Another aspect I like about Gareths is you learn to run backwards. When I want to run full speed through an open area but know there's a Trebuchet watching me on the right side then I run facing backwards so the shield is facing the Treb. Really challenges my knowledge of the map but it's a great feeling when that treb does strike and I'm safe.
Aphid Geps are great but it's near impossible to hit other fast bots. A couple times I've been 1 on 1 with another Aphid Gep and we both knew to keep strafing. We circled and circled, facing each other to keep lock, got dizzy.

Gareth is a quick little devil. The most durable light bot and has a good armament. I'd take it over the Gepard anytime. Great for beacon capping and harrassing the rear lines. It is squishy. Still a light bot, after all. When you know the maps and are aware of the enemy movement, the Gareth is great. Good at corner shooting, too. Needs a bit practice, though. Good sayed. I hate them when in my Carnage and love them in my RDB or DB Griffin. Well piloted they are a thread on the battlefield. One moment here another there. Thank god there are more noobs than aces in Gareths cocpits. Did you just assume my skill? *triggered*

I have both. My level 10 gareth w/ orkan takes down griffins, rhinos, all sorts of things. Dodging aphids is a breeze, just run sideways. My Gepard mostly gets killed. To be fair, I've never tried him with all aphids, just 2. For the extra 50 gold I'd get gareth unless you plan on doing little to no upgrading. Then gep might be better.

Gareth eats up bots when played well. Gepards get eaten. Nuff said
