to drop the shield to turn, you'll be at their 6 and kill them without taking damage). You'll eat Griffins alive if they try to jump into you.
