I know it’s heresy but I always preferred the GnR version to the Stones. It’s Axel’s laugh that gets me.

The Stones are gods among men. GnR is a band.

Sorry. Not going there. Fab Four fan here. I can count on one hand how many songs I like by the Rolling Uglies.

Love the Beatles too, though gun to my head, I think I go Stones.
And if I wanted guitar AND pretty, I can always watch Jess Greenberg videos!

Love the Beatles too, though gun to my head, I think I go Stones. And if I wanted guitar AND pretty, I can always watch Jess Greenberg videos! Thank you for that... Truly a talented musician and singer with beauty to match... I have many YT covers to watch now. But yeah, great song and I abstain from the GnR vs TRS version argument... I found that I like a lot of their songs when covered by unlikely people, almost as much, if not as much, as the originals. Crucify me if needed... but it seems the songwriting prowess of the Stones is as powerful as their ability to play the songs... and is an equally good reason to admire them. Paint it Black is one of my favorites.

Paint It Black is one of my top 10 favorites.
Love those odd combo covers too - Johnny Cash covering Nine Inch Nails song Hurt is an all time fav cover.

Oh deffo... that whole rash of covers he did at that time were pure gold to me. Rusty Cage is another high on the list. For example... Is it wrong that I like the All That Remains cover of "When the Thunder Rolls?" I didn't at first... but now... *Shrugs*

Johnny's remake of Neal Diamond's "Solitary Man" is classic. The acoustic guitar solo is awesome.

I generally have a very strong preference for original versions of songs, but every so often I do like a cover.
Two covers by the Stones come to mind, those being "Not Fade Away" (Buddy Holly) and "Money" (Barrett Strong).
