I have been saving up some gold, and almost have enough to get a Gepard or Gareth. Has anyone had some experience with either or both and guide me to which one to get? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They both die pretty easy. I can't stand gareths, but I never ended up running my gepard, it's still level 3. I assume you have already your hangar slots? Because if you don't I'd firmly recommend that first above any other gold expenditure.

I've got this nasty feeling that Gareth is the new Gepard....

Any bot with a shield. Some bots have two shields - Ancilot. At level 12 the Ancilot shield is like god mode.

Gareth is a quick little devil. The most durable light bot and has a good armament. I'd take it over the Gepard anytime. Great for beacon capping and harrassing the rear lines. It is squishy. Still a light bot, after all. When you know the maps and are aware of the enemy movement, the Gareth is great. Good at corner shooting, too. Needs a bit practice, though.

I have heard that the Gareth is matched up with more expensive gold robots in MM. It would be my only only gold robot so I don't know how well I would do. Also, I have 4 hangar slots but not the fifth. I was thinking either a mag Gepard or a Gareth with a taran and magnum. If those setups could be improved please let me know. Thank you all for your responses but I still have a tough decision.

I have 6 Gepards but find the 1 Gareth I have much more useful. It has a special ability (which is always fun) and as fast as a Gepard at level 6. I recently got my Gareth to level 9 for it's top speed of 64, the Gepard is a constant 58. The only bot faster is a Stalker at 66. The shield is amazing, I've taken out plasma Griffins and Rhinos head on. Splash is it's achilles heal but that'll take out Gepards too. I use Orkan Pinata on the Gareth.
Gepards are great too but without a shield they don't carry into the higher 'tier' play as well. Hoping the league system lets me play Gepards competitively again because what I'm facing now they don't last.

slots before bots. Seriously. 5th slot. I know it's slow but it's worthwhile.
Your information about gold gareths vs gepards is only valid in the old matchmaker.

Slots before bots is seldom the answer anyone wants to hear, but it's the most correct answer regardless.

Buy a Gepard if you have 3 Aphids and a Gareth if you do not.

Your information about gold gareths vs gepards is only valid in the old matchmaker. I think it applies more now. In the old MM a Gareth bumped you up a tier. that no longer happens. Play it with whatever you have with the caveat that it's advantage may boost your elo score. I don't mean to imply the Gepard is an inferior bot, just I feel a bit more nimble in a Gareth. I've had a massive amount of fun and action with aphid, pinata, pin and even molot Gepards, but since recently adding a Lancelot to my hangar the battles wipe out my Gepards fairly easily. ymmv

If I could get a refund for Gepards, I'd trade them for Gareths, which are faster at level 7 with better survivability for beacon capturing. One Gepard is good for Aphids.

I bought a gepard and aphids a ways back, half cuz I love the style of play, half cuz I got my bum bum kicked so often by this setup.
Before 2.5 I'd recommend it heavily, today.. I don't even run it anymore. Neat with aphids still sure, but useless on maps not named dead city. I don't own a Gareth so I can't cast your vote, but I'd give up any jealousy for a Gep anything. They can't take a decent hit and aren't useful on most maps.

I hate them when in my Carnage and love them in my RDB or DB Griffin. Well piloted they are a thread on the battlefield. One moment here another there. Thank god there are more noobs than aces in Gareths cocpits.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Although you did not mention your player level and preferred playing style, I'll chip in with my 2 cents. I have both bots. The Gepard is now not worth the 1200 Au. It has the same health as a Destrier after the 2.5 update. The Gareth is a better choice over the Gepard but I would suggest saving for a 2500 Au Galahad instead.

I have one of each. Survivability is situational for both, but the Gareth tends to last longer in an unavoidable head to head fight. Great beacon runner and with a mag/taran loadout can take out a Carnage if you're sneaky, or mag/taran Griffin head on.
Gepard is squishy even at lvl 11, however, I do get a large chunk of my damage points from its tri aphid loadout.
You want beacons and some damage? Gareth. Straight damage? Aphid Gepard.
Both are high risk/high reward bots. I've had great success and epic fails with them.
Some say they are irrelevant in higher level matches, but I haven't personally confirmed that. Until I do, I'm happy having both.

If we were in pre-elo MM, I'd say Gepard hands down. But now that the nuance of MM penalty has been given the flick, Gareth's shield almost eliminates threats from plasma, and gives you much longer suvivability.

Gareth. Perfect for capturing beacons as well as defending it. No matter if you go mag taran or orkan pin or a combo of those. Even faced a full punisher equipped gareth which was annoying as hell...

Never tried both bots but from what i encountered during the match, i decided that gareths are more annoying.
Speed: Gareth wins, hands down, even with shield hes still pretty damn fast Fire power: tri aphid gepard wins imho Beacon capping and holding: Damn that shield of gareth boi can he survive quite a while when there isnt cover availble (eg. middle beacon in shenzhen) Unavoidable one on one duel: Given its splash weapons, both are toast. Given its a plasma weapon/bullet type weapon--> Gepards: you are toast(if you are in open cover), or you will be dead later(provided there is cover) --> Gareths: you are gonna live for quite a while if you have your shield on even on open ground (HELL YEA I SPEND A WHOLE MINUTE AND LOOK THAT GARETH EXPLODED... OH NO THATS JUST HIS SHIELD WHICH IS DESTROYED -_-)

Aphid Gep is the only viable load out, though it can be deadly in the right situation. Aphids rule on dead city, true. But they also dominate on power plant and have their moments on certain parts of other maps, like Yamantau and Canyon.

Jagermech has dual autocannon in each arm. Rifleman has autocannon and large laser. I have the book right here. Gray death Legion part two. Der Söldnerstern.

Personally I'm all bout the Gareth.. He's faster than Carl Lewis.. Got that medium weapons slot, so you got a lil 「bum-bum」 behind ya. And that shield. Nothing cooler than getting in a knife fight, and whippin that shield around and tuning some fool up. Gareth baby!!!

Jagermech has dual autocannon in each arm. Rifleman has autocannon and large laser. I have the book right here. Gray death Legion part two. Der Söldnerstern. Yet both are horrible mechs. Their armor is far, far too thin and the limited ammo supply hurts. I think Jagers has 2 Ac2s and 2 A.c. 5s for a horrible damage profile. Rifleman had better damage but next to no ammo and some of the worst back armor ever. As I recall, a centurion with some long nails ripped through the rear armor of a Rifleman with ease.
