on non clan matches a) light on light, they try to distract you hoping you'll stop and turn to see what's going on b) benevolent case: small screen where the ability (jump, most especially) and upper weapons buttons are very close. I know it happens annoyingly often for me with the Griffin. c) signal, as someone said before... but in a full random team it doesn't make sense, people wouldn't know what you are trying to signal d) annoyance: you see a zenit noricum Natasha in Shenzen and you are gently trying to tell the guy to change bot. in clan matches a) hazing the new member Hazing the new member, yes, but definitely also HAZING THE CAMPER

it really bugs me when i'm trying to sneakily cap a beacon with a light robot and a jackass teammate of mine keeps firing weapons at my back making it obvious to the reds where I am and where I am going. Heh, you know you have a GIANT red name over your head visible from 1000 meters that does that already right? ? i never noticed that!

I am totally guilty of this, hahahahaha! When I'm heading to a beacon and a Gep or Stalker runs up behind me, I can't help myself! Sorry little guy, that's MY beacon, haha! Think of it this way though. You sacrifice a lot to put a light robot out there in damage and hp. It is done mainly to cap beacons. Let me elaborate... When I'm 5 steps from a beacon and a stalker tries to run up from behind me and snatch it, I knock him into the wall. I clearly have that beacon under control, the other pilot is purely trying to steal the cap from me. So, I deny him if possible. There's no reason the steal beacons from a teammate; it's counterproductive. Back to the topic on hand, sometimes when the match starts I don't realize my thumb is on the fire button. Whoops! Other than that, it's the equivalent of honking the horn in a car. Robots don't have horns, so plasma balls will have to do the job. I've found a better form of communication is to turn my torso towards my teammate. When I meet a smart player in a match, they usually respond in kind, as a way of saying, "let's stick together". Some small plasma bot pilots simply run around with their weapons in a constant state of fire. That's less about communication and more about a complete lack of skill.

There is a difference between stealing a beacon from a team mate and have a lumbering heavy blasting you in the back at the start of the game because he want the beacon which will take him 15 seconds longer to get to, LOL. Also good courtesy to leave the beacon if another bot just spent 2 minutes clearing the defender.

I agree in principle, but I've seen games where said bot was eventually killed off before completing the beacon turn and then the beacon staying white for a while. Not sure how much that impacted those games, but since you never know how much health that bot has left after battling it out for the beacon... well...

as far as I know only the one who started turning the beacon gets the credit, but apparently there are ways to share a beacon cap.

The battle starts with me in a fast bot on the far left, so I immediately run to the left beacon. Someone's firing guns at the beacon so I give a couple pulses to let them know 'yeah, I already got it', but they don't stop. Constant fire all the way and I finally look after getting the beacon and it's a Doc that's following me anyways. Then I head out but the Doc still travels to it even though it's already blue. What?! He was probably planning on defensive camping and support sniping from that beacon. He's slow, but he'll still be able to cap it before any Reds get there, plus he'll be able to defend that entire left lane with mid-long range fire. You're fast, and so could be rushing ahead to capture or contest the farther beacon on the left side and he could back you up... instead of wasting time capping a beacon he's going to get anyway. Of course... That's a lot of inflection to put into a couple of artillery rounds. But when your only mode of communication is inarticulate shouting, you do what you can and hope the other person gets the gist.

This also means that if one robot from each team is in the capture area, the capture stalls... But many vs few in the capture area will capture it for the team that outnumbers the other on the beacon.
