I know that PIX has previously said no to new game modes due to the trouble with the old MM. however with the new MM and league system on the horizon, maybe a new game mode or two may not be out of the question (at least I hope so).
Here is a new game mode that I wold love to see: Capture the Beacon (flag) - Each team would spawn with a podium next to them with the other team's bacon on it. Each of the two team beacons could be picked up by anyone (same time delay as required now to cap a beacon). Once picked up, the beacon would become part of the bot that is holding it (beacon walks around the map with the bot). The beacon stasis bar will measure how far each beacon is from the the target home/spawn podium. the goal is to cross the map and get your beacon from the other side (or from whoever is holding it) and then get it to your own spawning podium - and of course keeping the other team from getting their own beacon, and keeping their beacon as far from their own podium as possible. Whenever someone dies while holding a beacon, the beacon stays with the bot's corpse until someone else picks it up. the game is won by either: 1) getting your team's beacon to tour your own home/spawning podium, 2) having your beacon closest to your home podium at the end of the 10 minute timer, or 3) destroying all of the other teams bots (same as now). I think that there could be a lot of strategy to the game and good team dynamics. you always have to be watching both beacons as the move around the map, and who is with them. Do you try and have a fast/weak bot try and get your beacon, or a beastly bot? After you kill the bot holding your team's beacon, we'll you be so close to death yourself that you will be useless getting it closer to your home podium? Gold could be based on damage (as it is now) and based on total time time carrying a beacon during the game (either your own team's or the red team's).
